USER MANUAL 224403 Hendi
Please read these user instructions carefully before connecting the appliance to prevent damage due to improper use. Please pay special attention to the safety regulations.
Safety regulations
Incorrect operation and improper use of the appliance can seriously damage the appliance and injure users.
The appliance may only be used for the purpose for which it was intended and designed. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage caused by incorrect operation and improper use.
- Keep the appliance and electrical plug away from water and any other liquids. In the unlikely event that the appliance should fall into water, immediately pull the plug out of the socket and have the appliance checked by a certified technician. Not following these instructions could give rise to life-threatening situations.
- Never try to open the casing of the appliance yourself.
- Do not insert any objects in the casing of the appliance.
- Do not touch the plug with wet or damp hands.
- Regularly check the plug and cord for any damage. Should the plug or cord be damaged have it/them repaired by a certified repair company.
- Do not use the appliance after it has fallen or is damaged in any other way. Have it checked and repaired, if necessary, by a certified repair company.
- Do not try to repair the appliance yourself. This could give rise to life-threatening situations.
- Make sure the cord does not come in contact with sharp or hot objects and keep it away from open fire. To pull the plug out of the socket, always pull on the plug and not on the cord.
- Make sure that no one can accidentally pull the cord (or extension cord) loose or trip over the cord.
Always keep an eye on the appliance when in use.
- Children do not understand that incorrect use of electrical appliances can be dangerous. Therefore, never let children use home appliances without supervision.
- Always pull the plug out of the socket when the appliance is not being used and always before cleaning.
- Warning! As long as the plug is in the socket the appliance is connected to the power source.
- Turn off the appliance before pulling the plug out of the socket.
- Never carry the appliance by the cord.
This appliance is solely used for sharpening knives and scissors.
- Do not use any extra devices that are not supplied along with the appliance.
- Only connect the appliance to an earthed 230 VAC electrical socket.
- Avoid overloading.
- Turn off the appliance after use by removing the plug from the socket.
Always remove the plug from the socket when filling or cleaning the deep fryer.
The electrical installation must satisfy the applicable national and local regulations.
Special safety regulations
- Caution! Make sure the cord does not come in contact with hot components while using the appliance.
- Keep the knife and sharpening wheels dry at all costs.
Preparations before using for the first time
- Check to make sure the appliance is undamaged. In case of any damage, contact your supplier immediately and do NOT use the appliance.
- Remove all the packing material.
- Clean the appliance with luke-warm water and a soft cloth.
- Level the appliance.
- Position the appliance in such a way that the plug is accessible at all times.
- Make sure the appliance and the knife are dry. Oil is not needed.
Operation
- Plug the appliance into the main socket.
- On/Off button on the left side.
- Place a knife inside an opening and pull it towards you slowly. De left opening sharpens the left side of the blade, whilst the right opening sharpens the right side of the blade.
ATTENTION! De order is not important but remember, after sharpening the one side, always follow up by sharpening the other side.

Use the following steps for sharpening standard knives. (Also displayed on the appliance)

Turn on the appliance.
- Lower the knife into an opening under an angle of 20^
ATTENTION! Make sure the knife does not mover forward while lowering it into an opening.
This can cause the sandpaper to be cut.
- Step1. Push the knife down with a pressure of 1.5 kg( 3 - 3,5Ibs)
ATTENTION! Repeat this step for both the left and right opening before continuing with the next step. - Step 2. Push the knife down with a pressure of 0.6kg (1,5 lbs)
ATTENTION! Repeat this step for both the left and right opening before continuing with the next step.
- Step 3. Push the knofo down with a pressure of 0.03kg (2 oz)
ATTENTION! Repeat this step for both the left and right opening before continuing with the next step.
-Repeat above 3 steps until satisfied with the results.
- To measure the pressure needed, place the appliance on a scale and read while sharpening how much pressure is needed.

Use the following steps for sharpening special knives like Japanese knives and serrated knives. Depending on the type of knife some steps are skipped.

To sharpen a (sashimi) knife with a cutting edge on only 1 side use the above 3 steps, only this time only on the side of the cutting edge. Use step 3 to remove any burr from the flat side using light pressure.
- To sharpen serrated blades follow the same steps as for the sashimi knife.

To sharpen thin knives skip Step1.

Use the following steps to sharpen scissors.

Remove the cover by rotating the screw mechanism on the bottom .

Place the knives cutting edge under the appropriate angle against the sharpening wheels until the required results are reached.

Once the desired result has been reached turn of the appliance.
Always wash the knife and dry it with a soft cloth after sharpening it. - Should the appliance not be used for a longer period, press the Off button on the left side of the appliance and remove the plug from the main socket.
Cleaning and maintenance
Always remove the plug from the socket before cleaning the appliance.
- Beware: Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid!
- Clean the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth (water with mild detergent).
- Never use aggressive cleaning agents or abrasives. Do not use any sharp or pointed objects. Do not use petrol or solvents! Clean with a damp cloth and detergent if necessary. Do not use abrasive materials.
- Turn the screw on the bottom to remove the cover. Turn the appliance upside-down to remove any knife dust and chips. A brush may be used for this.
- Turn the 2 screws on the sharpening wheels in the mentioned direction to remove the wheels from the appliance. Cut the sandpaper of the wheels.
Place the new sharpening abrasive on the wheels, and re-attach the wheels to the appliance and re-attach the cover.
ATTENTION!
When using single layer sandpaper make sure the overlapping part of the paper is faced to the right on the left wheel and to the left on the right wheel.
