Frequently Asked Questions - AFM 4011 AMICA

Why does my fryer emit white smoke or a strange smell during first use?
This is normal. The white smoke or unpleasant smell comes from the burning of manufacturing residues. Let the appliance run empty for 10 to 15 minutes at 200 °C to eliminate these residues.
How do I clean the basket and drawer of the fryer?
Wash the frying basket and drawer with a mild detergent and some warm water. Use a non-abrasive sponge. Do not put in dishwasher and do not use caustic detergents.
Can I use oil in this fryer?
This fryer uses hot air and requires very little or no oil. For crispy results, you can brush the food with a little oil, but never pour oil into the tank.
Why won't my fryer turn on?
Check that the basket drawer is fully inserted. The appliance has a safety feature that prevents operation if the drawer is not properly closed. Also make sure the plug is connected and you have pressed the power button.
How do I set the temperature and cooking time?
Use the 'Temp' and 'Time' buttons on the touch panel to adjust the temperature (80-200 °C) and duration (1-60 minutes). For the Dehydrate program, the temperature can be set between 30 and 90 °C and the time up to 24 hours.
Should I preheat the fryer before use?
Yes, it is recommended to preheat the appliance for 3 to 6 minutes before placing the food for better cooking results.
What does the 'shake' indicator that lights up during cooking mean?
The 'shake' indicator lights up halfway through cooking to tell you to take out the drawer, shake the basket or turn the food to ensure even cooking. The appliance stops automatically and resumes after replacing the drawer.
Can I use metal or silicone accessories in the fryer?
Use heat-resistant utensils (wood, silicone) to remove food. Avoid metal utensils that could scratch the non-stick coating.
How to avoid burns during use?
Never touch the inside of the appliance while it is operating. Wait for the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning. Be careful of hot steam emitted from the air outlets and when removing the basket.
Where can I find spare parts or have my fryer repaired?
Contact a service authorized by Amica. The damaged power cable must be replaced only by a professional. Refer to the manual for after-sales service contact information.
