Notes on the switch If you turn the switch to "O" (STOP), the engine is switched off. Position: Left on handle next to the ON/OFF switch
If the choke lever (in the rear part of the handle on the right side) is pulled to the arrow, the start mode can be set as follows: Position 1 when the engine is cold. Position 0 when the engine is warm Position: on the right side below the air filter
The directions indicate that the chain brake is released (white arrow) and activated (black arrow). Position: Front side on the Chain cover
If you replace the screw turn the screwdriver in the direction of the arrow to the "MAX" position, the oil flow is stronger and if you set the "MIN" position, the oil flow is lower. Position: Device bottom PRECAUTIONS FOR CHAINSAW USERS WITH REGARD TO KICKBACK CAUTION Kickback of the chainsaw can be caused by the tip of the chain bar coming into contact with a solid object, or if the wood being cut compresses and jams the chain bar during cutting.MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
In some cases, contact between the tip of the chain bar and a solid object can cause the chain bar to strike back at lightning speed, throwing it backwards and upwards towards the operator. Pinching the saw-chain at the upper part of the chain bar can cause the chain bar to bounce back and towards the operator with a quick movement. If either of these events occurs, you could lose control of the chainsaw, which could result in serious injury. Do not rely solely on the chainsaw's built-in safety features. As a user of this device, you must take some precautions to ensure that all work with the saw can be performed without accident or injury If you become reasonably familiar with the causes and characteristics of kickback, you will reduce or eliminate the element of surprise, which eliminates a common cause of accidents.
6. Mounting the blade and the saw-chain
ATTENTION: Always wear safety gloves when handling the saw-chain! Mounting the saw bar and saw chain
- Release chain brake (10) (engage hand guard to the rear)
- Unscrew the fastening screws (12) and remove the sprocket protection
- Put the saw chain around the sprocket. Make sure that the direction of the arrow on the chain is the same as that on the sprocket.

- If the engine does not start after pulling the pull starter three times, repeat the entire starting procedure as described under Cold Start After starting
- Run the engine at idle speed for some time
- Press the throttle slowly to increase the engine speed When the engine speed is high enough, the clutch disengages and the saw- chain starts to rotate.
- Ensure that the chain is sufficiently lubricated (► Check chain lubrication)
- Check that the chain stops spinning when the throttle is releasedMODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
Switching off the engine
- Release the throttle lever
- Set ignition switch to [0]. The engine switches off. DANGER! Danger of injury! The throttle stick must be pressed lightly once after starting, so that the engine reaches the correct idle speed and the saw-chain does not start up in idle speed. Hint: Pull the pull starter with the choke lever pulled only until the first ignition noise is heard. Otherwise there is a risk that too much fuel will enter the combustion chamber and no ignition spark can be produced. NOTE: Always drain the appliance before turning it offMODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
9. Operation of the chainsaw
The saw-chain starts to rotate as soon as the engine starts up, so make sure there is sufficient safety clearance!
CHECKING THE OIL SUPPLY
After starting the engine, run the chain at medium speed and check that the chain is releasing oil, as shown in the figure. (1) Chain oil The amount of oil supplied can be regulated by inserting a screwdriver into the opening at the bottom of the coupling side. Adjust the oil supply quantity according to working conditions. (4) Chain oil flow adjustment screw (5) Less oil (6) More oil NOTE It is possible that the oil tank will also empty during fuel consumption. Therefore, make sure that the oil tank is filled every time the saw is refuelled. CARBURETTOR ADJUSTMENT For the time being, adjust the L and H screw to the factory setting by carefully closing them completely to the right and screwing on the H needle by ³/4 turn (± ³/8). Screw on the L needle by 1.5 turn (± ³/8). Start the saw and let it run at medium speed for about half a minute (so it gets a little warm)MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
CHAIN BRAKE This device is equipped with an automatic brake. If a kickback occurs during sawing, the brake is automatically released by the inertia acting on the weight inside the front guard and stops the rotation of the saw chain. This brake can also be operated manually by manually tilting the front guard to the side of the guide bar. To release the brake, raise the front guard on the side of the handwheel as far as it will go. It is essential to check the braking effect before commissioning. (1) Front handle (2) Released (3) Braking (4) Brake lever Review procedures:
3. Switch off the engine
4. Hold the chainsaw horizontally with both
hands, take your hand away from the front handwheel and knock the tip of the guide rod against a tree stump to check the braking effect. The actuation height varies according to the size of the guide rod. If the brake does not work properly, ask your dealer to check and repair it. If the engine turns at high speed when the brake is applied, the clutch will heat up and this may cause a malfunction. If the brake is released during operation, immediately release the throttle and stop the engine.MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
ATTENTION Before starting work, first read the section "Safety instructions". For practice purposes, it is recommended that you first saw through pieces of wood that are easy to cut. This also helps you to become familiar with the operation of the chainsaw. Always observe these safety regulations. The chainsaw may only be used for cutting wood. It is prohibited to cut other materials. The vibration and kickback are different for different materials and the safety characteristics are not be guaranteed. Do not use the chainsaw as a lever to lift, move or split objects. Do not stand over fixed uprights when sawing. It is prohibited to connect to the chainsaw's top shaft to any other parts than those specified by the manufacturer. It is not necessary to push the chainsaw into the interface. Run the engine at full throttle and apply only light pressure to the saw when starting. If the saw-chain is jammed in the interface, do not try to pull the chain bar out by force, but use a wedge or a bar to pry up the interface.MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
This chain saw is equipped with a chain brake, which in case of a kickback of the saw the chain stops immediately - provided that the braking device is working properly. For this reason, the function of the Chain brake must be checked before starting any work. To do this, have the chain saw run at full throttle for 1-2 seconds, then press the chain saw forward against the handguard with your hand. The chain must now stop immediately at the highest engine speed. If the chain stops only hesitantly or not at all, replace the brake band and clutch drum during start-up. It is of the utmost importance that the chain is checked for proper function before starting work. The chain must always be kept sharp to provide the highest possible safety against recoil. Removal of the safety devices, insufficient maintenance or improper replacement of the chain stay or chain pose an increased safety risk that can cause serious injury through kickback.MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
- Always saw in a relief cut (1) on the pressure side first
- Then saw in the separating cut (2) on the pulling side - otherwise the chainsaw may jam or kickback ATTENTION
3. Always ensure a safe working position.
Never stand on the branch to be cut.
4. Bring the chainsaw into the cut at full
throttle and (if possible) firmly set the claw stop - only then saw, preferably work with claw stop - to have better control of the device. When working without a claw stop, the device can pull the operator forward. Pull the chainsaw out of the wood only with the chain running. ATTENTION Watch out for rebounding branches and twigs. Trim standing trees first from bottom to top, then saw through the branch from the top.
1. ensure firm stance and do not use a ladder.
Preferably work from an aerial work platform if the operating conditions allow
2. do not exceed the range.
3. do not saw above shoulder height.
5. 4. always hold the chain saw with both
10. Working methods to reduce the risk of injury
10.1 Tree care at height with rope and riser
10.1.1 General requirements
As a user of this chainsaw for tree care, the one at height with rope and carrying strap, you should never work alone. A ground worker trained in emergency procedures should be present to assist you. They should be trained in general, safe climbing and work positioning techniques and should be equipped with harness, rope, slings, karabiners and other device to maintain safe and correct working positions for both themselves and the saw.
10.1.2 Preparing the chainsaw for use
The chainsaw should be inspected, refuelled, started and warmed up by the ground worker and then switched off before being pulled up to the user in the tree. The chainsaw should be provided with a suitable sling so that it can be attached to the user's harness (see picture A.1): e) the sling is attached to the secure the suspension device (18); f) suitable karabiners must be provided to allow indirect (i.e. through the sling) and direct (i.e. on the suspension device (18) of the chainsaw) to allow the saw to be attached to the user's harness; g) Ensure that the chainsaw is securely fastened when it is pulled up to the user; h) make sure that the chainsaw is attached to the carrying strap before disconnecting it from the lifting rope.MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
The possibility of attaching the chainsaw directly to the carrying strap reduces the risk of damaging the device when moving in the tree. The chainsaw should always be switched off when it is attached directly to the riser. The chainsaw should only be attached to the recommended suspension device (18) on the carrying strap. These may be in the middle (front or back) or on the sides. Wherever possible, the chainsaw should be attached to the centred rear centre of the riser to keep it away from climbing ropes and to support the weight centrally under the user's spine. See figure A.2. If the chainsaw is moved from one suspension device (18) to another, make sure that the chainsaw is secured in the new position before it is released from the previous suspension device (18). Example of how to attach a chain saw for tree care to the user's harness.MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
10.1.3 Using the chainsaw in the tree
An analysis of accidents with these chainsaws during tree care work shows that the main cause is improper one-handed use of the chainsaw. In most accidents, users do not assume a safe working position that allows them to hold the chain saw by both handles, which causes an increased risk of injury from the following: lack of a firm grip on the kickback of the chainsaw; lack of control of the chain saw, making it easier for it to come into contact with climbing ropes and with the user's body (especially with the left hand and arm), and loss of control due to an unsafe working position and therefore contact with the chain saw (unexpected movements during work with the chain saw). Example of how to attach a chain saw for tree care to the centered rear center of the riserMODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
10.1.4 Secured working position for two-handed use
In order to be able to hold the chainsaw with both hands, you should always try to adopt a safe working position in which the saw is guided as follows: at hip height when sawing horizontal pieces and at stomach height when sawing vertical pieces. If you are working close to the vertical log with little lateral force to the working position, a secure foot support may be sufficient for a safe working position. However, as soon as you move away from the log, you must take additional measures to reduce or counteract the increasing lateral forces, e.g. by diverting the main rope via an additional suspension device (18) or by using an adjustable sling leading from the harness to an additional suspension device (18) (see figure A.3)
In order to achieve good foot support in the working position, a stirrup formed from an endless sling can be used temporarily to provide support (see Figure A.4). Example of deflection of the main rope via an additional suspension device.MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
10.1.5 Starting the chainsaw in the tree
When starting the chainsaw in the tree you should c) apply the chain brake before starting; d) hold the chainsaw to the left or right of the body when starting:
3) holding the chainsaw on the left side with the left hand on the front
handle and pushing the chainsaw away from the body while holding the starting wire in the right hand, or
4) holding the chainsaw on the right side with the right hand on one of
the two handles and pushing the chainsaw away from the body while holding the starting wire in the left hand. The chain brake should always be activated before the running chainsaw is lowered on its suspension cable. Before difficult sawing work, always make sure that the chainsaw has sufficient fuel. Example of a stirrup formed from an endless slingMODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
10.1.5 Using the chainsaw with one hand
Do not use the chainsaws for tree care with one hand in unstable working positions or instead of a hand saw for sawing off branch tips with a small diameter. Chainsaws for tree care should only be used with one hand if d) it is not possible to achieve a working position where ambidextrous operation is permitted, e) it is necessary to secure the working position with one hand, and f) the chainsaw is used in a fully extended position, at right angles to and out of line with the user's body. Never saw with the kickback area at the tip of the chainsaw guide bar, hold on to the branch where you are sawing, or try to catch falling parts.
10.1.6 Removing debris from a jammed chainsaw
If the chainsaw becomes jammed during cutting: d) switch off the chainsaw and attach it securely to the inside of the tree (i.e. to the trunk) or to a separate tool rope, e) pull the chainsaw out of the notch while lifting the branch as far as necessary, and f) if necessary, use a hand saw or second chainsaw to release the jammed chainsaw by cutting at least 30 cm away from the jammed chainsaw. Regardless of whether a hand saw or chainsaw is used to loosen a jammed chainsaw, the cuts to loosen the chainsaw should always be made on the outside (towards the tips of the branches) so that the chainsaw is not carried along with the sawn-off parts and further complicates the situation.MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
Before cleaning, checking or repairing the appliance, make sure that the engine has been switched off and has cooled down. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting. For all maintenance work Wear safety gloves. Non-compliance with regular maintenance work on the device can result in personal injury and damage to property. Always keep your chainsaw in perfect condition.
Loosen the knob and remove the air filter cover. Remove and adhere the filter element. Brush off sawdust. If the filter is clogged, take it apart in half and wash it out in petrol. When using compressed air, blow through from the inside. Remove the socket up to a audible click to reassemble the filter halves.
4. Oil supply opening
Remove the chain stay and check the oil supply opening for blockage. (1) Oil supply opening
When the chain stay is dismounted, remove the accumulated sawdust from the guide groove and the oil supply opening. Lubricate the front sprocket through the lubrication hole at the front of the chain stay. (4) Oil supply opening (5) Lubrication opening (6) Gear wheelMODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
Check the device for fuel leaks, loose fasteners and damage to key components, in particular handles and chain stay attachment. If a defect is found, it must be repaired before the next start-up. If the device falls unintentionally onto the ground, it must be checked for damage as above and, if necessary, repaired before the next use.
Dust trapped between the cylinder fins can cause the engine to overheat. The cylinder fins must therefore be cleaned regularly after removing the air filter and cylinder cover. When fitting the cylinder cover, make sure that the switch wires and grommets are properly seated.
(a) Use a bent wire to remove the filter from the filling opening. (1) Fuel filter (b) Dismantle the filter and wash it out with petrol or replace the filter if necessary
Saw chain To ensure safe and proper operation, the saw teeth must always be sharp. The saw teeth must be filed down when: - the sawdust assumes a powdery state - additional force is required for the cut - a straight cut is no longer possible - the vibrations become stronger - the fuel consumption rises Instructions for filing the saw teeth: Always wear safety gloves. Before filing: - Make sure the saw-chain is securely fastened. - Make sure that the engine is switched off - Be sure to use a round file with the size suitable for the chain: FX-KS126: 3/8 pitch / 1.3mm groove width See detailed information under technical data Place the file on the saw tooth and press it forward in a straight line after. Keep the position of the file as shown in the illustration.
After each saw tooth has been refiled, place a depth gauge on top and refile the saw teeth to the correct size. Make sure that the front edges are rounded to reduce the risk of kickback or tearing of the retaining straps.MODE D´EMPLOI ORIGINAL FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02

- Turn the chain stay over from time to time to prevent one-sided wear.
- The guide groove of the chain stay must always be at right angles, so check the groove for wear from time to time. Place a ruler against the chain stay and the outside of a saw tooth. If there is a gap between the ruler and the chain stay, the guide groove is in order. If there is no clearance, the guide is worn out. In this case the chain stay must be turned over or replaced. (1) Ruler (2) Distance (3) No distance (4) Chain runs crooked
12. Transport and storage
- During transport and when changing location during work, the chainsaw must be switched off and the chain brake must be released to prevent the chain from starting up accidentally. - Never carry and transport the chainsaw with the saw chain running! - When transport/storage over a longer distance, the supplied rail guard must be fitted in any case. - Only carry the chainsaw by its handle. The saw-bar points to the rear after the saw. Do not come into contact with the muffler (risk of burns). - Store the chainsaw safe in a dry area. The saw must not be stored outdoors. Do not make the chainsaw accessible to children. - When storing and shipping the chainsaw for a longer period of time, the fuel and oil tank must be completely empty. In vehicles: Secure the device against tipping over, damage and fuel leakage.Original user manual FUXTEC FX-KS226_de_en_fr_ita_rev02
