What is the warranty duration of the Balmain Classic R watch?

The Balmain Classic R watch comes with an international warranty of 24 months from the date of purchase, covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty is valid upon presentation of the certificate duly completed and stamped by an official dealer.

How to change the watch battery?

It is recommended to have the battery changed by an authorized Balmain Swiss Watches service center or an authorized dealer. Use a silver oxide and zinc button cell. A depleted battery should be replaced quickly to avoid leakage.

What does the 4-second jump of the second hand mean?

A 4-second jump indicates that the battery is near the end of its life (EOL indicator). It is time to have the battery replaced by a Balmain Swiss Watches dealer.

How to set the time on the watch?

Pull the crown to the extreme position (position 2 or 3 depending on model). Turn the crown in the desired direction to set the hands. Push the crown back fully to position 1. For perfect synchronization, use the stop-second function.

How to set the date on the watch?

Pull the crown to the intermediate position (position 2). Turn the crown in the desired direction to correct the date. Push the crown back fully to position 1. Avoid setting the date between 10 PM and 2 AM to avoid damaging the mechanism.

Is my Balmain Classic R watch waterproof?

Yes, your watch is water-resistant, but it is essential to have the water resistance checked before each swimming season and after a shock. Water resistance can be lost without visible signs.

What to do if the crown is screw-down?

If your watch is equipped with a screw-down crown, unscrew it by turning counterclockwise before each use. After setting, push it back and screw it firmly to position 1 to ensure water resistance.

Can I swim with my Balmain Classic R watch?

Yes, if the water resistance has been checked. However, after a shock, water resistance may be compromised. Never operate the crown in wet conditions. It is advisable to have the water resistance checked before each swimming season.

How to maintain my watch?

Wipe the watch with a soft cloth. Avoid contact with chemicals. Have the water resistance checked regularly. For battery replacement, entrust it to an authorized professional.

What does the warranty cover and what are the exclusions?

Your Balmain watch is warranted by Balmain Swiss Watches® for a period of twenty-four (24) months from the date of purchase under the terms and conditions of this warranty. The international Balmain Swiss Watches warranty covers material and manufacturing defects existing at the time of delivery of the purchased Balmain watch. The warranty only comes into force if the warranty certificate is dated, fully and correctly completed and stamped by an official Balmain Swiss Watches dealer.

During the warranty period and by presenting the valid warranty certificate, you will have the right to have any defect repaired free of charge. In the event that repairs are improper to restore the normal conditions of use of your watch, Balmain Swiss Watches guarantees its replacement by a Balmain watch of identical or similar characteristics. The warranty for the replacement watch ends twenty-four (24) months after the date of purchase of the replaced watch.

This manufacturer's warranty does not cover:

— the life of the battery;

— normal wear and tear and aging (e.g. scratched crystal; alteration of the colour and/or material of non metallic straps and chains, such as leather, textile, rubber; peeling of the plating);

— any damage on any part of the watch resulting from abnormal / abusive use, lack of care, negligence, accidents (knocks, dents, crushing, broken crystal, etc.), incorrect use of the watch and non-observance of the use directions provided by Balmain Swiss Watches;

— indirect or consequential damages of any kind resulting from e.g. the use, the non-functioning, the defects or the inaccuracy of the Balmain watch;

— the Balmain Swiss Watches watch handled by non-authorized persons (e.g. for battery replacement, services or repairs) or which has been altered in its original condition beyond Balmain Swiss Watches' control.

Any further claim against Balmain Swiss Watches e.g. for damages additional to the above described warranty is expressly excluded, except mandatory statutory rights the purchaser may have against the manufacturer.

The above manufacturer's warranty:

— is independent of any warranty that may be provided by the seller, for which he carries sole responsibility;
— does not affect the purchaser's rights against the seller nor any other mandatory statutory rights the purchaser may have against the seller.

EOL: The majority of Balmain Swiss Watches models are equipped with a battery end-of-live indicator to show when the EOL battery has become exhausted (ref. cal. 176. and 178.). A jump of 4 seconds indicates that it is time to have the battery replaced at an autho rised Balmain Swiss Watches agent.

Replacing the battery

We recommend that you contact an approved Balmain Swiss Watches service centre or authorised Balmain Swiss Watches retailer, as they are equipped with the tools and apparatus required to carry out the work and the necessary checks in a professional manner. A worn-out battery should be replaced immediately in order to reduce the risk of leakage and consequent damage to the movement.

This symbol indicates that this product should not be disposed with household waste. It has to be returned to a local authorized collection system. Precautions regarding water-resistance

If your watch is water-resistant it is essential that the seals are checked each year before the bathing season because, without your realising it, they might have been damaged as the result of a shock.

If the case has to be opened for any reason the seals for the glass and the case-back as well as the crown (and/or push-pieces) must be checked and, if necessary, replaced.

Screw-in crown and push-pieces

Certain models have a screw-in crown which has to be unscrewed before each adjustment by turning it anti-clockwise.

After use, return the crown to position 2, then push in and screw in firmly in position 1 to ensure that the seal with the case is water-resistant.

The same applies for the screw-in push-pieces.

Important! You should always push the crown (and/or the push-pieces) right in and screw in firmly to ensure a water-resistant seal with the case. The crown (and/or push-pieces) should never be adjusted if the watch is in a humid atmosphere.

Adjusting the time

Pull the crown right out to position 2. Adjust the hands by turning the crown in either direction. Push the crown back in to position 1.

Adjusting the time and stop seconds

Pull the crown right out to position 3. The seconds hand will now stop. Adjust the time by turning the crown in either direction. Synchronise your watch with a time signal (telephone, radio, TV) and then push the crown back in to position I. The seconds hand will jump again exactly one second later (logical function of adjusting the time), which means that your watch will now be perfectly synchronised with the time signal.
