We thank you for purchasing a GUTFELS appliance.
Please take a few minutes before starting operation of the appliance and read the following instruction manual.
Keep the instruction manual in a safe place for future reference. Pass it on to the new owner if the appliance is sold or given away.

1. Description
This appliance is intended exclusively for making waffles.
The appliance is intended exclusively for use in private households and is not suitable for commercial use.
The appliance is only intended for indoor use.
Use the appliance only as described in this instruction manual. Any other form of use does not constitute an intended use and can result in material damage or personal injury.
The manufacturer or dealer accepts no liability for damage or injury resulting from improper use or use for other than the intended purpose.
For safety reasons, modifications or alterations to the appliance are not permitted.
2. Safety warnings

Symbol explanation

Read this instruction manual carefully before using the appliance. Familiarise yourself with the operation, adjustments and functions of switches. Internalise and follow the safety and operation instructions in order to avoid possible risks and hazards.

Remove all packaging materials.

WARNING - DANGER OF SUFFOCATION!
Packaging materials are not toys. Children should not play with the packaging materials, as they pose a risk of swallowing and suffocation!

WARNING! Switch the appliance off and disconnect it from the power supply before cleaning work and when not in use.

WARNING - RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
Protect the appliance and its electrical parts against moisture. Do not immerse the appliance and its electrical parts in water or other liquids to avoid electrical shock. Never hold the appliance under running water. Pay attention to the instructions for cleaning and care.

WARNING! Do not operate the appliance with wet hands or while standing on a wet floor. Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.

WARNING – HOT SURFACE!
The surfaces are liable to get hot during use.

This appliance is classified as protection class I and must be connected to a protective ground.

Only use in dry indoor rooms.

Safety of certain groups of people
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
• Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
- Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
Improper use
- The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
- This appliance is not suitable for commercial use. It is only intended to be used in the household.
- The use of extension cords, multiple plugs or power strips is prohibited due to the associated fire hazard.
- Never use accessories which are not recommended by the manufacturer. They could pose a safety risk to the user and might damage the appliance. Only use original parts and accessories.
- Do not pull the power plug out of the electrical outlet by the power cord and do not wrap the power cord around the appliance.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended during operation.
- Make sure that the appliance has sufficient space around it and does not come in contact with flammable material. The appliance must not be covered.
- WARNING! Misuse may lead to injury. Use this appliance solely in accordance with these instructions. Do not attempt to modify the appliance in any way.
- Danger of electric shock! Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself. In case of malfunction, repairs are to be conducted by qualified personnel or

- Always place and operate the appliance on an even, stable, dry and heat-resistant surface able to hold the weight of the appliance.
- Regarding the instructions for cleaning surfaces in contact with food, please refer to chapter "After use".
Residual risks
- Risk of scalding! Beware of escaping hot steam during operation.
- Risk of burns! Always use the handle when opening and closing the appliance.
- Connect the mains plug to an easily accessible socket, in order to quickly disconnect the appliance from the mains supply in an emergency.

Electrical safety
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- Ensure the rated voltage shown on the rating label corresponds with the voltage of the power supply.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged power cord or plug, when the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. - Protect the power cord against damages. Do not let it hang over sharp edges, do not squeeze or bend it. Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces and open flames and ensure that nobody can pull on or trip over it unintentionally.
- Do not open the housing under any circumstances. Do not insert fingers or foreign objects in any opening of the appliance and do not obstruct the air vents.
- Protect the appliance against heat. Do not place close to open flames or heat sources such as stoves or heating appliances.
3. Before first use
- Clean the appliance ( After use). - Operate the appliance without waffle dough on the baking plates for approx. 10 minutes. Residues from the manufacturing process are released and smoke and odours may be given off. This is normal and does not indicate a defect or hazard. After the appliance has cooled down completely, clean it again.
- NOTE: Also dispose of the first baked waffles since the flavour can still be influenced by remaining manufacturing residues. After first use, this does not have to be repeated.

NOTES:
• After choosing the baking program and browning level, the appliance starts preheating and the selected browning level flashes. Once the appliance has reached the necessary temperature, an acoustic signal sounds and the browning level lights up continuously.
- An acoustic signal sounds when the baking process is finished. Afterwards, the appliance continues to preheat.
- The baking process takes between approx. 2-10 minutes, depending on the selected baking program and browning level.
- In CUSTOM baking program, the timer on the display starts to count up from 00:00 after the appliance has preheated to the necessary temperature. The baking process can be manually stopped by pressing the POWER button.
- The baking plates are covered with a non-stick coating. To avoid damaging it, do not use pointed or hard utensils, such as metal spatulas. Instead, use spatulas made from wood or plastic.
- When the appliance has operated for 2 hours continuously, it turns off automatically.
- Unlock the lock when the appliance is operating. It is only intended to be locked for vertical storage.
5. After use
Cleaning
- Before cleaning, switch off and unplug the appliance and let it cool down completely.
- Never use solvents, abrasive cleaners or alcohol to clean the appliance. Do not clean the appliance with flammable cleaning agents.

Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. Never hold the appliance under running water. Make sure that no water enters the appliance while cleaning it.
• The appliance is not dishwasher safe.
• After each use, clean the body of the appliance and the baking plates with a soft damp cloth and, if necessary, a little mild detergent. Wipe with a dry and soft cloth. -
If the appliance has not been used for a long time, clean it thoroughly before using it again.
- The appliance may only be used again after it is dried completely.
Storage
- Before storage, always make sure that the appliance is clean, completely dry and cooled down.
- Wind the power cord around the cord storage at the bottom of the appliance.
- Store the appliance in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture and out of the reach of children.
- Preferably store the appliance in its original packaging.
6. Troubleshooting
Overheating protection
When the appliance is about to overheat, it turns off automatically to prevent damage. In this case, disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply and let it cool down completely before using it again.
7. Disposal

This symbol means that the product must not be disposed of as unsorted waste with normal household waste, but must be brought to separate collection points for reuse and recycling.
The disposal must comply with the existing local regulations.
For disposal, the product must be taken to a collection point for recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.
8. Warranty
The following terms describing the preconditions for and scope of our warranty do not infringe the warranty rights of the ultimate buyer.
Our warranty for this appliance is granted under the following terms:
As a buyer of a Gutfels appliance you have a manufacturer's warranty (2 years from date of purchase).
During this warranty period, you can make your warranty claims directly on the manufacturer's Service platform at
www.ggv-service.de.
If an additional warranty is concluded between you and your dealer, all claims against the manufacturer will become void after the end of the 24-month manufacturer's warranty. In this case, please contact your dealer directly.
Warranty period
The warranty period is 24 months from the date of purchase (proof of purchase must be presented). During the first 6 months, After Sales Service will fix defects in the appliance free of charge on condition that the appliance is accessible for repairs without any great effort. During the following 18 months, the buyer is obliged to prove that the defect already existed at the time of delivery.
In the case of commercial use (e.g. in hotels, canteens) or joint use by several households, the warranty period is 12 months from the date of purchase (proof of purchase must be presented). During the first 6 months, After Sales Service will fix defects in the appliance free of charge on condition that the appliance is accessible for repairs without any great effort. During the following 6 months, the buyer is obliged to prove that the defect already existed at the time of delivery.
The claim under warranty does not prolong the warranty period for either the appliance or for newly installed parts.
Scope of the defect remedy
Within the aforementioned periods, we shall remedy all defects in the appliance that are demonstrably due to defective workmanship or material defects. Replaced parts become our property.
The warranty does not cover:
Normal wear and tear, intentional or negligent damage, damage caused by non-compliance with the operating instructions, improper set-up or installation or by connection to incorrect mains voltage, damage due to chemical or electrothermal effects or due to other abnormal environmental conditions, glass, paint or enamel damage and possible colour differences as well as defective bulbs.
Defects in the appliance resulting from transport damage are also not covered. We also do not provide any services if - without our special written approval - work has been carried out on the appliance by unauthorised persons or parts of third-party origin have been used. This limitation shall not apply to faultless work carried out by a qualified person using our original parts to adapt the appliance to the technical safety regulations of another EU member state.
Scope
Our warranty applies to appliances purchased and in operation in the Federal Republic of Germany or Austria.
In the case of complaints about defective appliances, the sender's and recipient's addresses must be in the Federal Republic of Germany or Austria.
For appliances purchased and operated in other European countries, the warranty conditions of the seller apply.
9. CE marking

A conformity assessment procedure has proven that this product was manufactured in accordance with European directives.
With the CE marking, the manufacturer declares to the responsible EU authorities that the appliance meets the applicable conformity requirements, which are specified in the relevant legal provisions of the European Union and in harmonized standards.
A successful completion of the conformity assessment procedure entitles to affix the CE mark.
