How to install the ABUS SE1000 removable key switch?

Loosen the cover screws with the angled hex key, remove the cover, remove the two screws of the plate, then gently pull out the plate. Mark the fixing holes on the wall, drill, insert the cable, fix the back part, connect the terminals according to the diagram (see manual), then reassemble the plate and cover, tightening the screws.

Can I use this switch to control a garage door?

Yes, the SE1000 removable key switch can control other electronic devices such as machinery or garage doors, depending on the setting (permanent or impulse). Respect the maximum contact load (30 V DC / 0.5 A).

What is the difference between permanent and impulse modes?

In permanent mode, the switch maintains the state (ON/OFF) after turning the key. In impulse mode, it sends a brief pulse when the key is turned, then returns to the initial state. The factory setting is permanent.

How do I change the switching mode from permanent to impulse?

Remove the upper part of the clamp at the push buttons and set it aside. This changes the switch behavior to impulse mode. The procedure is described in the installation manual.

What should I do if the LED does not light up?

Check the power supply: the LED requires a voltage of 10-15 V DC and consumes max. 2 mA. Ensure the connections are correct and the wiring follows the diagram. If the problem persists, contact ABUS after-sales service.

Is the switch weather-resistant?

Yes, the housing is stable and weather-resistant with a protection rating of IP55, protecting against dust and water jets. Use the supplied round gasket to ensure sealing in surface mounting.

Notes

The key switch is equipped with a burglary/tamper sensor and is used for switching on or off the alarm system of an entire location or sections of the location.

It can also be used for controlling other electronic equipment such as machines, garage doors, etc.

The key switch functions as an impulse or permanent contact, depending on the settings. The key switch is well protected against external interference, thanks to the cover contact and the anti-removal wall contact (surface-fitted model only), as well as the reinforced fascia plate, which prevents removal of the high-quality ABUS cylinder.

Changing switch mode (impulse/permanent contact)

1. The factory setting of the key switch is permanent contact. To change the switch mode:

2. Remove the upper part of the clamp and swing it to the side.

3. The key switch is now set to impulse mode.

Installation

1. Using the key supplied, unscrew the cover screws and remove the cover plate.
2. Remove the two PCB screws on the left and right of the cylinder.
3. Pull the cylinder and PCB carefully upwards and out.
4. Use the back of the key-switch case as a template for marking the drill holes (2). Drill the holes for the fixing screws.
5. Pull the connector cable through the opening provided.
6. Fix the casing to or in the wall.
7. Connect the cables to the terminal block (8) as described.
8. Replace the PCB in the casing, replace the cover (1) and tighten the cover screws. Make sure that the sealing ring sits firmly in the housing groove.
