> Insert the adapter plate into the DIGITRADIO 231 OD as far as it will go (2). Fold up the two securing lugs (3) and hand-tighten the screws. As soon as an auxiliary baery (charged) is plugged in, power is supplied via the auxiliary baery. If the auxiliary baery is flat, power is supplied by the internal baery.104 The auxiliary baery cannot be charged in the DIGITRADIO 231 OD. To do this, remove the baery from the DIGITRADIO 231 OD and use the original charger from your baery manufacturer. If the DIGITRADIO 231 OD is operated with an 18 V auxiliary baery or the mains adapter, the boost mode is activated. With this the music power is 2 x 15 W. > Close the baery compartment cover again by first inserting it at the boom (4) and then snapping it into place at the top (5) :105
The number and quality of broadcast stations depends on the reception conditions at the location of the radio. Excellent reception can be achieved using the telescopic antenna (18). > Align the telescopic antenna (18) and extend it. The exact alignment of the telescopic antenna is oen important, in particular at the fringes of the DAB+ reception area. You can quickly find the location of the nearest transmission tower online by visiting “www.dabplus.de”. Start the first scan by a window facing in the direction of the broadcasting mast. Bad weather may cause the DAB+ reception to be restricted. Do not touch the telescopic antenna during station playback. This could reduce the reception and lead to sound dropouts.106
6.3.3 Using headphones
Hearing impairment! Do not listen to the radio at a high volume with headphones. Doing so can cause permanent hearing impairment. Turn down the radio volume to the lowest volume before using headphones. Only use headphones with a 3.5 mm jack plug. > Insert the headphone plug into the headphone jack (14) on the back of DIGITRADIO 231 OD. Sound is now played exclusively through the headphones; the speaker is muted. > If you want to use the speakers again, unplug the headphones from the headphone jack on the device.107
