Frequently Asked Questions - GSH3SVLTC2 Güde

How to adjust the shade level of the mask?
Use the side knob to adjust the DIN level between 5-9 or 9-13 depending on the application. Refer to the table on page 7 of the manual to choose the correct setting based on the welding current.
What to do if the filter does not darken automatically?
Check the cleanliness of the sensor and the protective glass. Make sure the battery is charged and the sensitivity setting is not too low. If the problem persists, stop welding and contact the manufacturer.
How to replace the battery?
The mask uses a rechargeable Li-ion battery (3.7V / 1000 mAh) or a Li-CR 2450 battery. To replace it, refer to the manual. Use only original Güde replacement batteries.
Can I use this mask for laser or oxyacetylene welding?
No, this mask is not suitable for laser or oxyacetylene welding. It is designed only for electric arc welding with automatic UV/IR protection.
How to clean the mask and the ADF filter?
Clean with a soft, dry cloth, pure alcohol or a disinfectant. Do not use denatured alcohol, gasoline, or thinner. Never immerse the ADF filter in water.
What to do in case of reduced visibility?
Clean the protective glass and the cover. Make sure the ambient lighting is sufficient. Check the shade level setting. Replace the glasses if they are scratched or damaged.
What is the permitted operating temperature?
The mask must be used between -5 °C and +40 °C. Outside this range, the filter reaction time slows down, reducing protection.
Can I use this mask for overhead welding?
No, the mask is not suitable for overhead welding or overhead grinding or cutting work. Droplets of molten metal can burn the ADF filter and cause injury.
How to activate grinding mode?
Set the mask to "GRINDING" mode. In this mode, the DIN 4 light shade level remains active and the mask does not darken. Note, this setting does not provide protection against the welding arc.
What is the service life of the mask?
Güde recommends a maximum service life of 5 years. It depends on use, cleaning, storage, and maintenance. Regularly inspect the mask and replace it if damaged.

Disposal

The disposal instructions are based on the icons placed on the appliance or its package.

Transport packaging disposal

The packaging protects the machine against damage during transport. Packaging materials are usually chosen based on environment aspects and waste treatment principles and are therefore recyclable. Returning the packaging into material circulation saves raw materials and reduces waste production. Parts of packagings (e.g. foils, styropor®) can be dangerous for children.

Do not dispose of electrical appliances in household waste; use the local collection points. Ask your local authority where the collection points are to be found. If electrical equipment is disposed of in an uncontrolled manner, weathering can lead to dangerous substances entering the groundwater and from there the food chain, or the flora and fauna can be poisoned for years. If you replace the device with a new one, the seller is legally obliged at the least to take back the old one to be disposed of free of charge.
