How to turn on the Testo 4102 anemometer?

Press the ⏻ button (on/off) briefly to turn on the device. The display lights up and measurement mode opens.

How to change the measurement unit (m/s, km/h, etc.)?

Turn off the device, then press and hold the button for 2 seconds to enter configuration mode. Use the ▲ button to select the desired unit (m/s, km/h, fpm, mph, kts, Beaufort) and confirm with the Mode button.

What to do if the display shows 'Lo' or 'Hi'?

The 'Lo' or 'Hi' values indicate that the measurement is outside the allowed range. Check that air velocity is between 0.4 and 20 m/s, temperature between -10 and 50 °C, and humidity between 0 and 100 %RH. If the problem persists, replace the batteries.

How to activate the display backlight?

When the device is on, press the ⏻ button to turn on the display backlight. It turns off automatically after 10 seconds of inactivity.

How to replace the batteries of the Testo 4102?

Slide the battery compartment cover (on the back) downwards to open. Remove the old batteries and insert two new 1.5 V type AAA batteries, respecting polarity. Close the cover by sliding it upwards.

How to perform a time average measurement of airflow?

Press Mode several times until 'Hold' and 'Avg' are displayed. Hold down Mode until '- - - -' appears, then release: the average measurement starts. To finish, press Mode; the calculated average is displayed.

How to display the maximum and minimum values?

Press the selection button (▼/▲) several times until 'Max' or 'Min' is displayed. To reset these values, hold down Mode until '- - - -' appears.

What type of batteries to use and what is the battery life?

Use two 1.5 V type AAA alkaline batteries. Battery life is approximately 60 hours without using the backlight.

How to clean the anemometer?

Clean the housing with a damp cloth (soapy water). Never use solvents or aggressive cleaning products, as they could damage the device.

What to do if the device does not turn on?

First check the batteries: replace them if necessary. Ensure the batteries are inserted with correct polarity. If the problem persists, contact Testo customer service.

First steps

▶ Inserting batteries:

1 To open the battery compartment, push the battery cover down.
2 Insert batteries (2x 1.5 V type AAA). Observe the polarity!
3 To close the battery compartment, push the battery cover back on.

▶ Basic settings (configuration mode):

• Auto off function: OFF, ON (instrument switches off automatically if no key is pressed for 10 minutes)

1 When switching the instrument on, press and hold ⏻ until ▲ and ← appear on the display (configuration mode). - The adjustable function is displayed. The current setting flashes.

2 Press ⬆ (▲) several times until the desired setting flashes.
3 Press Mode (←) to confirm the input.

4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all functions.

- The instrument changes to measuring mode.

Using the product

To ensure correct readings:

- Position instrument so that flow impacts at the rear.

- Keep temperature and humidity sources which may falsify the measurement (e.g. hands) away from the sensor.

▶ Switching the instrument on:

- Measuring mode is opened.

▶ Switching the display light on:

√ The instrument is switched on.

Press ⏻.

- The display light goes out automatically if no key is pressed for 10 seconds.

▶ Changing the parameter:

The parameter in the top display line can be changed. The bottom display line always shows the temperature.

- Current reading

- Hold: Readings are held.

- Max: Maximum values since the instrument was last switched on or last reset.

- Min: Minimum values since the instrument was last switched on or last reset.

- Hold Avg: Timed mean value calculation, see below.

Press Mode several times until the desired view appears.

➢ Timed mean value calculation for flow:

1 Press Mode several times, until Hold and Avg appear in the display. The last result of mean value calculation is displayed.

2 Hold Mode down until ---- appears. Releasing Mode starts mean value calculation automatically, the current readings are displayed.

3 End measurement: press Modc The mean value is displayed.
4 For further mean value calculation: hold down Mode
5 End mean value calculation: press 📂 briefly.

▶ Resetting Max/Min values:

1 Press Mode several times until the desired view appears.
2 Press Mode and hold until - - - - appears.
3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all values that are to be reset.

Switching the instrument off:

Press ⏻ and hold until the display goes out.

Maintaining the product

Changing batteries:

1 To open the battery compartment, push the battery cover down.
2 Remove used batteries and insert new batteries (2x 1.5 V type AAA). Observe the polarity!
3 To close the battery compartment, push the battery cover back on.

▶ Cleaning the housing:

Clean the housing with a moist cloth (soap suds) if it is dirty. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or solvents!
