How to turn on the device?

Briefly press the ⏻ button.

How to change the velocity measurement unit?

Turn off the device, hold the Ⓞ button for 2 s to enter configuration mode. Use the ⬆ or ⬇ buttons to select the desired unit (m/s, km/h, fpm, mph, kts, Beaufort) and confirm with Mode.

How to use the Hold function?

Press the Mode button several times until Hold is displayed. The measurement values are then frozen on the screen.

How to perform a time average of the flow?

Press Mode several times until Hold and Avg are shown. Hold Mode until ---- appears. Release to start averaging. Press Mode to finish and display the average.

What does 'Hi' or 'Lo' on the display mean?

These indications mean that the measured value is outside the permitted measurement range. Check the measurement conditions and observe the ranges specified in the technical data.

How to turn off the device?

Hold the ⏻ button until the display turns off (approx. 2 s).

How to change the batteries?

Slide the battery compartment cover down. Remove the used batteries and insert two new AAA 1.5 V batteries, observing polarity. Close the cover.

How to clean the device?

Clean the housing with a damp cloth and soapy water. Do not use solvents or aggressive cleaning products.

What to do if the display shows nothing?

Check that the batteries are correctly inserted and not empty. If the problem persists, contact Testo after-sales service.

What is the battery life?

Approximately 100 hours without using the backlight. Frequent use of the backlight reduces this time.

Specifications

The testo 410-1 is a flow/temperature measuring instrument. It is normally used to measure the air speed at ventilation outlets. In addition to the measurement of temperature, climatic conditions can also be analysed.

First steps

▶ Inserting batteries:

1 To open the battery compartment, push the battery cover down.
2 Insert batteries (2x 1.5 V type AAA). Observe the polarity!
3 To close the battery compartment, push the battery cover back on.

▶ Basic settings (configuration mode):

Adjustable functions

• Unit of temperature: ^ C,^ F
• Unit of velocity: m/s, km/h, fpm, mph, kts, Beau
• Auto off function: OFF, ON (instrument switches off automatically if no key is pressed for 10 minutes)

1 When switching the instrument on, press and hold until ▲ and ← appear on the display (configuration mode).

- The adjustable function is displayed. The current setting flashes.

2 Press ⬆ (▲several times until the desired setting flashes.

3 Press Mode (←) to confirm the input.

4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all functions. - The instrument changes to measuring mode.

Using the product

To ensure correct readings, align the instrument so that it has its back to the flow.

▶ Switching the instrument on:

Press ⏻.

- Measuring mode is opened.

▶ Switching the display light on:

√ The instrument is switched on.

Press ⏻.

- The display light goes out automatically if no key is pressed for 10 seconds.

▶ Changing the parameter:

The parameter in the top display line can be changed. The bottom display line always shows the temperature.

- Wind chill temperature ( ) perceived temperature (only deviates from ambient temperature at temperatures < 10^ / < 50^ and wind speeds >1.34m / s / >264 fpm)

Press ⬆ several times until the desired parameter appears.

- Hold: Readings are held.

- Max: Maximum values since the instrument was last switched on or last reset.

- Min: Minimum values since the instrument was last switched on or last reset.

- Hold Avg: Timed mean value calculation, see below.

Press Mode several times until the desired view appears.

▶ Timed mean value calculation for flow:

1 Press Mode several times, until Hold and Avg appear in the display. The last result of mean value calculation is displayed.

2 Hold Mode down until ---- appears. Releasing Mode starts mean value calculation automatically, the current readings are displayed.

3 End measurement: press Mod. The mean value is displayed.

4 For further mean value calculation: hold down Mode

5 End mean value calculation: press Ⓜ briefly.

Resetting Max/Min values:

1 Press 📂 several times until the desired view appears.

2 Press Mode and hold until ---- appears.

3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all values that are to be reset.

Switching the instrument off:

Press ⏻ and hold until the display goes out.

Maintaining the product

Changing batteries:

1 To open the battery compartment, push the battery cover down.
2 Remove used batteries and insert new batteries (2x 1.5 V type AAA). Observe the polarity!
3 To close the battery compartment, push the battery cover back on.

▶ Cleaning the housing:

Clean the housing with a moist cloth (soap suds) if it is dirty. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or solvents!
