A sanding disc contacting a ‘live’ wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool ‘live’ and could give the operator an electric shock.• Use clamps or another practical way to secure the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the workpiece by hand or against the body makes it unstable and may lead to loss of control.a. ALWAYS wear appropriate protective equipment, including a dust mask with a minimum FFP2 rating, eye protection and ear defendersb. Ensure all people in the vicinity of the work area are also equipped with suitable personal protective equipmentc. Take special care when sanding some woods (such as beech, oak, mahogany and teak), as the dust produced is toxic and can cause extreme reactions d. NEVER use to process any materials containing asbestos. Consult a qualied professional, if you are uncertain whether an object contains asbestose. DO NOT sand magnesium or alloys containing a high percentage of magnesium 953705_Manual.indd 7 25/03/2020 12:12GB
f. Be aware of paint finishes or t eatments that may have been applied to the material that is being sanded. Many treatments can create dust that is toxic, or otherwise harmful. Ifworking on a building constructed prior to 1960, there is an increased chance of encountering lead-based paintsg. The dust produced when sanding lead-based paints is particularly hazardous to children, pregnant women, and people with high blood pressure. DO NOT allow these people near to the work area, even if wearing appropriate personal protective equipmenth. Whenever possible, use a vacuum dust extraction system to control dust and wastei. Be especially careful when using a tool for both wood and metal sanding. Sparks from metal can easily ignite wood dust. ALWAYS clean your tool thoroughly to reduce the risk of re . Empty the dust bag or container (where applicable) frequently during use, before taking breaks and after completion of sanding. Dust may be an explosion hazard. DO NOT throw sanding dust into an open re. Spontaneous combustion may occur when oil or water particles come into contact with dust particles. Dispose of waste materials carefully and in accordance with local laws and regulations.k. Work surfaces and sandpaper can become very hot during use. If there is evidence of burning (smoke or ash), from the work surface, stop and allow the material to cool.DO NOT touch work surface or sandpaper until they have had time to cooll. DO NOT touch the moving sandpaperm. ALWAYS switch off before you put the sander down n. DO NOT use for wet sanding. Liquids entering the motor housing can cause severe electric shockso. Once charging commences, only the Red LED (15) will illuminate Note: If the Red LED is not constantly illuminated after an uncharged Battery is inserted into the Charger, the Battery or Charger may be faulty. Recheck the Battery is fully inserted in the Battery Charger. If the fault persists do not use and contact your authorised Silverline distributer.3. When the Battery is fully-charged, only the Green LED (16) will be illuminated Battery Charge Level The Battery has a built-in Battery Charge Indicator (8). Pressing on the button to the right will indicate the charge level. The number of bars that illuminate when the button is pressed indicate the charge level; 1 bar indicating a low charge, 3 bars indicating a full charge. IMPORTANT: When a low charge level is indicated, be aware the tool may stop operating while in use. This may be dangerous. It is recommended to always ensure the Battery has a good charge level. Notes about battery charging IMPORTANT: Batteries are an expendable supply whose capacity shortens over time.Always adhere to the correct handling and charging instructions in the manual. If the battery does not hold charge or working time is shortened, purchase a genuine Silverline replacement. • The battery should be charged at ambient temperatures between 10°C and 40°C (ideally around 20°C)• After charging, allow 15 minutes for the battery to cool before use• Ensure that the charger is disconnected from the mains supply after use, and is stored correctly• Do not leave batteries on charge for extended periods and never store batteries on charge • The charger monitors battery temperature and voltage while charging. Remove the battery once charging has been completed to maximise charge cycles of the battery and not waste power• Batteries can become faulty over time, individual cells in the battery can fail, and the battery could short. The charger will not charge faulty batteries. Use another battery, if possible, to check correct functionality of the charger and purchase a replacement battery if a faulty battery is indicated• Do not store Lithium-ion battery packs in a discharged state long term. This can damage the Lithium-ion cells. For long-term storage, store batteries in a high charge state disconnected from the power tool• The capacity of batteries will reduce over time. After 100 charge cycles, the battery’s operation time and the performance will slightly reduce. This decline will continue until the battery has minimal capacity after 500 charge cycles. This is normal and not a fault with the battery pack Selecting the right grade of Sanding Disc Note: Always use good quality Sanding Discs to maximise the quality of the finished task. Always test the Sanding Disc on a scrap piece of material to determine whether it is suitable for the intended task:• Coarse (60 grit) for use on rough material • Medium (120 grit) for smoothing off

WARNING: The dust produced from working with some materials can be toxic. Beech, oak,
mahogany and teak natural woods, man-made composite woods and some surface treatments, including paint with lead, are toxic. Lead-based paint is common in buildings built before 1960. Always wear suitable respiratory protection; for example, a respirator face mask. Use a dust extraction system or regularly vacuum the work area to prevent the build-up of dust. In addition, vacuum the work area after the work has been completed. Most dust is a fire hazard. Overhead work surfaces have an increased safety risk for dust. WARNING: Do not touch the moving Sanding Disc.
WARNING: Ensure foreign objects, such as nails and screws, are removed from the workpiece
before starting to sand.• Allow the tool to reach the required speed before making contact with the workpiece.• Move the machine in a circular motion over the workpiece surface, applying an even, moderate pressure until you reach the desired surface finis
- The removal rate and the sanding pattern are determined by the type of Sanding Disc (10) and the applied pressure• Pay particular attention to applying uniform sanding pressure; this increases the working life ofthe Sanding Discs• Excessive pressure does not result in more effective or faster sanding capacity, but will cause premature wear of the Sanding Disc and increase wear and tear on the tool• Regularly brush down or vacuum the surface being sanded to ensure the Sanding Disc is in direct contact with the surface• Wait until the machine has stopped completely before putting it down. IMPORTANT: Do not continue to use worn, torn or heavily clogged sanding discs.
