This operating manual describes how to operate and maintain your product safely. Keep this operating manual in a safe place for future reference. Intended use

• This shower radio is designed for audio playback via Bluetooth or an audio cable. You can use smartphones, tablet PCs, laptops or MP3 players as playback devices.
• The device is not suitable for commercial use.

Safety

• Children must not play with the product.
• The device contains a lithium-ion battery. It must not be disassembled, thrown into a fire or short-circuited. Risk of explosion! Protect the built-in battery from excessive heat. The battery is firmly installed in the device and cannot and must not be replaced or removed. Improper removal of the battery may result in a risk of explosion. If the battery is defective, contact our service or a specialist workshop.

DANGER for children

• Keep packaging material away from children. There is a risk of choking if swallowed.

DANGER from electricity

• Do not make any modifications to the item or to the connection cable. Only allow repairs to be carried out at a specialist workshop, since inexpertly repaired devices can present hazards to the user.
• Do not open the housing and do not insert any objects into the housing apertures.
• Do not place any containers filled with liquids on or near the device. The container may tip over and the leaking fluid may adversely affect the electrical safety.
• Do not charge the shower radio when it is in the wet area (shower, bath, etc.).

WARNING of burns/fire

• Do not operate the device near naked flames (e.g. candles) and do not place any burning candles on or near the device.
• While charging, the device may become hot. When charging, place the device in a well-ventilated area and do not cover it.

Note on material damage

• The shower radio is protected from moisture, but neither it nor the supplied cables should be immersed in water or other liquids. Protect the device from excessive moisture, direct sunlight and dirt.
• Before using in the wet area, make sure that the rubber tab is present and securely covers the connection sockets located underneath.
• Do not connect the radio to a speaker output of a separate power amplifier. This would damage the radio.
• Condensation can build up inside the radio if you move it from a very cold place to a very warm place. Wait a few hours before turning on the radio.
• Keep magnetic stripe ID cards, credit cards, etc. away from the device. The built-in magnets inside the radio could damage them.
• Never use harsh, scouring or abrasive cleaning agents or the like to clean the radio. Doing so may scratch the surfaces.

Charging the battery

1. Open the rubber tab on the side.
2. Connect the supplied USB connection cable to the DC IN USB port of the radio and to the USB socket of a computer (PC, tablet, laptop) or a USB charger.

As soon as the battery charge icon on the display stops glowing red, the battery is charged. The charging time during initial operation is approx. 4-5 hours.

Pay attention to the following:

• The battery should be recharged when the battery charge icon flashes on the display (battery voltage < 3.3V ).
• You can already use the shower radio while charging. However, then the charging time is extended. The radio must not be used while charging in the wet area (shower, bath, etc.).
• The battery should be charged at least once a month, even when not in use.
• The longest capacity is ensured at room temperature.
  The operating time is reduced at low temperatures.

Setting the time

1. Press and hold down the button for a few seconds to turn on the device.
2. Press and hold down ⑥ until the hour digit flashes on the display.
   3.Use or to set the current hour.

Wall mounting

You can use the loop to hang up the radio or the suction cup to attach it to a tiled wall.

Listening to the radio

1. Press and hold down the button for a few seconds to turn on the device.
2. Press FM to switch to radio mode (display shows "FM").
3. Press and hold down for a few seconds to start automatic station search.

If a sufficiently strong station is found, it will be played back briefly and its memory space will be displayed, for example, "CH01". After that, the search will be resumed automatically until the entire frequency range has been covered.

Then, the first station found and stored will be played back.

Press to cancel station search.

1. Briefly press the 14 or 15 button to switch to the previous or next stored radio station.
2. Press and hold down the (volume down) or (volume up) button to set the desired volume. Note the display.
3. Press and hold down the button for a few seconds to turn off the device. Or briefly press FM/0 to switch to Bluetooth mode.

To save energy, the display will turn off after approx. 60 seconds (if no button is pressed). To reactivate the display, briefly press any button.

Improving radio reception

• Try receiving the radio station on a different frequency by starting a new search.
• Relocate the device, if necessary.

Connecting to Bluetooth device (Pairing)

• If you are prompted for a password: Enter "0000".
• Always follow the operating instructions of your mobile device.
• The Bluetooth transmission range is approx. 10 metres.

Establishing connection

1. Press and hold down the button for a few seconds to turn on the device. Two beeps will sound and the Bluetooth icon will flash on the display.
2. Enable the Bluetooth function on your mobile device and start the search.
3. Select "BR1703-x" from the list and connect the devices.

As soon as the devices are connected, two short beeps will sound and the Bluetooth icon will light up permanently on the display.

Pay attention to the following:

• If you turn the shower radio off and then on again, it will reconnect automatically to the Bluetooth device when the latter is nearby and the Bluetooth function is enabled. Once the Bluetooth device has been found, you will hear two short beeps.

• If you have connected a device in parallel via the AUX socket, it will be played back as a priority and the Bluetooth playback will be interrupted automatically. If you remove the plug from the AUX socket again, the playback via Bluetooth will continue automatically shortly thereafter.

Terminating the connection

Only one device can be connected to the radio at a time. If you wish to connect another device to the radio, you must first terminate the existing connection.

• To do this, use the mobile device to terminate the existing Bluetooth connection or press and hold down the FM/0 button for approx. 2 seconds until a short melody sounds and the Bluetooth icon flashes on the display.

The connection will thus be terminated and the shower radio can be connected to another (or the same) mobile device.

Turning the shower radio on and off

• To turn the device on and later off again, press and hold the button for a few seconds.

Audiplayback via Bluetooth

1. Turn on the radio.
2. Start audio playback on the mobile device.

Overview of the radio buttons:

• Press briefly - next track
• Press and hold down - increase volume

• Press once briefly - start track from the beginning
• Press twice briefly - previous track
• Press and hold down - decrease volume

• Briefly press - stop playback
• Briefly press again - resume playback

You can also enable these functions via your mobile device.

Making a call

The shower radio is equipped with a built-in microphone (between the loop and connection sockets) and can therefore also be used as a hands-free set. For a Bluetooth connection, the current audio playback will be interrupted.

• To accept the incoming call, press the button.

The call will be transmitted via the speaker and you can speak freely.

To end the call, press again.

You can...

• ... accept and end the call as usual via your smartphone.
• ... select on your smartphone whether the call should be transmitted directly to the radio or whether private calls should better be made on the smartphone. For details, refer to the operating instructions of your smartphone.

After the call via the radio, the audio playback can resume automatically depending on your smartphone.

• Decline a call - press and hold down for a few seconds during an incoming call.
• Redial - press twice to redial the last dialled phone number.

Audio playback via AUX

Mobile audio devices without the Bluetooth function can be connected directly to the radio using the supplied audio cable.

1. Turn off the shower radio, if necessary.
2. Use the audio cable to connect the audio device to the 3.5mm AUX jack socket of the radio.
3. Use the button to turn on the radio.
4. Start playback on the audio device.
5. Set the desired volume on the radio and external audio device.

Pay attention to the following:

• Use the button to mute the radio.
• If you connect the audio cable to the radio during audio playback via Bluetooth, it will switch automatically to the AUX input.
• The track control is carried out exclusively via the external audio device.

Alarm

Setting the alarm time

• To set the alarm time, the device must not be in radio mode.

• If there is more than approx. 8 seconds between two pushes of a button, the setting process automatically ends and you will have to repeat it.

• Press and hold the button until ON is shown on the display

• Briefly press again.

The alarm time hour digit will flash on the display.

Waking up

At the set time, you will wake up to a set melody, even if the device was turned off. In addition, the time will be displayed.

• Press any button to interrupt the alarm function. After 24 hours, you will wake up again at the set time.

If you press no button, the alarm signal will mute automatically after approx. 3 minutes.

Disabling the alarm function

1. Press and hold the button until ON is shown on the display
2. Briefly press

The display will show OFF and the alarm function will be disabled.

Likewise, you can turn the alarm function on again.

RESET function

If the device stops responding to pushes of buttons:

• Press a thin object such as an unfolded paper clip into the reset opening between the two connection sockets.

After that, the shower radio will resume work as usual.

Cleaning

• Clean the radio with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent.
  Make sure that no moisture penetrates the device. Do not immerse the radio in water or other liquids.

Fault/Remedy

Fault Possible cause
No function. • Charge the radio battery, if necessary. • If the battery is fully charged: Perform a RESET.
No audio playback.	• Check whether playback has been interrupted (press ⌽). • Is volume on the playback device and/or speaker set too low? • Is the plug inserted into the AUX connection socket?
Fault Possible cause
No Bluetooth connection.	• Is your mobile device Bluetooth enabled? Please follow its operating instructions. • Is the Bluetooth function disabled? • Check that the speaker actually appears in the Bluetooth list of the mobile device. When pairing, place both devices close to each other and remove other devices with radio transmission from your nearest environment.

Dear Customer, Waagen-Schmitt GmbH warrants for 2 years from the purchase date the cost-free rectification of defects in material and workmanship through repair or exchange.

Disposal

Disposing of the packaging

Dispose of the packaging with similar materials. Dispose of cardboard with waste paper and of films with recyclable materials.

Disposing of the device

Dispose of the product in accordance with the regulations that apply in your country.

Devices must not be disposed of in normal household waste

At the end of its life, the product must be disposed of in an appropriate way. In this way, valuable materials contained in the device will be recycled and the burden on the environment avoided. Bring the old device to a collection point for electronic waste or to a recycling depot. For more information, contact your local waste disposal firm or your local administrative body.

Standard and rechargeable batteries should not be disposed of along with household waste

All standard and rechargeable batteries must be brought to a local or district collection point or to the retailer. Such standard and rechargeable batteries can thus be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

Attention!

This device contains a battery that is permanently installed for safety reasons and cannot be removed without destroying the housing. Improper dismantling entails a safety risk. Therefore, you should return the device unopened to the collection point, and the device and the battery should be disposed of properly. Information on collection points receiving used equipment free of charge can be obtained from your local authority or municipal administration.
