Before first using them, familiarise yourself with the way the headphones work and read these operating instructions through carefully. Be careful to follow the safety instructions and only use the headphones as described in the operating instructions and for the applications given. Keep these operating instructions in a safe place. These headphones are a consumer electronics device. They have been designed to play music at an appropriate volume. The headphones can also be used as a phone headset. The battery built into the charging and storage box allows you to recharge your headphones battery while out and about (powerbank function). The headphones are suitable only for private use, not for industrial or commercial purposes. The headphones may also not be used in tropical climates. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage or problems caused by unauthorised modifications to the headphones or the storage box. Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Observe the regulations and laws in the respective country of use. Only use the storage box for charging your headphones, not for other devices.

Keep these operating instructions in a safe place for future reference. If you sell the headphones or pass them on, it is essential that you also hand over this manual, as it is part of the product. WARNING! Cardiac patients The ear adjuster pieces have magnets to hold them together in transit. Persons with a pacemaker or defibrillator implant must be careful not to carry the magnets near to the left side of their chest. This could case the pacemaker or defibrillator implant to malfunction. CAUTION! Transport on aeroplanes Because of its powerbank feature, it is possible that you may not be able to check the charging and storage box into the hold and you will have to take it in your hand luggage. Ask the staff at the airport or check with your airline whether there are any restrictions on powerbanks in hold luggage. CAUTION! Always make sure that contact with water spray and drops and aggressive fluids is avoided and the headphones are never operated near water. Never submerge the headphones or the charging and storage box. Do not place any vessels containing liquids, e.g. drinks or vases, on or next to the headphones or the charging and storage box. Do not place any fire sources (e.g. burning candles) on or near the headphones or the charging and storage box. Make sure there is no penetration by foreign bodies. The headphones and/or charging and storage box are not exposed to any extreme temperature fluctuations as this can cause moisture throughSilverCrest SBKL 5.0 A1

condensation and cause short-circuits. However, if the headphones or the charging and storage box are exposed to strong temperature fluctuations, wait (about 2 hours) before getting started until the headphones or the charging and storage box have reached ambient temperature.

WARNING! Always make sure that the headphones or charging and storage box are not exposed to any direct heat sources (e.g. heaters). the headphones are not subjected to excessive shocks and vibrations. if using an optional USB power adapter, comply with the relevant operating instructions. the device is not covered. WARNING! Always make sure that no objects are placed on a cable which is connected and the cables are never laid around sharp objects to avoid damaging the cables. the headphones are not exposed to strong artificial light. the headphones are never operated in the immediate vicinity of magnetic fields (e.g. loudspeakers). WARNING! Repair Repairs are required if these headphones have been damaged in any way, for example if the device housing is damaged, if liquids or objects have penetrated the device or if the product has been exposed to rain or moisture. Repairs are also necessary if the device is not working properly or has been dropped. This will void your warranty. Operating environment The headphones are not designed for use in environments with high temperatures or humidity (e.g. bathrooms), and must be kept free of dust. Operating temperature and operating humidity: +5 to 35°C, max. 85% relative humidity. Please note that when using the product in a car, especially behind the windscreen, the temperature can reach well above 35°C.

Remove the charging and storage box from the packaging, open the zip and remove all packaging material from all accessories. Dispose of the packaging material responsibly.

8.1 Charging the battery in the charging and storage box

(powerbank) Before first use or when the built-in battery in the charging and storage box is empty, charge it up as follows:

1. Connect the USB charging cable (B) to the charging port (6) and to a

suitable USB power adapter (not supplied). WARNING! As the charging and storage box requires a high level of charging current, it cannot be charged up from a PC or laptop. This could damage the PC or laptop. You need to use an optional USB power adapter with an output current of at least 1 A. WARNING! Do not cover the charging and storage box during the charging process, as this could cause it to overheat.SilverCrest SBKL 5.0 A1 English - 39 WARNING! When using an external power adapter, it must be connected to an easily accessible mains socket so that it can be disconnected from the mains power quickly in case of an emergency. 2. After charging, disconnect the USB charging cable (B) and put it back

in the charging and storage box. If you are not using the charging and storage box for an extended period, it is recommended that you recharge the battery from time to time. This preserves the performance of the battery.SilverCrest SBKL 5.0 A1

8.1.1 Querying the battery charge level

If you have not charged the battery in the charging and storage box as described above and you want to know how much charge is in the battery, the procedure is as follows:

1. Press the button for the battery charge level display (8) to query the

8.2 Charging the headphones battery

Before using for the first time or if the built-in battery on the headphones is empty (a flashing LED (5) and a beep indicate that the battery is low), charge it up as follows:

1. Carefully remove the cover from the charging port (1) and twist it to

charging connection (9) in the charging and storage box. WARNING! Do not cover the headphones during the charging process, as this could cause them to overheat. You can also connect the headphones to a free USB port on your computer (which must be powered on) or a USB power adapter (not supplied) to charge them up.SilverCrest SBKL 5.0 A1 English - 41 When they are charging, you can either leave the headphones in the charging and storage box or leave them loose:

3. The LED indicator (5) lights orange while the battery is charging. When

the battery is fully charged, the LED indicator (5) goes out.

4. After charging, disconnect the USB charging cable (B), store it in the

charging and storage box and replace the cover on the charging port (1). If the device (e.g. smartphone) supports the function, the battery charge level is shown on the screen. Your headphones have a fast-charge function. If you charge them for just 5 minutes, you can listen to up to 60 minutes of music. If you are not using the headphones for an extended period, it is recommended that you recharge the battery from time to time. This preserves the performance of the battery.SilverCrest SBKL 5.0 A1

9.1 Powering the headphones on/off

How to switch the headphones on:

1. Press and hold the multi-function button (3) for at least 2 seconds. The

headphones will emit a beep. The LED indicator (5) lights up in blue. If this is the first time you are powering the headphones on and they have not previously been paired with any device, they automatically start in pairing mode. In pairing mode, the LED (5) flashes quickly in blue. Please refer the next chapter for pairing your device. How to switch the headphones off:

1. Press and hold the multi-function button (3) for about 5 seconds. The

headphones will emit a beep. The LED indicator (5) lights up for one second in blue and then goes out.

9.2 Pairing the headphones

In order to make telephone calls or listen to music on your smartphone (or another Bluetooth-compatible device) using the headphones, you first need to pair the headphones to your smartphone. You only need to pair the devices once. If you switch the headphones another time and your smartphone is in range, they automatically connect to the smartphone. Proceed as follows to pair the headphones with your device:

1. With the headphones switched on, press and hold the Bluetooth®

button (4) for at least 2 seconds until the LED indicator (5) starts flashing quickly in blue. The headphones are now in pairing mode. In pairing mode, you can connect a compatible Bluetooth® device to the headphones.SilverCrest SBKL 5.0 A1 English - 43

2. Pair your smartphone or audio or media player to the headphones via

Bluetooth®. Follow the operating instructions for your smartphone or media player (the Bluetooth® function must always be activated on the smartphone or media player). From the list of devices found, select the device “SBKL 5.0 A1” on your smartphone or media player and establish the connection. A beep sounds to indicate pairing has been successful. The LED indicator (5) flashes briefly every three seconds. If you switch your headphones off or take them out of range, the headphones switch themselves off after a few minutes and the LED indicator (5) goes out. As soon as the previously paired device comes back into the range of the headphones, the connection is established automatically. You may need to confirm the connection on your smartphone or media player. If you wish to pair another device (smartphone or media player) to the headphones, proceed as described under “Permanently unpairing a device” below.

9.2.1 Permanently unpairing a device

If necessary, you can permanently unpair you smartphone or media player. This prevents a connection being established when both devices are switched on an in range. At the same time, you can establish a new pairing with a new device.

1. Switch your headphones and the smartphone or media player on. After

a few seconds, a connection should be established between the devices.

2. Press and hold the Bluetooth® button (4) for at least 2 seconds until the

deleted and your headphones revert to pairing mode. You can then connect a different compatible Bluetooth® device to the headphones. See step 2 in the previous section.

9.3 Using the headphones

Make sure you fit the headphones correctly based on the labels on the earpieces: R = right, L - left. The control panel with the buttons is on the right-hand side of the headphones.

1. Place the neck band around your neck and then carefully place one of

the earpieces into your ear. To make insertion easier, you can straighten your ear slightly by pulling the outer ear gently back and up. Proceed with the second earpiece in the same way. The medium-sized ear pads are fitted as standard. If the earpiece does not sit correctly or does not fit, replace the ear pads with the large (C) or small (D) ones. The section below describes how to do this.

9.4 Replacing the ear pads

The medium-sized ear pads are fitted as standard. If the ear pads do not fit correctly, you can replace them. Proceed as follows:

1. Carefully pull the ear pad off the ear

adjuster piece using your fingers.

2. Carefully remove the ear adjuster piece

3. Select the ear pad and ear adjuster

pieces you want, either large (C, D) or small (E, F).

4. Push the ear adjuster piece (C or F) onto

the earphone until it clicks into place.SilverCrest SBKL 5.0 A1 English - 45

5. Push the ear pad (D or E) onto the ear adjuster piece until it clicks into place.

6. Repeat the above steps for the other earphone.

Using headphones at extremely high volumes can cause permanent damage to the hearing. Always adjust the volume of music playback down before starting playback, then adjust it to a comfortable level. The functions described below depend on the functionality of the smartphone or media player used. Your device may not support all functions. While the headphones are paired to a smartphone or music player, you can listen to the music with the headphones. Using headphones at extremely high volumes can cause permanent damage to the hearing. When making phone calls, always set the volume to a comfortable level. If the headphones are paired to a smartphone, you can make phone calls with the headphones. First, charge the battery in the charging and storage box or charge the headphones from a PC or external charger (not supplied). Check the cable connection from the charging and storage box to the headphones. No audio over Bluetooth® connection Power the headphones on. Try to pair the headphones with your device again. No Bluetooth

connection is established Pair the headphones to your smartphone or media player. Please check whether the Bluetooth® function is switched on on your device. The distance between the headphones and your smartphone or media player is too great. Move them closer to one another. Not all of the functions described are working The functions described depend on the functionality of the smartphone or media player used. All functions may not work as expected, depending on the operating system or software version of your smartphone or media player.

13. When not using the product

If you are not using the headphones for an extended period, it is recommended that you recharge the battery in the charging and storage box from time to time. This preserves the performance of the battery. It isSilverCrest SBKL 5.0 A1

best to keep the headphones and the USB cable in the charging and storage box and the box itself in a clean, dry and cool place.

Only use a clean, dry cloth for cleaning the headphones and the charging and storage box. Never use any corrosive liquids. When very dirty, use a slightly dampened cloth with a soft cleaner. To clean the ear pads, remove them. Clean the ear pads under running water. Dry the ear pads properly. Only put the ear pads back when they are completely dry. See also the chapter “Replacing the ear pads”.

15. Environmental regulations and disposal

information The product bears the symbol of a rubbish bin crossed out. This means it is subject to European Directive 2012/19/EU. All electrical and electronic devices must be disposed of separately from household waste at official disposal centres. For further information, contact your local government, disposal bodies or the shop where you bought the device. The built-in batteries cannot be removed for disposal. Dispose of all packaging in an environmentally friendly manner. Cardboard packaging can be taken to paper recycling centres or public collection points for recycling. Warranty of TARGA GmbH This device is sold with three years warranty from the date of purchase. Please keep the original receipt in a safe place as proof of purchase. Before using your product for the first time, please read the enclosed documentation. Should any problems arise which cannot be solved in this way, please call our hotline. Please have the article number and, if available, the serial number to hand for all enquiries. If it is not possible to solve the problem on the phone, our hotline support staff will initiate further servicing procedures depending on the fault. Within the warranty period the product will be repaired or replaced free of charge as we deem appropriate. No new warranty period commences if the product is repaired or replaced.
