How to install the AT49 R1 antenna?

Place the antenna near a window, facing the TV transmitter, away from metal objects. Raise the hinged part to vertical position. Connect the coaxial cable to the antenna input of the TV or decoder (turned off). Connect the power adapter to the jack on the back of the antenna, then to a mains socket. Turn the gain wheel until you hear a click (power on) and adjust the gain for best reception. The blue light indicates the antenna is powered.

What to do if I receive no signal?

Check that the antenna is on (blue light). Gently point the antenna in different directions. Adjust the gain with the wheel (sometimes too high gain degrades quality). Perform a channel search on your TV or decoder. If possible, place the antenna closer to a window or higher up.

Can I power the antenna without the mains adapter?

Yes, if your digital terrestrial decoder has an antenna power output (+5V). Connect the coaxial cable directly to the decoder and enable the 'antenna power' or '+5V' option in the decoder settings. The blue light turns on when the decoder is on.

How to adjust the amplification gain?

Turn the wheel on the edge of the base. A click indicates power on. Continue turning to increase the gain (MAX) or decrease it (MIN). Note that the maximum position does not always give the best picture; try reducing the gain if the picture is distorted.

Is the antenna compatible with HD DTT and DAB+?

Yes, the antenna receives HD Digital Terrestrial Television signals (DVB-T and DVB-T2 HEVC) as well as DAB and DAB+ digital radio signals on VHF-III and UHF bands.

What does the blue light mean?

The blue light on indicates the antenna is powered and supplied correctly. If it does not light up, check the power adapter connection or, if using decoder power, ensure the +5V option is enabled.

How to clean the antenna?

SAFETY WARNINGS

• DANGER: risk of electric shock! Hazardous voltages are present inside the product (power unit). Only use the product indoors, do not use outdoors.
• DANGER: should any problems be encountered with the power unit, immediately disconnect it from the electric socket.

Product description

The Meliconi AT 49 R1 amplified indoor aerial is able to receive and amplify the signals of DVB-T, DVB-T2 digital terrestrial TV and DAB+ radio signals on the VHF-III and UHF bands. It also has a low-noise amplifier and special filters to eliminate interference from GSM, 4G and 5G signals.

Installation

(for the connections, please refer to the diagram)

• Gently raise the adjustable part of the aerial to a vertical position, as shown in the image on the product package.
• Position the aerial in a favourable location for signal reception, for example, close to a window and or in the direction of the television station, far from metal objects, electrical equipment and reinforced concrete walls that could attenuate the signal, limiting its operation.
• Connect the Meliconi aerial cable to the antenna input socket located on the television set (or on the digital terrestrial decoder).
• Insert the power unit's cable connector in the socket at the rear of the base.
• Turn the ON/Amplification dial [MAX_MIN/OFF], located on the edge of the base, adjusting it to the maximum amplification.
• Check that the front of the base is lit (blue light), indicating the correct power supply to the aerial.
• Turn on the device (TV / DECODER) and select the desired channel.

Alternative connections:

Power supply from decoder

- If the aerial is connected to a compatible digital terrestrial Decoder, it is possible to draw power for the aerial from the decoder, using only the aerial cable, without using the power unit (refer to the decoder's User Manual to enable the 5 Volt/Antenna output) Check that the blue light turns on when the Decoder is turned on. In this case, when turning off the Decoder, the aerial (and the LED) automatically turn off.

Improving reception

If the quality of the image is unsatisfactory or no signal is received, try the following:

• Check that the aerial is turned on: blue light on
• Gently move the aerial in different directions until optimal reception has been obtained.
• Adjust the gain by adjusting the amplification control, the [MAX-MIN/OFF] dial; the maximum gain value does not always correspond to better quality of the image. Try reducing it a little.
• Look at the aerials on the roofs of nearby buildings and try to point the aerial in the same direction.
• If possible, it is recommended to carry out the tuning of the channels on the device (TV / DECODER) by connecting it temporarily to a different, valid signal source (for example, a condominium aerial).

"alternative" solution for the reception of television channels; nevertheless, due to the intensity of the signals that reach the aerial inside the room, it is possible to obtain more or less satisfactory results depending on the conditions of use. The best results are obtained when the aerial is positioned close to the window, in the direction of the broadcasting station, without obstacles or buildings in between.
