Safety recommendations
1. Only use the generator outdoors; the exhaust gases contain toxic carbon monoxide! If
indoor use is unavoidable, make sure that you have plenty of space with good ventilation and that any exhaust gases are emitted outdoors.
2. This generator incorporates a petrol engine; use Euro 95 or Euro 98 petrol. Always
stop the engine before filling up with fuel and ensure naked flames are not in the vicinity (even cigarettes) during this process. Avoid spillages and remove all spilt petrol with a clean cloth before starting the generator.
3. Do not smoke when topping up the fuel!
4. Try to avoid spillages when topping up the fuel! Spilt fuel must be cleaned up
immediately with a clean cloth.
5. This generator is not waterproof. To prevent short-circuits or electric shocks, do not
use in wet conditions (rain/snow/mist).
6. Do not touch the generator with wet hands and prevent the device getting wet.22
7. Keep the generator at least one meter from explosive and flammable substances and
8. The generator must be earthed at all times; to this end, attach a conductive wire
between the earthing point on the generator and an approved earthing pin.
9. Never connect the generator to the mains network or to another generator.
10. Never touch the outlet during or shortly after the generator has been in use. It will get
11. Do not connect any devices before the generator has been switched on.
12. Ensure that anyone who uses the generator knows how it works and how to stop it
13. During use wear protective shoes and clothing.
14. Ensure that there is careful supervision when this device is used in the presence of
children, incapable individuals or pets. The device is not suitable for use by persons (including children) with a physical, sensual or mental limitation or a lack of experience and knowledge, irrespective of whether they are being supervised or have been issued with instructions in relation to the use of the device by a person who is responsible for their safety. Always ensure that children cannot play with the device.
15. Failing to adhere to the safety instructions could lead to serious damage or injury. The
manufacturer, importer and supplier will not accept any liability in this context. Description
Inspections prior to use Oil level Make sure that the generator is on a sturdy surface and placed horizontally before you check the oil. The generator must be unplugged and have cooled down before you check. Undo the dipstick cap and take it out of the opening. Clean the dipstick with a damp cloth. Insert the dipstick back in the opening without doing it up. If the oil level is under the lowest mark on the dipstick, you must fill the oil until it reaches the upper mark. Use 15-W40 oil. Put the dipstick back and do up the cap. Fuel level Open the fuel tank cap. Check the fuel level and fill up if necessary. Fill up to the top of the filter that is located in the opening, at most. Close the tank cap again carefully. Air filter Undo the clamps and remove the air filter lid. Take the filter out of the holder. Wash the filter in a substance such as petrol or a universal cleaning product. Wring it out well. Then sprinkle a little engine oil on the filter and wring out. Gently tap the filter a few times on a bench or similar to distribute the oil. Replace the filter and put everything back in its original place. Starting and stopping the generator24 Starting Take all plugs out of the sockets and switch the thermal safeguard OFF. Switch the fuel tap to the ON position Depress the choke handle to the 'choke' setting. Press the ON/OFF switch to ON. Pull the starter rope out until you feel resistance. Then pull the cord forcefully all the way out. Repeat this process until the engine starts. ! If there is no oil in the reservoir the generator will not start ! Once the engine is warm, you can set the choke to 'run'. Tips and warnings about use
1. After starting the engine, run without drawing any power for around 3 minutes. If the
generator is being used to power more than one device, connect them one by one, the most demanding first. Most devices require more power when starting than during operation (peak flow); be careful that you do not exceed the maximum output of the socket!
2. Check to ensure that all devices you wish to connect are in good condition before
connecting to the generator. If a device begins to work abnormally (works slowly or stops suddenly), switch the start/stop switch on the device to OFF immediately. Disconnect the device and check it is working correctly.
3. In the event of overloading, the thermal safeguard will switch the generator off. If this
happens, disconnect all of the devices, wait a few minutes and then resume operation with a lower power demand. If the voltmeter indicates a voltage that is too high/low, switch the generator off and try to find the cause. The generator can work if the voltmeter indicates voltage between 210 and 250V (50Hz).
4. The direct current socket (DC 12V) can only be used for charging 12V batteries. Do not
change the cables around as this can cause serious damage to the generator and/or battery! Do not draw 12V-DC and 230V-AC simultaneously.
5. Any connection from the generator to a household mains network must be carried out
by a qualified electrician. Incorrect connection could damage the generator or device or cause a fire.
Warning: never draw mains power and generator power at the same time for a domestic
network! Stopping Switch off the thermal safeguard. Press the start/stop switch on the generator to OFF. Connect the fuel tap. NB: turn off the stop switch for an emergency stop.25 Regular checks and maintenance Regular checks and maintenance are very important in order to keep the engine running reliably and in good condition. The generator set comprises a petrol engine, generator, control panel and frame. Always switch the engine off when doing any maintenance. If the engine is running, ensure it is located in a well ventilated area. The exhaust gases contain toxic carbon monoxide gas. After use, the engine must be cleaned with a clean cloth to prevent rust formation and deposits.
Before each use After 1st month and every 20 hours Every 50 hours or 3 months Every 100 hours or 6 months Every 300 hours or every year Check the oil level
Fuel tank R when necessary C = check V = replace R = clean B = adjust Change the oil Undo the dipstick and remove. Undo the drainage plug and let the oil run out of the crank case. Make sure that all of the oil has drained out. Do up the drainage plug. Pour new oil into the device up to the top mark; use SAE 15-W40 oil for a 4-stroke petrol engine. Replace dipstick and do up securely. Clean air filter Undo the clamps and remove the air filter lid. Clean spark plug Remove the spark plug cap.26 Undo the spark plug using a plug spanner and remove the carbon deposits from the plug. Measure the space between the electrodes: they should be 0.7 to 0.8 mm. Secure the spark plug and replace the cap. Maintaining fuel filter Turn the fuel tap to OFF (closed) and take the fuel filter out of the tank opening. Thoroughly clean the filter. Secure a new rubber washer to the filter and replace carefully back into the opening. Storage If the generator is to be stored for a long period, you must take the following measures:
1. Undo the fuel drainage cap and let the fuel run out of the carburettor.
2. Undo the drainage plug and let the oil run out of the crank case.
3. Replace the oil drainage plug.
4. Fill the generator with oil to the upper mark on the dipstick.
5. Pull the starter rope out until you feel resistance.
Problems and solutions The engine fails to start Too little fuel: check and fill if necessary. The start/stop switch is not set to ON: switch to on. Too little oil: check and fill if necessary. The speed and/or power with which you pull the cord is insufficient: pull the cord forcefully. The spark plug is contaminated with carbon: check and clean. The generator is not supplying power The start/stop switch is not set properly: set it to ON. The socket is not connected properly: check. If you discover any irregularities, consult a supplier or qualified electrician to check/repair the device. The generator will not achieve the correct revolutions because it is heavily loaded: disconnect some of the devices and try again. Disposal
