USER MANUAL Transformer iPlus JANE

We are delighted that you have chosen a quality JANÉ-CONCORD product. You are sure to be convinced by this product‘s versatility and safety. We hope you enjoy using your new TRANSFORMER. ATTENTION!

  • Please read the instructions for use thoroughly before using the JANÉ-CONCORD TRANSFORMER and keep them carefully for later reference. If you do not follow the instructions listed in this manual the child’s safety may be at risk! Please also note the instructions in the car’s operating manual for transporting children in a car. _ THANK YOU! _INFORMATION IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 22 18/6/21 17:2823
  • Do not leave your child unattended.
  • Children sometimes have items in their jacket or trouser pockets (e.g. toy) or wear hard items that are attached to their clothes (e.g. belt buckle). Make sure that these items do not get between the child and the safety belt – they could cause unnecessary injuries in the event of an accident. These hazards also apply to adults!
  • Naturally children can often be very lively. You should therefore explain to children how important it is to always be safely fastened in. Children must understand that they should never change the way the belts are positioned, and never open the buckle.
  • Only if safety equipment is correctly installed and used can your child enjoy maximum safety.
  • Not all child restraint system are exactly the same, therefore we advise you to test your TRANSFORMER in the vehicle in which it is going to be installed.
  • Any alteration or addition made to the device without explicit authorisation from JANÉ-CONCORDmay seriously affect the safety of the restraint system.
  • Read these instructions carefully before use and keep them for future reference. The child’s safety may be affected if you do not follow these instructions. For the child to travel safely in the car you also need to check the relevant points of the vehicle instruction manual.
  • This safety device must not be used without its cover, and the cover must not be IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 23 18/6/21 17:2824

replaced with one that is not the original, as it is an integral part of the system’s safety features.

  • Never add a mattress, pillow or extra padding to make the child more comfortable as this would alter the safety features of the system.
  • The system straps must be fitted tautly and without twists and must be protected against damage.
  • Protect those parts of the TRANSFORMER that are not covered in fabric from direct sunlight to avoid your child being burned.
  • It is very important not to use second hand products, because JANÉ-CONCORD can only guarantee complete safety for articles used by the original buyer.
  • These instructions must be followed carefully for the correct use of the restraint system; failure to do so may put the child’s safety at risk.
  • The child restraint system must not be damaged or trapped by moving parts in the car or by doors.
  • Never modify the TRANSFORMER in any way – this will endanger your child’s safety.
  • After an accident the TRANSFORMER must be replaced or returned to the manufacturer for testing, along with a report of the accident.
  • You should also tell your passenger how to remove the child in the event of an accident or danger.
  • Do not leave your child in the child car seat unsupervised whether strapped in or not. IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 24 18/6/21 17:2825
  • Secure any luggage or other objects to reduce the risk of injuries in the event of an accident.
  • The instruction manual should always be kept with the safety seat.
  • The use of accessories and replacement parts is not permissible and shall lead, in the event of contravention, to the expiry of all claims under the warranty and of all liability claims. Only special JANÉ-CONCORD original accessories are excluded.
  • Suitable for cars with three-point (lap and diagonal) seat belts tested in accordance with ECE Regulation 16 or a comparable standard.
  • WARNING: Make sure you are aware of the road traffic legislation of the country in which you are driving. The use of your child restraint system may be restricted. The buckle of the vehicle safety belt must not come above the edge of the lap belt guide. If in doubt or if you are still uncertain, please contact JANÉ-CONCORD. The belts may only be routed via the points of contact and the positions on the seat stated in the user instructions. Belts must not be routed in any other way. If the car seat used has a front airbag, we recommend positioning the car seat as far back as possible. For cars with front and side airbags, the instructions in the car’s operating manual must also be observed. The car’s shoulder/diagonal belt must pass forwards from the vehicle bracket to the shoulder belt guide (07). Adjust the car seat position if necessary. IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 25 18/6/21 17:2826

You have decided to purchase our TRANSFORMER seat for the safety of your child. This product is manufactured under strict quality controls. It can only effectuate its maximum safety properties if it is used properly. The upholstery is an important part and it affects the seat as a whole, therefore the car seat must only be used with the original cover! You should therefore ensure that you follow the instructions for fitting and use carefully. The seat may be used on any seat in your car that is fitted with a three-point seat belt. Statistics suggest that the place behind the passenger seat is the safest in the car. IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 26 18/6/21 17:2827

Place the TRANSFORMER on the car seat or bench seat, facing in the direction of travel. The TRANSFORMER should lie flush with the seat. In cars with standard headrests, these may be adjusted or removed to make it easier to install the child car seat. 1.a Please note that the car headrests must be replaced and re-positioned correctly when an adult is travelling in the car. 1.b The TRANSFORMER must always be secured using the safety belt, also without a child. When driving, or in the event of an accident, the occupants of the vehicle may be injured. IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 27 18/6/21 17:2828

In cars with standard headrests, these may be adjusted or removed to make it easier to install the child car seat. Please note that the car headrests must be replaced and re-positioned correctly when an adult is travelling in the car. 1.b Pull the TWINFIX (09) button outwards and push the TRANSFORMER back until it rests firmly against the backrest of the vehicle seat. Release the TWINFIX button (09) when the seat is in the required position. 1.a Pull the TWINFIX button (09) forwards until the TWINFIX adapters (10) on the back of the child seat are fully extended. 2.a Position the TRANSFORMER facing forwards on the vehicle seat or bench fitted with ISOFIX points. 2.b Push the child car seat back and onto the ISOFIX points until the locking mechanisms on both TWINFIX adapters (10) have clicked audibly into place and the safety indicators on both adapters are green! 2.c IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 28 18/6/21 17:2829

  • TWINFIX is an additional attachment system to stabilize the TRANSFORMER and does not replace the security using the safety belt.
  • Children and the seat without a child must always be secured using the vehicles own 3-point safety belt.

_ REMOVING THE TRANSFORMER WITH TWINFIX

To remove the TRANSFORMER, pull the TWINFIX button (09) forwards and move the seat fully forwards. Next, slide the locking buttons on the outer sides of the TWINFIX adapters (10) forwards until the safety indicators are red. Now pull the seat forwards and away from the ISOFIX points. 3.a Lay the seat with the back on a flat surface. Pull the TWINFIX button (09) and then press down on the seat section of the child seat until the TWINFIX adapters (10) are fully retracted! To avoid damaging the outside of the seat, check that the surface you place it on is clean, smooth and as soft as possible! 3.b IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 29 18/6/21 17:2830

The TRANSFORMER with JANÉ-CONCORD TWINFIX system has been authorised for use as a booster seat with backrest for specific vehicles and is ideal for installation on seats of certain vehicles. Please refer to the additional “CAR FITTING LIST” leaflet for an overview of cars and vehicle seats compatible with the JANÉ-CONCORD TWINFIX system at the time your child seat was manufactured. For a continuously updated version, please visit www.janeworld.com _ SECURING THE CHILD WITH THE THREE-POINT BELT Seat your child well back in the seating area. Pass the three-point belt across the front of the child to the seat belt lock, and fasten it in the same way as for an adult. (There must be an audible click.) 4.a Now position the belts. Pass the lap belt across both sides and the diagonal belt on the side of the seat belt lock through the lap belt guide (03). Finally, pass the diagonal belt through the provided shoulder belt guide (07). IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 30 18/6/21 17:2831

Make sure the belt passes inside the securing hook. 4.b Now press the size adjustment button (05) on the back of the backrest and keep it pressed whilst moving the head section (01) into the required position. The TRANSFORMER can be continuously adjusted to the right size and is locked into the current position when the adjustment button (05) is released. 4.c The shoulder belt guide (07) should be slightly above the top of the child‘s shoulder. At the same time, the shoulder belt should pass centrally between the child‘s neck and the outer edge of the shoulder. Pull the belt taut so that the lap belt and diagonal belt are well positioned and ensure that the belts are not twisted. The lap belt should be in the lowest possible position. If your vehicle is fitted with a seat belt height adjuster, adjust its height accordingly. When you wish to release the child from the seat, all you need to do is open the lock and pass the strap back across the child. To remove the shoulder belt from the guide, press the shoulder belt locking button (06) and pull the belt forwards and out. IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 31 18/6/21 17:2832

It is important to ensure that the belts are always correctly positioned each time the seat is used. If in doubt about any aspect of fitting, check with JANÉ-CONCORD. The seat belts must go through the belt guides marked in green on the safety seat. The belts must not be used in any other position.

_ ADJUSTING THE INCLINATION

The angle of the TRANSFORMER can be adjusted without setting the reclining angle to a specific position. Simply release the seat reclining button (04) and the seat will remain in the set position. 5.b To use the inclination adjuster on the TRANSFORMER, press the seat inclination button (04) on the front edge of the seat. 5.a Keeping the button pressed, move the seat into the required position. IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 32 18/6/21 17:2833

  • When they come into contact with moisture, especially during washing, the cover fabrics may fade slightly.
  • Do not use solvents! The cover can be removed for washing. To do so, move the head section (01) to its highest position. To remove, pull the cover away from its anchoring points. Begin by removing the head section (01) followed by the seat section and the shoulder shields (02). 6.a Before washing the cover, take the polystyrene out of the pockets of the shoulder area (02). Take the foam out of the headrest cover (01) before washing it. To replace, start with the cover for the seat section. First pull the cover over the cover panel on the backrest. Then pass it beneath the lap belt guides (03) and insert the fixings into the channel running along the edge of the seat. IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 33 18/6/21 17:2834

Attach the cover for the head section (01). 6.b Put the polystyrene part in the pocket indicated, inside the cover of the shoulder area (02). Now pull the covers over the protectors for the shoulder area (02). The covers and styrofoam parts must not be reversed! IM 2193.01 TRANSFORMER_iPLUS int.indd 34 18/6/21 17:2835
