What type of water can I pump with the Kärcher BP 2 Cistern?

This pump is designed for clear water, rainwater, and cistern water. It must not be used for wastewater, salt water, corrosive, flammable or explosive liquids such as oil or gasoline. The pumped water is not potable.

What is the maximum allowed water temperature?

The water temperature must not exceed 35 °C. Above that, the pump may be damaged.

Do I need to use a residual current device with this pump?

Yes, it is imperative to operate the pump on an outlet equipped with a residual current circuit breaker with a rated fault current of 30 mA maximum, as well as a functional grounding device.

Can I use the pump if people are in the pool or pond?

No, under no circumstances should the pump operate when people are in the water. There is a risk of electrocution.

How to correctly install the pump in a cistern?

Place the pump at the bottom of the cistern on a stable surface. Ensure the power cable is not damaged and the plug stays out of the water. Connect the discharge hose using a tight seal connection. Adjust the float switch according to the desired water level.

What to do if the pump does not start?

First check the power supply and the residual current device. Make sure the float is not stuck in the low position. If the problem persists, consult the manual for further diagnostics or contact Kärcher after-sales service.

How to maintain the pump regularly?

Before any maintenance, disconnect the pump. Clean the suction filter with clear water to avoid blockages. Check the condition of the power cable and plug. Never open the pump yourself; entrust repairs to an authorized professional.

Risk of electric shock.

Check the power cord with mains plug for damage before every use. If the power cord is damaged, please arrange immediately for the exchange by an authorized customer service or a skilled electrician.
All electrical sockets should be fixed in an area that is protected against floods.
Unsuitable electrical extension cables can be hazardous. Only use electrical extension cables outdoors which have been approved and labelled for this purpose and have an adequate cable cross-section.
The mains plug and the coupling of an extension cable must be watertight and must never lie in water. Moreover, the coupling may never lie on the ground. The use of cable reels that ensure that the sockets are at least 60~mm above the ground is recommended.

• Do not use the power cord to carry/ transport the machine.
  To separate the machine from the mains, pull the plug and not the power cord.
• Do not scrape the power cord across sharp edges and ensure that it does not get pressed.
  The voltage indicated on the type plate must correspond to the voltage of the electrical source.
  To avoid risks, all repairs and replacement of spare parts may only be carried out by the authorised customer service personnel.
  Operate pumps only on sockets that are equipped with a fault current protection switch with a nominal fault current of max. 30mA and a protectiveearth contact (earthing).
  Check the fault current protection switch and the protective earth contact (earthing) for proper function at regular intervals.
• Never operate the pumps while there are persons in the pool or garden pond.
• Do not touch feed fluids, the rope attached to the carrying handle as well as objects that are in contact with the feed fluid (e.g. pipelines extending into the water, railings, etc.).
  In Austria pumps to be used in swimming pools and garden ponds should be

equipped with a fixed connection line according to OVE B/ EN 60555 Part 1 to 3; power supply should be via a OVE-tested isolating transformer whereby the secondary nominal voltage should not exceed 230V .
The electrical connection of the system may only be performed by a qualified electrician. Please follow the respective national regulations!
