Intended use This consumer electronics device is used to play back audio files which can be transferred via Bluetooth
or 3.5 mm jack cable. You can use the headphones as a headset to take calls using the integrated microphone once the Bluetooth
connection has been made. The device is not intended for any other purpose, nor for use beyond the scope described. The device is not intended for use in commercial or industrial environments. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for damage caused by failure to observe these instructions, improper use or repairs, unauthorised modifica- tions or the use of unapproved replacement parts. Safety This section contains important safety instructions for using the headphones. These headphones comply with statutory safety regulations. Improper use may result in personal injury and property damage. Risk of hearing damage DANGER Risks from extremely high volume levels! Loud music can lead to hearing damage. ► Avoid listening to music at an extremely high volume, especially over long periods of time, when using these earphones. Risk of accidents DANGER Risk of impaired perception! ► Acoustic warning and indication signals and ambient noise can sound different while you are wearing these headphones. Make yourself aware of how these signals deviate in their sound so that you can recognise the signals in the appropriate situations. ► Do not use the headphones while driving a vehicle, riding a bicycle, operating machinery or in any other situation in which impaired per- ception of ambient noise could put you or other people in danger. Please also observe the statutory provisions and regulations of the country in which you are using the headphones. Notes on the radio interface Switch off the appliance if you are in an aeroplane, hospital, operating theatre or in the vicinity of a electronic medical system. The transmitted radio waves can affect the functionality of sensitive devices. Keep the device at least 20 cm away from a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator, as the proper functioning of the pacemaker or the implanted defibrillator could be affected by radio waves. The transmitted radio waves can cause noise interference in hearing aids. Do not use the unit in the presence of flammable gases or in a potentially explosive atmosphere (e.g. in a paint shop) while the radio com- ponent is activated as the transmitted radio waves can cause an explosion or ignite a fire. The range of the radio waves is dependent on the environment and the ambient conditions. Data transmissions via a wireless connection can be intercepted by unauthorised third parties.SKBA 2 A1
21 ■ Basic safety instructions To ensure safe operation of the headphones, follow the safety guidelines set out below: ■ Check the headphones for visible external damage before use. Do not operate damaged headphones or headphones that have been dropped. ■ Protect the cables against damage, for example caused by sharp edges, hot areas, clamping or crushing. ■ If the cables or connections are damaged, have them replaced by author- ised specialists or Customer Service. ■ This device may be used by children aged 8 years and above and by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are under supervision or have been told how to use the device safely and are aware of the potential risks. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks may not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.
DANGER! Do not allow children to play with the packaging material! Keep all packaging materials away from children. There is a risk of suffocation! ■ The headphones should only be repaired by authorised specialist personnel or the customer service department. Improper repairs may put the user at risk. It will also invalidate any warranty claims. ■ Repairs to the headphones during the warranty period may only be carried out by a customer service department authorised by the manu- facturer. Otherwise, no warranty claims will be held for any subsequent damages. ■ Do not make any unauthorised modifications or alterations to the head- phones. This device may not be opened by the user. ■ Ensure that the charger cable is not stretched tightly or kinked. ■ Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or high temperatures. Other- wise it may overheat and be irreparably damaged.
DANGER! Do not operate the device close to naked flames (e.g. candles) and do not place burning candles on or next to the device. This will help to prevent fires. ■ The device may heat up while it is charging. Place the headphones in a well-ventilated location during the charging process and do not cover it. ■ Protect the device from penetration by moisture and liquids. Never sub- merge the device in water or place objects filled with liquids (e.g. vases) next to the device.SKBA 2 A1 ■ 22
■ Switch the device off immediately and disconnect any connected cables from the device if you hear any unusual noises, smell fumes or notice any smoke. Have the device checked by a qualified specialist before using it again.
DANGER! The device has an integrated lithium-polymer battery. Improper use of lithium-polymer batteries can cause fires, explosions, leak- ages of hazardous materials or other hazards! NOTE ► Check the package for completeness and signs of visible damage. ► If any items are missing or damaged as a result of defective packag- ing or transportation, please contact the Service Hotline (see section "Service"). Disposal of the packaging The packaging protects the headphones from damage during transport. The packaging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease of disposal, and are therefore recyclable. Returning the packaging to the material cycle conserves raw materials and reduces the amount of waste that is generated. CAUTION ► Only charge the headphones in dry indoor spaces. ► Always use the supplied charger cable z to charge the head- phones! ► Always disconnect the charger cable z when charging is complete! ♦ Make sure that the headphones are switched off. To switch off the head- phones, press and hold the button 5 until you hear a rising series of beeps and the operating/charging LED 0goes out. ♦ Connect the USB plug on the charger cable z to a PC or to a USB power supply. ♦ Connect the micro USB plug of the charger cable zto the micro USB charging socket (POWER INPUT) 9of the headphones.SKBA 2 A1 ■ 24
NOTE ► The operating/charging LED 0 lights up orange during charging. When the battery is fully charged, the operating/charging LED switches off. ► Charging takes about 3.5 hours at a charging current of 500 mA. When the battery is fully charged, you can play back music for about 20 hours at a medium volume in headphone mode or for up to 5 hours in speaker mode. The playback time may vary depending on usage (volume). ► When the battery is empty, you will hear two beeps at an interval of two minutes, and the operating/charging LED 0 flashes three times or- ange every 15 seconds. The headphones then switch off automatically. Wearing the headphones ♦ When putting the headphones on, please note the side markings “R” (right) and “L” (left) on the inside of the head band 1. ♦ Adjust the headband 1 so that it fits your head comfortably and the earpieces e + r cover your ears. Pairing the headphones with a Bluetooth
device Before you can use the headphones with the Bluetooth
function, you must pair it with a compatible Bluetooth
device. ♦ To switch on the headphones, press and hold the button 5 until you hear a rising series of beeps and the operating/charging LED 0 lights up violet for 2 seconds. Afterwards, the operating/charging LED flashes blue once every 3 seconds. ♦ Press and hold the PAIRING button4 until the operating/charging LED 0 flashes alternately orange and blue to activate pairing mode. ♦ Set the Bluetooth
playback device so that it scans for Bluetooth
devices. A detailed description of how to do this can be found in the oper- ating manual for your Bluetooth
playback device. ♦ Select the entry SKBA 2 A1 from the list of found devices on your Bluetooth
playback device and, if required, enter the code 0000 to connect the two devices. If the pairing is successful, you will hear a rising series of beeps and the operating/charging LED 0 flashes blue twice at 3-second intervals.SKBA 2 A1
25 ■ NOTE ► After you have successfully paired the headphones with a Bluetooth
playback device, they will automatically try to connect to this device the next time you switch them on. Automatic reconnection only works if you have not terminated the Bluetooth
connection of the devices manually beforehand. ► Ensure that the headphones are no more than 10 metres away from the Bluetooth
playback device. Make sure that there are no barriers or electronic devices placed between them. ► If no connection can be made within 10 minutes, pairing mode ends and the headphones switch off. ♦ To terminate the Bluetooth
connection, either disable the Bluetooth
playback device or hold down the PAIRING button 4 for approximately 2 seconds until you hear a rising series of beeps, and the operating/charging LED 0 flashes red and blue. The headphones will return to pairing mode. ♦ Switch the headphones off to deactivate the Bluetooth
. To switch off the headphones, press and hold the button 5 until you hear a rising series of beeps and the operating/charging LED 0 goes out. Controlling music playback The following music playback functions are only available when the head- phones and the playback device are connected via Bluetooth
Some smartphones, music apps or music players may not support all functions. Button Function
► Press briefly to play/pause the music.
► Press briefly to increase the volume. When you reach the maximum volume you will hear a beep. ► Press and hold to jump to the next track.
► Press briefly to decrease the volume. ► Press and hold to jump back to start of the track. Press and hold again within 2 seconds to jump to the previous track.SKBA 2 A1 ■ 26
Telephone functions The following telephone functions are only available when the headphones and the playback device are connected via Bluetooth
. Some smart- phones may not support all functions. Make a call ♦ Use your smartphone to dial the required telephone number. The call is automatically transferred to the headphones. ♦ Speak into the device microphone w to make your call. Accept/reject/end a call NOTE ► If you are listening to music and receive a call, the playback will be paused until the call is ended and you will hear the ringtone in the headphones. After finishing the call, the playback will be resumed automatically. ► You can accept/reject calls via the headphones or your smartphone. The sound is automatically played back through the headphones. ► You can switch the audio source at any time via your smartphone. To do so, please follow the operating manual of your smartphone. button 5 Function Press 1 x (for incoming call). Accept call Press and hold for 2 seconds, then release (for incoming calls) Reject call Press 1x (during call) End call Press 2x Redial AUX IN mode You can use the supplied audio cable u to connect the headphones to non-Bluetooth
-capable devices. In AUX IN mode, the headphones behave like normal cable-connected headphones and can even be used with an empty battery. The Bluetooth
function is deactivated and the buttons on the headphones do not function. Speaker mode can be switched on in AUX IN mode as long as the battery is sufficiently charged. ♦ Make sure that the headphones are switched off. To switch off the head- phones, press and hold the button 5 until you hear a rising series of beeps and the operating/charging LED 0goes out. ♦ Connect the audio cable u to the AUX IN qconnection socket on the headphones.SKBA 2 A1
27 ■ ♦ Connect the audio cable u to the audio output (e.g. headphone jack) on the playback device. ♦ Switch on the playback device and set the volume to minimum. ♦ Put on the headphones as described in the section “Wearing the headphones”. ♦ Set the desired volume on the playback device. Speaker mode You can also use the headphones as mobile speakers. In Bluetooth
mode ♦ Connect the headphones with a playback device as described in the section “Pairing the headphones with a Bluetooth
3 to the position. The blue LED 2 indicates that speaker mode is activated. ♦ Move the slider switch
3 to the position to deactivate speaker mode. In AUX IN mode ♦ If you are using a playback device in Bluetooth
mode, ensure that the Bluetooth
function on the playback device is deactivated before you connect the headphones with the audio cable u. ♦ Connect the headphones to a playback device as described in the section “AUX IN mode”. ♦ Move the slider switch
3 to the position. ♦ Press the button 5 for about 2 seconds until the operating/ charging LED 0 flashes blue and the LED 2 lights up blue. Speaker mode is now activated. ♦ Move the slider switch
3 to the position to deactivate speaker mode. Storing the headphones Your headphones are fitted with swivelling earpieces, allowing them to be folded and stored without taking up much space. Proceed as follows to fold the headphones: ♦ Swivel both earpieces e + r so that they are inside the headband 1. You can now store the headphones in a space-saving way.SKBA 2 A1 ■ 28
Cleaning CAUTION ► Do not allow any liquids to penetrate interior of the headphones. This could cause irreparable damage to them. ► Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents, as these can damage the device surfaces. ♦ Clean the outer surfaces of the headphones with a slightly damp cloth. Storage when not in use ♦ Store the headphones in a dry environment. ♦ To ensure a long battery life, charge the battery at regular intervals. Troubleshooting Fault causes and remedies The following table will help you to identify and rectify minor malfunctions: Fault Possible cause Remedy Headphones does not switch on. Ensure that the headphones is no more than 10 metres away from the playback device. You hear no sound in your headphones. The playback device is not switched on. Switch on the playback device. The volume control of the playback device is set to the minimum volume. Increase the volume at the playback device. Sound is only coming from one side of the headphones. The stereo balance control on the playback device is incorrectly adjusted. Adjust it to the setting you desire.SKBA 2 A1
29 ■ NOTE ► If you are unable to resolve the problem by taking any of the aforemen- tioned steps, please contact the Customer Service department. Disposal The crossed-out wheelie bin means that this product is subject to the European Directive 2012/19/EU and must not be disposed of in regular household waste. The product must be taken to a special collection point for electric and electronic devices. The integrated rechargeable battery in this appliance cannot be removed for disposal. This type of disposal is free of charge for the user. It contributes to the protection of the environment, your personal health and valuable raw materials. Your municipal administration or nearest collection point can provide more information on waste disposal.
