PRIOR TO USE! PLEASE KEEP THE INSTRUC- TIONS IN A SAFE PLACE! IF PASSING THIS PRODUCT ON TO A THIRD PARTY, INCLUDE ALL DOCUMENTS! This device may be used by children aged 8 years and up, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or lack- ing experience and / or knowledge, so long as they are supervised or instructed in the safe use

f the device and understand the associated ri sks. Do not allow children to play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision. Do not use the product if you detect any type of damage. Switch the product off whilst storing in a dark environment to prevent draining the battery. This product is only suitable for the specified use. Product-specific safety instructions CAUTION! RISK OF INJURY! Make sure that when the light is removed, the ground stakes are also removed, so that they cannot pose any risk (e.g. stumbling over them). Make sure the solar cell is free of dirt and free of snow and ice in winter. Otherwise the per- formance of the solar panel will be diminished. Cold temperatures negatively impact the battery operating time. If the solar fairy lights garden set will not be used for extended periods, e.g. in winter, it should be cleaned and stored in a dry, warm location. The solar fairy lights garden set must not be connected with the power supply while it is still in its packaging, provided that the packaging has not been adjusted for exhibition purposes. Safety instructions for rechargeable batteries RISK OF

DREN! Rechargeable batteries are not intended to be in the hands of children. Do not leave the batteries lying around. There is a danger that these will be swallowed by children or pets. If they are accidentally swallowed seek immediate medical attention. CAUTION! EXPLOSION HAZARD! Use only rechargeable batteries of the recom- mended type. Other rechargeable or single-use batteries could explode during charging. FIRE HAZARD! Never short-circuit rechargeable batteries. Otherwise the rechargeable batteries may overheat, become a fire hazard or explode. CAUTION! EXPLOSION HAZARD! Never throw rechargeable batteries into fire or water. Expired or drained rechargeable batteries may leak chemicals which will damage the product.14 GB/IE Therefore remove the rechargeable battery if the fairy lights will not be used for extended periods. WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES! Leaked or damaged rechargeable batteries could cause chemical burns on contact with the skin; you should therefore wear suitable protective gloves at all times if such an event occurs. Only use rechargeable batteries of the correct size and and the recommended type (see section ”Technical Data”). Make sure you fit the battery with the right po- larity. This is displayed on the solar cell housing. Functionality The solar cell built into the product converts sunlight into electricity and stores it in a LI-ION rechargeable battery. The light switches on at dusk. The built-in LED is an energy-saving illuminant with a very long life. The light duration depends on the amount of sunlight, the angle at which light hits the solar panel, and the temperature (the battery capacity varies by temperature). A vertical angle of light at temperatures above the freezing point is ideal. The rechargeable battery will only achieve its maximum capacity after several charging and discharging cycles. Initial use Before first use, remove the protective film from the solar panel

Assembling the fairy lights Insert the ground stake

into the solar cell housing

(see Fig. A). Place the light cover

so that the eyelets catch in the notches (see Fig. B). Then, tighten the light cover

by turning it anticlockwise. To loosen the connection, turn the light cover

clockwise from the base plate

Attach the ground stakes

by inserting the ground stakes

into the prefabricated notches on the underside of the base plates

and tighten them by turning them counterclockwise. Installing the fairy lights Wear protective gloves when assem- bling and setting up the fairy lights. Ensure when setting them up that they are securely positioned. Push the ground spike

far enough into the ground (lawn, flower bed) so it is firmly posi- tioned upright in the ground. Make sure it is firmly positioned. Do not use any force when assembling or setting up the product, e.g. hammer blows. This will damage the product. In order to achieve the best result, set the solar fairy lights garden set up in a place where the solar cell will get direct sunlight for as long as possible. Make sure the solar cell is not impacted by other light sources, e.g. yard- or street lighting, or the light will not switch on at twilight. In low light the light will automatically switch on, and automati- cally switch off in normal ambient light. Insert the lanterns

with the ground stakes

so far into the ground (lawn, flower bed) that they are positioned securely and upright in the ground (see Fig. C). Switching the fairy lights on / off (see Fig. D) Slide the ON / OFF switch

to the “ON“ po- sition to switch the fairy lights

on. The fairy lights

will automatically switch on or off at twilight. Slide the ON / OFF switch

to the “OFF“ position to switch the fairy lights

off.15 GB/IE Replacing the rechargeable battery Note: For optimal performance, the rechargeable battery should be replaced every 12 months. Slide the ON / OFF switch

to the “OFF“ position to switch the fairy lights off. Use a small cross-tip screwdriver to remove the fixing screws

. Then use a slotted screwdriver to pry open the solar panel

on the solar cell housing

(see Fig. D). Replace the old battery with a new one; be sure not to damage the cables. Be sure to insert the batteries in the correct direction. This is indicated in the battery compartment. Use only recharge- able batteries of the recommended type (see “Technical Data“). Place the solar panel

again and tighten the fixing screws

using a small cross-tip screwdriver (see Fig. A and D). Slide the ON / OFF switch

to the “ON“ position to switch the fairy lights

on. Charging The battery charging period using the solar cell de- pends on the intensity of the sunlight and the angle incidence of the light on the solar cell. Place the so- lar cell as perpendicular as possible to the angle of light incidence. In this way you will receive the high- est light levels. Maintenance and cleaning The LEDs cannot be replaced. The solar fairy lights garden set is maintenance-free, except for any ne- cessary change of rechargeable battery. Routinely clean the solar fairy lights garden set with a dry, lint-free cloth. Use a slightly moist cloth if very dirty. Troubleshooting Note: The device contains sensitive electronic components. Radio transmitting equipment in the immediate vicinity may therefore cause interference. If you notice the device is malfunctioning, remove any sources of interference from the area around the device. Note: Electrostatic discharge can lead to malfunc- tions. In the event of such malfunctions, remove the rechargeable battery briefly and reinsert it. Error Cause Solution The light will not switch on even though the sun shone on the solar cell all day. Artificial sources of light, e.g. street light- ing, are inter- fering with the solar cell. Install the solar cell in a loca- tion where it will not be af- fected by other light sources. The light does not come on or comes on only briefly. The recharge- able battery is broken or there was not enough day- light. Replace the rechargeable battery or in- stall the solar cell in a loca- tion where it has greater exposure to sunlight. Disposal The packaging is made entirely of recyclable mate- rials, which you may dispose of at local recycling facilities.

Observe the marking of the packaging materials for waste separation, which are marked with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with following meaning: 1–7: plastics / 20–22: paper and fibre- board / 80–98: composite materials.
