How to set the time on the Electrolux EKF7700R coffee maker?

After plugging in, the display flashes (12:00 default). Press the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the time. You can change the time at any time, even during programming. If the appliance is unplugged, the time must be set again.

How to program the coffee maker to start automatically?

Press the PROG button to enter programming. The desired start time is displayed. Set the time with HOUR and MIN, then press AUTO ON to confirm. The screen shows the current time and the 'auto' symbol.

How to use the aroma selector?

Press the AROMA button to choose the intensity: once = mild coffee, twice = medium coffee, three times = strong coffee. This extends the brewing time for a stronger coffee, ideal for fewer than 6 cups.

What to do if the screen alternates between 'dESC' and '-ALE'?

This is the descaling reminder after 70 uses. Fill the tank with a water-vinegar mixture (1:1) or descaling solution. Place a filter (no coffee) and the carafe. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then run the solution through. Rinse twice with fresh water. To reset, press AUTO and PROG simultaneously.

Can I wash the parts in the dishwasher?

Yes, the carafe, its lid, and the filter holder are dishwasher safe. However, do not clean the body in the dishwasher; wipe it with a damp cloth.

Why does coffee overflow from the filter?

This can happen if you remove the carafe for more than 30 seconds during brewing. The anti-drip system prevents dripping, but the filter can overflow if the carafe is missing too long. Put it back quickly.

Does the coffee maker turn off automatically?

Yes, the Automatic Safety Shut-off function turns off the appliance after 40 minutes of inactivity, even if you do not turn it off manually.

What to do if the coffee is too weak or too strong?

Adjust the amount of ground coffee: one scoop (6-7 g) per cup for a medium-strength coffee. Use the aroma selector to strengthen extraction. Also check that the filter is properly positioned.

Can I use a paper filter instead of the permanent filter?

Yes, a size 1x4 paper filter can be placed in the filter holder instead of the included permanent filter. Both are suitable.

What to do in case of malfunction?

GETTING STARTED

1 Place the machine on a flat surface. When starting the machine for the first time, fill the tank with cold water. Start the machine with the ON/OFF switch. Let a full tank of water pass through the machine once or twice to clean it, without using a paper filter or coffee.
2 Setting/changing time. Plug in the machine, the display will flash the initial time showing: 12:00. Press the HOUR and MIN button to set the required time. Time can be changed at any time, even under program mode. Simply press the HOUR and MIN button, the time changes at once. Note: if you unplug the machine, the time needs so be set again.
3 Making coffee: open the lid and fill the water tank with fresh cold water up to the desired level. There is a water level indicator on the water tank and on the coffee jug. (The machine must not be used with empty tank!)
4 - Insert the permanent filter* or a 1x4 size paper filter in the filter holder and fill it with grounded cof fee. There is a gauge for recommended number of spoons of coffee next to the water gauge. For average strong coffee 1 measuring spoon (approx. 6-7 g) per cup is sufficient. Close the water tank lid and place the jug back (complete with lid).
5 Setting/changing delay time. Press and hold PROGRAM button more than 1 second, then release the program PROGRAM button, set hours by pressing the HOUR button. Then set minutes by pressing the MIN button. Press the AUTO ON button to confirm, the display will go back to show the current time immediately, and display show "auto" symbol. Note: If user don't press HOUR or MIN button again, the display will go back to show the current time after 5 seconds, and setting delay time is cancelled.
6 The Aroma Selector extends the brewing time to maximize the flavour extraction and get a stronger coffee for a small number of cups (normally less than 6). Press the AROMA button once for mild strength, twice for medium and 3 time for strong coffee.
7 Start the machine with the ON/OFF switch. The power indicator light will come on and hot water will flow into the filter. If the machine is not turned off manually, the Safety Auto-Off function turns it off 40 minutes after the end of brewing.
8 If the jug is removed, the filter valve prevents coffee from dripping onto the warming plate. (While preparing coffee, the jug must not be removed for longer than 30 seconds or the filter will overflow.)

CLEANING AND CARE

9 Turn the machine off and unplug the power cord. Wipe all outer surfaces with a damp cloth. Coffee jug and jug lid are dishwasher proof. Never use caustic or abrasive cleaners, and never immerse the machine in liquid!
10 To clean the filter holder, lift up the handle and remove the filter holder. To clean the filter valve thoroughly, push it several times while it is being rinsed. The filter holder can also be washed in the dishwasher.
11 As a precaution we recommend descaling after 70 uses. Use only an environmentally friendly descaling agent and always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
12 As a precaution, we recommend descaling your product after using it 70 times. This coffee maker has a built-in reminder set up. When an alternating display of "dESC" & "-ALE" appears, you should:

1. Fill the water tank with water + vinegar (1:1) or water + decalcifier according to the decalcifier product instructions.

2. Place the filter inside the basket and keep it there through the whole process.

3. Place the coffee jug with the lid on the warming plate.
4. Leave the descaling solution to work for approximately 15 minutes.
5. Switch on the appliance.
6. Once the descaling solution has percolated through, switch the appliance off.
7. If necessary, repeat the descaling procedure.
8. Repeat the procedure at least twice using clean water.
9. To reset the descaling counter Press the "AUTO"&"PROG" buttons at same time.

• Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
• Do not use or place the appliance on a hot surface or near source of heat.
• Warning: Avoid spillage on the connector.
• Attention: The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use.
• The mains cable must not come into contact with any hot parts of the appliance.
• This appliance is intended for domestic use only. The manufacturer cannot accept any liability for possible damage caused by improper or incorrect use.
• Never operate appliance with open lid.
