Your coffee maker may be tted with a Duo Filter (accessory in option depending on model). The Duo Filter is a double-action antichlorine and anti-scale lter. The anti-chlorine action of the lter brings out the most delicate aromas of the coffee. Tap-water frequently contains a chlorine level that impedes the development of the coffee’s aroma. CAUTION: the safety precautions are part of the appliance. Read them carefully before using your new appliance for the rst time. Keep them in a place where you can nd and refer to them later on.6 MAKING COFFEE Follow the illustrations from 1 to 9. Use only cold water and a No. 4 lter paper. This coffee maker is tted with a drip-stop device, allowing you to serve coffee before the water has nished running through. Replace the coffee pot quickly to avoid any overow. Do not exceed the maximum capacity of the water tank as shown by the water level indicator (e). Keep warm function: At the end of the cycle (i.e. when there is no more water in the tank), the heat will be maintained until it turns off automatically after about 30 minutes. Your coffee maker is equipped with a permanent lter (depending on model): Place the ground coffee directly in the permanent lter. After use, throw away the grounds and rinse the lter under running water. Do not use a paper lter at the same time as the permanent lter as this may lead to overowing. Your coffee maker is equipped with a avour selector (h) (according to model): This device enables you to obtain more strongly avoured coffee, especially for 1,2or3 cups (9). The anti-scale action allows for a longer period between descaling operations. The lter elements making up the Duo Filter (non-polluting activated vegetable carbon and anti-scale resin) comply with the food laws in force. For the protection of the consumer, it is treated with silver salts with a bacteriostatic action. This lter has passed tests by recognised laboratories. The Duo Filter can be disposed of as domestic waste. Remove the Duo Filter (j) from its plastic covering. Rinse it under tap water for 1minute. Lift the cover (a) of the water tank (b) and lift out the lter holder (k). Rotate the lower part of the support and insert the lter into its housing. Replace the lter holder in the coffee maker: the coffee maker is ready for use. Note: there is a rotary indicator on the upper part of the lter holder. This indicates when the Duo Filter should next be changed (l): turn the indicator so that the number of the month when the Duo Filter (j) should next be changed is opposite the index mark. Example: if you replace the Duo Filter (j) in January (1) you should set the indicator to March (3) or May (5), depending on the hardness of your local water supply. Place the number 3 or 5 opposite the index. Important: the Duo Filter must only be used with drinking water, the coffee maker still functions if there is no lter, if the coffee maker has not been used for more than one month, rinse the Duo Filter under running water, it is recommended not to leave the Duo Filter in place for more than 5 months. The cover must be screwed tightly shut (clockwise). The pot can be lled with coffee and keeps it hot without further intervention. To serve the coffee, press on the button above the handle (10). Your coffee maker with vacuum pot is equipped with an automatic stop system (according to model): The appliance will stop once the water has nished running through. Wait a few minutes before making another batch of coffee. CLEANING To dispose of the used grounds, lift the lter holder out of the coffee maker (11). Unplug the appliance. Do not clean the appliance while hot. Clean with a damp cloth or sponge. Never immerse the appliance in water or put it under running water. The glass coffee pot, the cover and the lter holder can be washed in the dishwasher. To clean the stainless steel vacuum pot (according to model) thoroughly

1. Put a dishwasher tablet into your stainless steel vacuum pot (only).

2. Completely ll the vacuum pot with boiling water.

3. Leave to work for 10 minutes.

4. Rinse with hot water three times.

You may use: either a sachet of descaler diluted in 250ml of water, or 250 ml of white vinegar. Pour into the tank (b) and start the coffee maker (without coffee). Allow half the liquid to run into the coffee pot (c), then switch off. Leave to work for one hour. Restart the coffee maker to complete the run-through. Rinse the coffee maker by running it 2 or 3 times with 1 L of clean water. The guarantee does not cover coffee makers that fail or work badly, due to scale.8
