Frequently Asked Questions - Leon 700D Ceado

How to adjust the grind on the Ceado Leon 700D?
Turn the adjustment ring (6) at the base of the bell: counterclockwise for a finer grind, clockwise for a coarser grind. Perform this adjustment with the motor running and empty, without coffee between the burrs.
How to adjust the dose of ground coffee?
Use the dose adjustment knob (10) on the doser. Each full turn changes the dose by approximately 0.5 g. Turn clockwise to decrease the dose (minimum 6.5 g) and counterclockwise to increase (up to 10 g).
What to do if the appliance does not turn on?
Check the power plug and the circuit breaker. Ensure the ON-OFF switch is in the 'I' position. If the appliance has been running for a long time, the motor may be in thermal protection: wait 20 minutes in a cool place. For the automatic model, check that the doser is not full and that the stop paddle (9) is free.
How to clean the Ceado Leon 700D?
Always unplug the appliance before cleaning. Clean the motor base with a damp cloth (water or alcohol). The bell can be washed with warm water and mild soap. For the doser, use a brush for hard-to-reach areas. Never immerse the appliance in water.
When should the burrs be replaced?
The burrs are subject to normal wear. The manufacturer recommends replacing them every 400 kg of coffee for the 700D model (600 kg for the 800D). Wear depends on the type of coffee and roast. Worn burrs reduce grind quality.
Can I use pre-ground coffee in the bell?
No, the bell is designed exclusively for coffee beans. Do not put ground coffee or any other substance in it. Doing so may damage the appliance and compromise safety.
What is the maximum capacity of the doser?
The doser can hold approximately 300 g of ground coffee. On the automatic model, grinding stops when the doser reaches this level thanks to a stop paddle. After six doses are taken, grinding resumes automatically.
How to install the optional telescopic tamper?
Unplug the appliance. Remove the original support fork, select the appropriate tamper diameter (53, 54.5 or 57.5 mm), attach it to the rod. Mount the long fork provided with the same screws, then the telescopic tamper. Tighten everything firmly.
Is the appliance very noisy?
The noise level of the Ceado Leon 700D is less than 70 dB, which corresponds to moderate background noise. It complies with current standards for professional use.
How to dispose of the appliance at the end of its life?
Do not dispose of the appliance with household waste. It must be taken to a collection center for recycling of electrical and electronic equipment (according to EU Directive 2012/19/EU). Contact your local municipality.

Before first use: rinse all of the parts that will have contact with food in running water i.e.: bean hopper, lid, shutter, doser, tray.

SWITCHING ON

1 Fill the hopper with coffee beans and close the lid.

Ceado Leon 700D - SWITCHING ON - 1

Be sure to keep the lid of the doser unit closed during operation of the appliance.

2 Turn the ON-OFF switch to position "1".

Manual model

3 The appliance will start working and must be stopped by the operator by means of the ON-OFF switch once the desired amount of coffee has been obtained.

Automatic model

3 Press the start button (11 Fig. 3). The appliance will start working, grinding a sufficient amount of beans to fill the doser up to its maximum level which considers a capacity of about 300 g of ground coffee; once this has been reached, a switch stops the motor. Further coffee grinding will resume automatically after six doses of ground coffee have been extracted.

Timed model

3 Set the desired operating time (5-60 seconds) using the setting knob (15 Fig. 2) and press the start button (11 Fig. 3). The appliance will begin to work and will stop automatically after the set time.

REGULATING GRINDING

When it leaves the factory the machine has a standard setting, but it may be necessary to adjust grinding further due to various external factors such as the type of mixture used, the humidity, temperature, or the particular distribution requirements of the espresso coffee machine.

The degree of grinding may be further corrected by shifting the grinding adjustment disc (6 Fig. 1) at the base of the hopper (see Fig. 5).

• To obtain a finer grind, move the grinding adjustment disc in a counter-clockwise direction.
• To obtain a coarser grind, move the grinding adjustment disc in a clockwise direction.

Ceado Leon 700D - REGULATING GRINDING - 1

Always take care to move the disc with the motor turning and empty (without coffee between the burrs).

NOTE! It is recommended to grind small amounts of coffee, letting the burrs empty with every regulating attempt, by opening and closing the shutter (7 Fig. 4) each time.

Ceado Leon 700D - REGULATING GRINDING - 2

text_image Coarser grind: clockwise direction Finer grind: counter-clockwise direction Fig. 5

REGULATING DOSING

When it leaves the factory the machine is regulated at about 7 grams, but it is possible to turn the dose regulating knob (10 Fig. 2) to adjust this amount between about 6.5 grams and 10 grams (see Fig. 6).

Each complete turn of the knob corresponds to about 0.5 grams of ground coffee: turn it clockwise to decrease the dose, turn it counter-clockwise to increase the dose.

Ceado Leon 700D - REGULATING DOSING - 1

text_image To decrease the dose: turn in a clockwise direction To increase the dose: turn in a counter-clockwise direction Fig. 6

Rest the filter-holder of the coffee machine on the support fork and pull the doser lever all the way once or twice to extract one or two doses of ground coffee.

The lever has a strong return spring so there is no need to reposition it after every dose.

To distribute the ground coffee evenly in the filter use a press holding it parallel to the filter and pressing down the coffee as preferred.

WARNINGS AND SUGGESTIONS

In the automatic model, inside the doser there is a stopping blade (9 Fig. 2) connected to a switch which, when raised by the newly ground coffee, cuts out the motor.

Ceado Leon 700D - WARNINGS AND SUGGESTIONS - 1

Never operate the blade by hand as this would risk filling the doser to excess or damaging it.

Ceado Leon 700D - WARNINGS AND SUGGESTIONS - 2

Never operate without hopper and lid in place.

Ceado Leon 700D - WARNINGS AND SUGGESTIONS - 3

Make sure that shutter is completely open (to the last click) (see Fig. 7).

Do not let the grinder-doser run long without coffee beans in the hopper; if this were to happen it would cause tripping of the motor thermal overload protection. In that case it is necessary to wait until the overload protection is reset before starting to grind coffee again.

For this reason, never leave the pack of coffee beans sitting in the hopper as this prevents you seeing how many coffee beans are left.

Ceado Leon 700D - WARNINGS AND SUGGESTIONS - 4

natural_image 3D rendering of a mechanical device with a conical funnel and base mount, labeled Fig. 7 (no text or symbols on the diagram itself)

When the grinder-doser is not to be used during the time when the business is closed, it should always be switched off with the main switch.

Ceado Leon 700D - WARNINGS AND SUGGESTIONS - 5

Put only coffee beans in the hopper, not ready-ground coffee or other substances.

CLEANING

It is important to keep the appliance clean and in good working order to ensure optimum quality of the products and long life of the appliance.

Cleaning of the appliance must be carried out by persons with knowledge and practical experience of the appliance.

At the end of each working day, clean the outer surfaces dirty with coffee (motor housing, tray, doser etc.). Clean the appliance completely at least once a week.

Ceado Leon 700D - CLEANING - 1

Always disconnect the plug of the appliance from the power socket before cleaning it.

Ceado Leon 700D - CLEANING - 2

Clean the motor housing and the tray with a cloth dampened with water or alcohol.

Wipe with a dry cloth.

Ceado Leon 700D - CLEANING - 3

Never put the appliance under running water and never immerse in water.

Once the hopper has been removed it can be washed with lukewarm water and neutral soap, then rinse it and dry well.

Ceado Leon 700D - CLEANING - 4

Cleaning the doser unit requires great care because inside it there is an electromechanical device which could get damaged.

- Use a brush or a paintbrush (Fig. 8) to clean the most hidden areas inside the unit and a dry cloth for the other surfaces.

MAINTENANCE

Ceado Leon 700D - MAINTENANCE - 1

Maintenance must be carried out exclusively by qualified technical personnel.

Care for the mechanical and electrical parts of the appliance is indispensable in order to guarantee their safety and efficiency. If any parts need replaced, authentic spare parts must always be used.

The burrs are subject to normal wear and the manufacturer recommends replacing them roughly every 400 kg for model 700D and 600 kg for model 800D. The normal wear of the burrs can change according to the type of coffee blend/origin used and the degree of roast, making the indication of the kg produced variable, also because they are influenced by the cleaning and maintenance intervals of the burrs, based on the use of a brush or paintbrush and/or the use of specific products such as Puly Grind.

The efficiency of the burrs is important in order to guarantee the quality of the grind as regards size and the temperature of the ground product; these parameters may have a considerable influence on the success of a good espresso coffee.
