What does error 3 mean on the CECOTEC Nana BabyCare Digital Sterilizer and how can it be resolved?
Frequently Asked Questions - 22/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Error 3 on the CECOTEC Nana BabyCare Digital Sterilizer indicates a problem with water level detection or a malfunction of the water sensor at the base of the device. This error code usually appears when the sterilizer does not detect enough water to start a sterilization cycle, or when the sensor responsible for this detection is not functioning properly.

Before taking any action, it is important to note that the CECOTEC Nana BabyCare sterilizer should never be operated without water inside, as this could damage the heating plate. Here are the steps to resolve error 3:

  • Check the water level: First, unplug the device, then check the amount of water in the tank located at the base of the sterilizer. You need to add distilled or filtered water until you reach the "MAX" mark indicated on the heating plate. Use the cup provided with the product for precise measurement. The water must never exceed the MAX mark, as this could damage the electrical components.
  • Clean the water sensor: The sensor located under the heating plate may be obstructed by limescale, mineral residues, or deposits. Unplug the device and let it cool down. With a soft, slightly damp cloth, gently clean the surface of the heating plate and the area around the sensor. If you notice significant limescale deposits, pour a mixture of water and white vinegar onto the heating plate, let it sit for 10 minutes, then run an empty sterilization cycle to rinse the system. Finish by wiping with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Check that water is not entering through the air outlet grille: Ensure that the ventilation grille located on the side of the device is not blocked by water or debris. Water must never enter through this grille, as it could damage the internal circuits of the sterilizer.
  • Completely restart the device: Unplug the sterilizer from the power outlet for 2 to 3 minutes, then plug it back in. Press the power icon to turn on the device. The screen should display "- -" in standby mode. This allows the system to reset and often correct temporary errors.
  • Check the lid closure: Ensure that the transparent lid is properly positioned and completely closed. A poorly fitted lid can prevent the sterilizer from correctly detecting the water level and trigger error 3.

If error 3 persists after following all these steps, there is likely a technical issue with the water sensor or the detection circuit. In this case, do not attempt to repair the device yourself. Contact the official Cecotec After-Sales Service at +34 963 210 728 or visit notice-facile.com for contact details of the support service in your country. Cecotec will be able to diagnose the problem and offer a repair or replacement if necessary.
