1. Getting to know your device
Why is sleep so important? A restorative night’s sleep is of great importance for our physical and psychological well-being; after all, it is during sleep that we process new experiences and improve our mental and physical fitness, among other tasks. The beurer SL 15 DreamSound sound therapy sleep aid has been specially design for making it easier to get to sleep. This sleep aid offers four calming melodies for relaxa
tion – ideal preparation for helping you fall asleep. Why is falling asleep so difficult for us? When we encounter stress and anxiety, the autonomic nervous system puts our bodies into a state of alarm. The body then excretes the stress hormone cortisol and inhibits the production of the sleep hormone melatonin, resulting in sleeplessness. This sleep aid helps you actively return your autonomic nervous system to a state of balance. Its calming sounds distract you from your thoughts and slow down your brain activity. The release of cortisol declines while the production of the happiness hor
mone dopamine rises, enabling you to fall asleep more quickly and easily.20
