USER MANUAL TG 3697 CLATRONIC
This warns you of dangers to your health and indicates possible injury risks. CAUTION: This refers to possible hazards to the appliance or other objects. NOTE: This highlights tips and information. General Notes Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this appliance to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.
- The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not t for commercial use.
- Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
- When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
- Do not operate the appliance without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the appliance off. Remove the plug from the socket.
- The appliance and the mains lead have to be checked regularly for signs of damage. If damage is found the appliance must not be used.
- Use only original spare parts.
- In order to ensure your children’s safety, please keep all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene etc.) out of their reach.
Do not allow small children to play with the foil. There is a danger of suffocation! Special Safety Precautions for this Appliance
WARNING: Hot surface! Danger of burns!
During operation and afterwards, the temperature of the accessi- ble surfaces will be very high.
- Only take hold of the appliance at the thermostat and handles.
WARNING: Fire hazard!
Oil and fat can burn when overheated.
- Keep sufcient safe distance (30 cm) to inammable objects such as furniture, curtains, etc. CAUTION:
- Only the supplied thermostat may be used. No other regulator should be used under any circumstances!31 TG3697_IM 12.03.18 CAUTION:
- Always set the temperature control to “0” (off), before attaching or removing the thermostat. The appliance may otherwise be- come damaged.
- Ensure that the thermostat is correctly plugged into the appli- ance. The temperature control must face up.
- When removing the thermostat, pull on the plug, not on the ca- ble!
- Do not apply excessive force when plugging in or removing the thermostat.
- Please ensure that the mains lead does not come into contact with the hot sections of the appliance.
- This appliance and the mains cable are not intended for immer- sion in water during cleaning. Refer to the instruction provided in chapter “Cleaning”.
- Do not operate the appliance with an external timer or separate remote control system.
- Never pour water into hot fat.
- Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning it.
- Keep the temperature sensor and the plug pins clean.
- Do not repair the appliance by yourself. Please contact authorized personnel. If the mains cable of this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by a special connection cable available from the man- ufacturer or its customer service.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older 8 years and supervised.
- Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years. Unpacking the Appliance
1. Remove the appliance from its packaging.
2. Remove all packaging materials like foils, lling materi-
als, cable holders, and carton packaging.
3. Check the scope of deliveries for completeness.
4. If there are missing parts or obvious damage, do not use
the appliance. Return it to your retailer immediately. NOTE: There may still be dust or production remains on the appliance. We recommend that you clean the appliance as described under “Cleaning”. With this connected load a separate supply line protected by a 16 A household circuit breaker is recommended. CAUTION: Overload!
- If you use extension leads, these should have a cable cross-section of at least 1.5 mm².
- Do not use any multiple sockets, as this appliance is too powerful. Connection
- Make sure that the appliance is switched off. The tem- perature control must be set to “0”.
- Make sure that the iron voltage (see name plate) and the line voltage match.
- The mains plug should only be inserted into a correctly installed socket with earthing contact. Before Initial Use
1. Operate the appliance for around 10 minutes on the
highest setting (see “Initial Operation”). NOTE: This process normally produces a little smoke and some smells. Provide sufcient ventilation.
2. Let the appliance cool down completely.
3. Wipe the grill surfaces with a damp cloth.
Your appliance is now ready to use. Initial Operation
1. Place the griddle in the bamboo case. To do this, insert
the socket for the thermostat in the opening in the bamboo case. Place the feet of the griddle in the opening of the case.
2. Place the appliance on a level, water and heat-resistant
surface. The surface should be easy to clean as spatter- ing is unavoidable. If resting on a sensitive surface, place a heat-resistant plate beneath it.
3. Please ensure that the temperature regulator is turned to
“0” (off) and insert it into the socket of the thermostat. CAUTION: If the thermostat is not inserted correctly, this may lead to abnormal heating, of which the consequence may be damage or accidents. You should therefore en- sure that the thermostat is inserted correctly.
4. Connect the appliance to a properly installed power

5. Set the temperature control according to what you intend
to do: Range Use 1 Keeping warm 2 Cooking 3 Simmering 4 Stir-frying 5 Grilling NOTE:
- The appliance has reached the correct temperature when the control lamp on the thermostat goes off.
- During operation, the pilot lamp switches on and off. This is normal and indicates that the temperature is being thermostatically controlled and maintained. Fat Collecting Pan Excess fat collects in the drip tray.
- Slide the drip tray into the bracket under the griddle.
- When grilling you should check the contents regularly and empty the pan when necessary. Using the Appliance
The appliance is hot during use! CAUTION: Avoid damage to the non-stick coated grill surfaces!
- Only use wooden or Teon spatula.
- Do not use pointed objects (e. g. knife, fork) on the grill surface.
- Do not use plastic utensils. They can melt. NOTE:
- Use the corrugated side of the griddle for meat, in order to achieve an intensive grill pattern.
- The non-stick coated grill surfaces enable dishes to be prepared without the use of fat.
- If you want to use oil ensure that it is highly heatable, such as sunower oil. Do not use olive oil or butter, since they start smoking already at low temperatures.
- Preheat the appliance for around 6 minutes. When the pilot lamp goes out, the grill is ready to use.
- The cooking time depends on the type of food, the quan- tity, and how well cooked the food needs to be, and it must be determined according to your own preferences.
- Turn over the food as required.
- When the cooking process is complete, switch the tem- perature control to “1” to keep the food warm. After Use
- To switch the appliance off, rst turn the temperature reg- ulator to “0” (off) and remove the plug from the socket.
- Do not remove the thermostat from the appliance until the appliance has cooled down, as the temperature sensor is still very hot after use. Cleaning
WARNING: Risk of electric shock!
- Never immerse the appliance and the thermostat in water to clean it.
- Never clean the regulator with damp items.
- Never immerse the cable loom in water!
- Always pull out the plug from the mains socket before cleaning and wait until the appliance has cooled down.34 TG3697_IM 12.03.18 CAUTION:
- Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
- Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents. Thermostat Please clean the thermostat with a soft paper towel or a soft try cloth. Griddle
- Please remove any food residues while they are still warm with a damp cloth or paper towel.
- Wipe the griddle with a soft sponge and soapy water, rinse with clean water, and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. After drying please apply a thin lm of edible oil to the surface. Fat Collecting Pan
