the following influencing factors that should be taken into account prior to and during each use:

Is the correct type of material being processed - Is the device in proper working order
- Are the handles or optional vibration handles mounted and fixed securely up against the body of the machine.
If your hands experience an unpleasant sensation or the skin changes colour while you are using the machine, stop working immediately. Take sufficient breaks. If you do not take sufficient breaks, this may cause hand-arm vibration syndrome.
You should estimate the level of load caused in conjunction with the work or use of the machine and take the appropriate breaks. This method can be used to considerably minimise the level of load during the entire working time. Minimise risks in which you are exposed to vibrations. Take care of your machinery in accordance with the directions in the operation instructions.
If the machine is to be used frequently, contact your dealer and arrange antivibration equipment if necessary.
Avoid using the tool in temperatures of t = 10^ or lower. Draw up a working schedule which can be used to minimise vibration loads.

4 - Correct use
This random orbital sander only functions in dry grinding mode and, using the appropriate accessories, is suitable for the following types of work: cleaning, sanding, polishing of wood, metal and mineral surfaces. Only use the machine, tools and accessories for additional tasks (observe the manufacturer specifications) when these fall under the specified scope of use. All other uses are expressly excluded.
This unit may not be used by people (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, with a lack of experience and without the appropriate knowledge, unless they are supervised by someone who is responsible for their safety or have been instructed by such a person with regard to how the unit is to be operated. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
The machine is intended only for use in the household.
Improper use of the product
All applications carried out with the device that are not listed in the "Proper use" chapter will be considered improper use.
Uses for which the tool is not designed may cause risks and injury. Do not use accessories that are not intended specifically for this electrical tool.
Just because you can affix an accessory to your electrical tool, there is no guarantee it is safe to use.
The permitted revolutions of the tool insert must be at least as high as the highest value specified on the electrical tool. Accessories that turn faster than is permitted may break and fly away.
The external diameter and thickness of the tool insert must match the dimensions of your electrical tool. Incorrectly measured tool inserts cannot be properly protected or checked.
There is a risk of injury. The user of the device is liable for all property and personal damages occurring as the result of incorrect use.
If other components or non-original components are used with the machine, the manufacturer guarantee is voided.
Remaining risks:
The operating instructions for this electrical tool contain comprehensive tips for the safe handling of electrical tools. However, every electrical tool has a certain level of remaining risks which cannot be excluded by the protective mechanisms on the device. Always operate electrical tools with the necessary care.
Remaining risks may be, for example:

Touching rotating parts or tools.

Injury caused by flying tools or tool parts.

Risk of fire with insufficient ventilation of the motor.
Adverse effects on the hearing caused by working without ear defenders.
The ability to work safely is dependant on the familiarity of the operator when it comes to handling the given electrical tool. Appropriate knowledge of the machinery and careful behaviour when working help to minimise the remaining risks.
5 - General safety instructions for handling power tools
WARNING! Read all safety warnings and all instructions.
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains operated (cored) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1 Work area
a Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
b Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2 Electrical Safety
a Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
If it is not possible to avoid using the electrical tool in a damp environment, use a residual current circuit-breaker. The use of a residual current circuit-breaker reduces the risk of an electrical shock.
3 Personal safety
a Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.
Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used.
Use of these devices can reduce dust related hazards.
4 Power tool use and care
a Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance
with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
5 Service
a Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
Additional safety notes for grinders and polishers
- Wear a dust-protection mask. Breathing in dust represents a risk to the operator and anybody else in the vicinity.
- Wear suitable personal protective gear. Touching or skin contact with dust represents a risk to the operator and anybody else in the vicinity.
Note: When sanding, for example, paint containing lead, as well as certain types of wood and metal, it is possible that poisonous dust may be generated. Take appropriate precautions to prevent operators and anyone else in the area breathing in dust/coming into contact with dust.
- Use the additional handle supplied with the unit. Loss of control of the unit may lead to injuries
6 - Safety instructions relating specifically to the equipment
Always switch on the device before introducing it to the workpiece.
- Materials containing asbestos may not be processed. When working with any other materials containing fibres, use dust protection masks and extraction systems.
- If you wish to use the device outdoors, ensure it is connected via a residual current circuit breaker. Extension cable and plug must be designated for use outdoors.
- Only use for dry sanding work.
- Breathing in dust from sanding is a health risk, therefore always work with the dust extraction function activated. If necessary, use a mask.
- Only attach accessories with hook and eye coatings to the sanding plate.
- The dust extraction openings of the sand paper and the sanding plate must match, as far as possible.
- When sanding, do not put excessive pressure on the machine in order to prevent the machine from coming to a standstill.
- Secure the work piece to prevent it from slipping by using tensioning mechanisms.
Make sure that cables always lead away from the work place. - During operation, always guide the device with both hands and ensure that you are standing firmly.
The device should never be allowed to get wet and should not be operated in a damp environment. - Prior to each use, check the device, the cable and the plug. Any damages
should only be repaired by a specialist. Only plug the device into the socket when the machine is switched off.
- When carrying out work in which dust is generated, wear a face mask and safety goggles - do not smoke and avoid naked flames.
- When using sanding sheets and handling rough materials, wear gloves.
- Wear ear-proTECTORS.
- Wear safety goggles.
- Before carrying out any work on the machine, pull the plug out of the socket.
- Do not leave keys in the machine.
- Observe the general safety notes for handling electrical tools.
- Switch the device off and pull the plug out of the socket if the connection cable is damaged. A damaged cable must be replaced by the manufacturer or by their customer service or a similarly qualified person.

7 - Installation and setting
Revolution regulation/Revolution pre-selection function (Figure 1)
The machine has an electronic function for controlling the revolutions. Activating the switch (1) enables continuous modification of the revolutions within the specified values, for example, to enable a gentle start.
The adjustment wheel (8) for preselecting the revolutions allows you to select the revolutions suitable for the material in question, (+) increases the revolutions, (-) decreases the revolutions.
Additional handle (Figure 2)
The additional handle (7) serves to ensure safe handling and guidance of the machine during sanding. The handle can be smoothly adjusted to the most practical position for working. Turn the wing screw on the additional handle to the left to loosen, move the handle to the required position, then tighten the screw by turning to the right.
Attaching the sandpaper (Figure 3)
CAUTION! Switch off the machine, disconnect the power.
The sanding plate is fitted with a hook and loop system for sanding sheets. This enables rapid application of new sheets without the need for a tensioning system. Before applying a new sheet, tap the dust from the hook and loop fastening of the sanding plate. Stretch the sandpaper taut over the sanding plate (6) and ensure that the dust extraction holes of the sanding plate and discs match up.
Stretch the sanding paper over the sanding plate (5) and ensure that the holes (4) of the plate and the disc match up.
Dust extraction (Figure 4)
Connect the dust collection bag (4) to the dust extraction connector (5). Check the filling level, and empty frequently.
Always work with a dust extraction system connected!
8 - Operation
Switching on and off
Connect the plug to a power socket.
- Switch on continuous operation: Press button (2) [I].
- Switch off continuous operation: Press button (2) [0].
9 - Mode of operation
CAUTION! Only carry out work with a light pressure.
Sanding
Position the entire sanding surface on the piece of work.
Switch the machine on and guide it over the surface to be sanded using circular motions. Do not apply additional pressure to the machine when sanding, the weight of the machine itself is usually sufficient to ensure optimum revolutions and a good result. Do not tip! Complete several sanding processes using sand paper that gradually gets finer.
Polishing
Apply polish using a cross-coat method and allow to dry slightly before polishing. When you have completed your work, reduce the pressure, lift the machine from the piece you are working on, and then switch the machine off.
10 - Maintenance and environmental protection
CAUTION! Before performing any care or maintenance work, disconnect from the power.
Use a dry brush to clean the dust extraction openings. Clean the housing with a damp cloth only - do not use solvents! Then dry well. Remove the dust collection bag from the plastic section to empty. Empty carefully, try not to create dust. Do not breathe in saw dust! Wash out the bag in cold soapy water and allow to dry.
Before each use, check the machine, the cable and accessories to ensure that they are not damaged. Have any necessary repairs completed by a specialist. Machines that no longer function properly should be disposed off correctly in accordance with the local regulations.
CAUTION! Electrical and battery operated units that no longer work should not be disposed of in the household waste! They are to be collected separately, in accordance with the 2012/19/EU directive for the
disposal of electrical and electronic waste, and sent for proper and environmentally-friendly recycling.
Please discard power tools no longer usable at a local collection point. Collection and disposal of packaging materials separately by types complying with local rules and regulations. For details, please contact your municipal authority concerned.
11 - Service instructions
- Store the machine, operating instructions and where necessary the accessories in the original packaging. In this way you will always have all the information and parts ready to hand.
- Meister devices are to a large extent maintenancefree, a damp cloth being sufficient to clean the casing. Please note additional hints given in the operating instructions.
- Meister devices are subject to stringent quality control. If however a functional fault should occur, send the device to our servicing address. The repairs will be carried out in a short time.
- A brief description of the defect speeds up the faulttracing and repair time. If within the guarantee period, please
enclose theguarantee document and the proof of purchase.
- In so far as a repair under guarantee is not concerned, we will charge the repair costs to your account.
PLEASE NOTE! Opening of the device invalidates the guarantee claim!
IMPORTANT! We point out expressly that in accordance with the Product Liability Act we do not take responsibility for any damage caused by our appliances, in so much that said damage is caused by improper repair, or original parts or parts released by us not being used when parts are changed, or repairs not being conducted by Meister Werkzeuge GmbH, Customer Service or an authorised specialist! The same applies analogously to the accessories used.
- Pack the device well or use the original packaging in order to avoid transit damage.
Even after the expiry of the guarantee period, we would like to help you and carry out any repairs at a favourable price.
