Frequently Asked Questions - 14903 REV

Which batteries to use for the transmitter and receiver?
The transmitter uses a 12 V A23 battery (included) and the receiver uses two 1.5 V LR14 batteries (not included). Observe polarity when installing.
How to program the code between transmitter and receiver?
Open the battery compartments, turn the channel selectors (④ on transmitter, ⑤ on receiver) to the same position among the 16 codes available (1 to 16).
What is the maximum range of the doorbell?
The maximum range is 30 m in open space. Thick walls, especially reinforced concrete, reduce the range.
What to do if the doorbell does not work?
First check that the codes of transmitter and receiver are identical. Then check the condition and polarity of the batteries. If the problem persists, change the code (e.g., from 1 to 3) in case of malfunction due to radio saturation.
Can I use the doorbell outdoors?
No, the device is designed for indoor use only. Do not expose it to moisture or rain.
How to clean the doorbell?
Use a slightly damp cloth, possibly with a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive or solvent-containing products.
How to dispose of used batteries?
Do not dispose of batteries with household waste. Place them in a collection point provided for this purpose (municipality, store). Make sure they are discharged.
How to dispose of the device at end of life?
Do not dispose of the device with household waste. Follow the WEEE (2012/19/EU) guidelines and take it to an appropriate recycling center.
Is the doorbell compliant with European standards?
Yes, the manufacturer REV Ritter GmbH declares that this device complies with Directive 2014/53/EU (radio equipment). The full declaration is available at www.rev.de.
What to do if the range is too short?
Check the battery condition (they may be weak). Avoid attaching the transmitter to a metal surface that would block the signal. Test the device at the final location before mounting.

  • This set of radio chimes consists of a transmitter and a receiver. Other transmitters

2. Technical data

Range: max. 30m (in open area)

Volume: max. 85dB

Transmission frequency: 433,92MHz

Frequency band: 433,05 - 434,79MHz

Max transmission power: <10mW

Dimensions: receiver 68 x 95 x 40mm transmitter 79 x 22 x 25mm

3. Battery operation

Remove the cover from the battery compartments ① + ② and insert the specified batteries - pay attention to correct polarity (+/-).

Safety instructions for batteries

  • Inserting the batteries the wrong way round (incorrect +/- polarity) can damage/destroy the appliance
  • Do not store batteries within the reach of children. This applies in particular to batteries that could be swallowed
  • Seek immediate medical help for affected person in the event of a battery being swallowed
  • Do not attempt to revive batteries by heating up or similar measures. Primary batteries may not be recharged as this can result in electrolyte leakage, fire and explosions
  • Do not immerse batteries in water and do not store in a damp place. Always store in a dry and cool place
  • Do not throw batteries into fire. Do not attempt to open, solder or weld
  • Do not short-circuit batteries

Please dispose of batteries in compliance with legal requirements (see section no. 9)

4. Coding

The transmitter B and receiver A must be assigned the same code first before you can operate the receiver A by remote control. 16 different coding possibilities are available to ensure that the receiver reacts without fail to the transmitter's signals. Open the cover of the battery compartment on the transmitter ② and turn the switch ④ to a position between 1 and 16 chosen by you. The switch ⑤ on the receiver A has to be set the same position.

TIP: Test the required function before final installation at your chosen installation point (see text no. 5).

5. Important instructions

  • The range between the transmitter and receive is max. 30 m in an open area. The radio signal's strength depends on constructional conditions when being transmitted through walls, panelling, furniture and other obstacles – walls, in particular reinforced concrete walls and ceilings – lead to a reduction in range.
  • Reception can be severely impeded by screening from metal parts so that a transmission of the signal is no longer possible. For this reason, never attach the transmitter B to a metal surface.
  • To install, drill appropriate holes at chosen installation point and fasten the individual devices into place using the provided fastening materials. Test the function of the device at the chosen installation point first before completing final installation.

6. Troubleshooting

Radio transmission is on a non-exclusive channel which is why it is not possible to exclude errors completely.

No function

  • Check the coding of the transmitter and receiver – they must be the same.
  • Check the batteries; they may be flat or inserted incorrectly.
    Only functioning at short range
  • Check the batteries; they may be flat or getting low.
    Incorrect function
  • Incorrect activation may occur as a result of overloads of radio channels in built-up areas. If this occurs, please change the coding - e.g. from 1 to 3.

7. Cleaning

Only use a slightly damp cloth, possibly with a mild detergent, to clean the surface. Do not use any detergents containing scouring agents or solvents.

8. Disposing of batteries

Batteries and accumulators are not to be disposed of in the normal house waste bin. Every user is legally obliged, to hand over all batteries and accumulators, irrespective of whether or not they contain harmful substances to a communal collection point in the local town area or to a trade dealer so that they can be disposed of in an orderly environmentally friendly manner. Batteries and accumulators should only be handed over when they are completely discharged!

REV 14903 - Disposing of batteries - 1

9. WEEE- reference of disposal

In accordance with European defaults used electrical and electronics devices may no more be given to the unsorted waste. The symbol of the waste bin on wheels refers to the necessity of separate collection. Please help with environmental protection and see to it that this device is given to the for this purpose designated systems of waste sorting if you do not use it any longer.
