Selection of stirrer insert and programme
With or without froth? First select the suitable stirrer insert:
- Choose the smooth stirrer insert to heat milk.
- Choose the ribbed stirrer insert to froth hot or cold milk.
- Choose the ribbed stirrer insert to heat and froth cocoa.
In general, always use one of the two inserts to prevent the milk from burning. - Clamp the insert that is not used into the designated device in the bottom of the base station for storage.
Select the appropriate stirring programme for milk or cocoa as well as hot or cold mediums:
- Stirring programme for frothing and/or heating (to approx. 60^ ): press the operating button once briefly - the signal light lights up red, the stirring process starts automatically, and the milk is heated. The selected stirrer insert determines whether with or without frothing.
- Stirring programme for cold frothing, without heating: press the operating
button three times in quick succession - the signal light lights up blue, the stirring process starts automatically, and the milk is frothed cold (with the ribbed insert).
- Stirring programme for drinking chocolate, with heating (to approx. 70^ ): press the operating button twice in quick succession - the signal light lights up white, the stirring process starts automatically, and the cocoa is heated and frothed (with the ribbed insert).
- You can switch between the three programmes by pressing the operating button.
Note: Always choose the appropriate insert for stirring or frothing.
Heat milk and make milk froth

-
Lift the lid off the milk container.
-
Place the desired stirrer insert into the milk container. Use the smooth insert for simple heating of the milk and the ribbed one for hot or cold milk froth.
-
Pour in the desired amount of milk. Always make sure that the minimum capacity (100ml) is reached and that the maximum capacity (250ml) is not exceeded to prevent overheating and overflowing.
-
Close the milk container with the lid.
-
Centre the filled milk container on the magnetic heating plate of the base station and insert the power plug into the socket.
-
Activate the desired programme by pressing the operating button (see section on programme selection). The stirring and frothing process begins after activation. After 1-4 minutes (depending on the filling quantity and the milk's initial temperature), the device stops automatically, and the signal light turns off. The milk is now ready.
Press the operating button again once to prematurely terminate the programme - the device will stop immediately.
Prepare hot drinking chocolate

- Lift the lid off the milk container.
- Place the ribbed stirrer insert into the milk container.
- Pour in the desired amount of milk. Always make sure that the minimum capacity (100 ml) is reached and that the maximum capacity (250 ml) is not exceeded to prevent overheating and overflowing. Add cocoa or instant drinking chocolate to the milk in the container. You should not use more than 50 g at maximum capacity.
- Use the lid to close the milk container.
- Centre the filled milk container on the magnetic heating plate of the base station and insert the power plug into the socket
- Activate the programme for drinking chocolate by pressing the operating button (see section on programme selection). The stirring and frothing process begins after activation. After 3-7 minutes (depending on the filling quantity and the milk's initial temperature), the device stops automatically, and the signal light turns off. The drinking chocolate is now ready.
Press the operating button again once to prematurely terminate the programme - the device will stop immediately.

Attention, the container is very hot after heating milk - danger
of burns!
NOTE: Overheating protection
The built-in overheating protection monitors the motor and appliance temperature. If milk has just been heated, it is not possible to restart the stirring and heating process immediately. The appliance must first cool down somewhat before it can be used again.
If the filling quantity is too low, the overheating protection can automatically switch the motor off. Therefore, always pay attention to the minimum and maximum filling capacities (100-250 ml).
Tips for perfect milk froth
- Fat content of milk: For milk froth that is as firm as possible, use low-fat milk with 1.5% fat. For rather creamy milk froth, use full cream milk with 3.5% fat.
- Freshness of the milk: Fresh milk is more difficult to froth than long-life milk. For consistent froth quality, long life milk is best.
- Temperature of the milk: The best froth results are achieved using refrigerated milk.
- Other types of milk: You can use
classic cow's milk for frothing as well as other milk varieties such as soy milk. The froth quality varies from type to type.
- For cold coffee specialties such as iced coffee, you can froth cold milk.
- Milk that is warmed and frothed between 60^ and 70^ is ideal for a variety of coffee specialities and hot chocolate.
- For particularly firm milk froth, you can first froth the cold milk and then again when hot.
Recipe ideas
Cappuccino
The classic Italian coffee consists of 1/3 espressoro and 2/3 hot milk with creamy froth. First prepare the espresso. Heat and froth the milk (preferably full cream for creamy froth) and then pour the hot milk along with the frothy milk into the cup with the espresso. If you like, you can garnish the froth hood with some cocoa powder.
Latte Macchiato
Latte macchiato is traditionally served in a tall glass to reveal its three layers. Heat the milk and froth it heavily (best is low-fat milk for stable froth). First, pour the hot milk into the glass and carefully put the milk froth on top. Then add the
espresso and pour it hot, in a thin stream through the milk froth into the glass. The espresso sinks to the bottom and the three typical layers of espresso, milk, and froth appear.
Café latte
Café latte or café au lait is, as the name implies, made up of one half milk and one half coffee. Heat the milk without frothing it and mix it in a cup in equal parts with classically brewed coffee.
iced coffee
iced coffee is served cold and can consist of cold coffee, espresso, or cold brewed coffee. Pour the cold coffee into a large glass and add two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Froth a little milk and fill the glass up with cold milk froth. If you like, you can garnish the froth hood with some cocoa powder or grated chocolate.
Cleaning and care
After each use, the appliance should be cleaned and dried as follows. Insufficient or improper care of the appliance may affect the performance of the milk frother.

Allow the milk container and heating plate to cool down
completely after use and before each cleaning to avoid burns.
For reasons of electrical safety, the base station, mains power cord, and appliance plug must not come into contact with water, and by no means be immersed in liquid.
- Use a sponge or soft brush and rinse with warm water and a small quantity of mild detergent to clean the inside of the milk container.
- Do not use scratching or abrasive cleaners, hard brushes, and steel wool sponges to protect the material and the heating element from scratching.
- Turn off the appliance before cleaning the base station and unplug the power cord from the wall socket. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
Try to carefully but completely remove
any hot plate contamination before each use.
- Ensure that the power cable, appliance plug, and motor do not come into contact with water during cleaning.
- In case of heavy soiling and after removing the wooden handles, only the milk container, lids, and stirring inserts may be washed in the dishwasher. It is recommended to gently clean the wooden elements by hand.
If necessary, the handles on the lid and container can be unscrewed without additional tools. - Carefully dry all items after cleaning.

- Remove the used stirring insert and rinse carefully under warm water.
-
Fill the milk container with hot water and some detergent after use. For heavy soiling and burnt milk residue, soak the filled container for 5-10 minutes, then wipe with a sponge.
-
The base station must not be cleaned under running water. Use only a damp cloth to remove dirt.
- Do not submerge the base station.
- The stirrer insert can be safely stowed and protected in the storage device in the bottom of the base station after cleaning.
Trouble shooting
If the device does not work properly, please check the following steps:
- Check if the manual was followed precisely and correctly.
- Check the following table for possible reasons.
- Check if all fuses are working.
| problem solution | |
| The operating button has been pressed, but the signal light stays off and the appliance does not start. | Check power cable and appliance plug. Are they correctly connected to the socket or are they damaged? |
| Check the general power supply to the socket. | |
| The overheating protection is possibly blocking the start. Did you allow the appliance to cool down sufficiently after the previous use and did you observe the prescribed capacities? | |
| The appliance is switched on and runs, but no milk froth is produced. | Check if a stirring insert is inserted into the milk container. |
| Make sure you are using the correct stirring insert. To produce froth, the ribbed insert must be placed into the container. | |
| Make sure that the stirring insert is centred and fits snugly on the magnet holder at the bottom of the milk container. | |
| The appliance takes an unusually long time to complete the programme and warm and froth milk. | Check that the maximum filling capacity is not exceeded. |
| Check the colour of the signal light at the start of the programme – if it lights up white, you are using the programme for drinking chocolate, with hotter milk and longer running time. | |
| Mia gets loud, squeaks, or makes a rattling sound when frothing. | Make sure that the milk container is placed in the middle of the heating plate. |
| Switch Mia off, remove the stirrer, and reinsert it. Restart the process. |
