Preparation of ingredients for Juice attachment

Prohibited ingredients

Ingredients that may cause part damages

Ice and frozen ingredients
Seed of peach, plum, mango, cherries, olives etc.
Persimmon (whose seeds cannot be removed completely)
- Dry foods (soy bean, other beans, grains etc.) - Unheated pumpkin etc.
Sugar cane
Liquor, vegetable oil, other cooking oils Meat, fish etc.
Hot foods or ingredients*

Heated foods which contains large amount of starch

Beans

Potato

Sweet potato

Pumpkin etc.

Sticky ingredients which are not squeezable

  • Lotus root
    Okra

Mulukhiya etc.

Oily ingredients*2

Sesame
Walnut
Peanut etc.

1 Cool down to under 60^ before handling.
2 Oily ingredients which can be squeezed with liquid added.

Ingredient preparation

Common

  • Cut fruit or vegetables into pieces that are small enough to fall down into the small/large feed inlet.
  • Cut stick type ingredients such as carrots, or cucumber into less than 8 cm length.
  • When using large feed inlet with carrots, cut it into 5cm length and width or less.

Fruit

  • Peel the thick skin and remove large and/or hard core, seeds, and stones from fruit such as pineapple, citrus fruits, peaches, and mangoes.

Vegetable

  • Remove stem end and seeds.
  • Cut leaf vegetables into approximately 3cm pieces or strips.
  • Cut thick fibrous vegetables such as celery into 2 cm length or less.

Tips

Common

  • Use fresh fruit and vegetables.
Taste and extracting amount may vary with freshness and harvesting timing of ingredients.
  • When using ingredients with less moisture, add equivalent amount of liquid such as water or milk little by little.
  • It is better juicing ingredients which contain a lot of flesh such as bananas, peaches or mangos with moist fruit such as apples or oranges.
  • Leaf vegetable is easy to stick to the squeezing screw and/or inside of attachments or easy to jam the pulp spout. Recommend to feed them into the small feed inlet with stems.
    Cooked mushrooms are not recommended.
  • Do not put the pulp into the small feed inlet again for extracting.

  • When squeezing large amounts of juice

  • Juice may not flow well when the pulp clogs and presses against the gear section (depending on ingredients). If the pulp stops releasing or juice does not flow smoothly, stop juicing and wash out the clogged pomace. Ingredients that more easily clog with pulp: Grapes, pineapples, cooked asparagus, broccoli, ginger, etc.

  • Juice may not flow because solid fruit content or pulp is blocking juice spout when squeezing low moisture ingredients and cooked vegetables. Use high moisture ingredients or some liquid to make smooth squeezing.

Preparation of ingredients for Frozen cone

  • Do not use the large feed inlet when using the frozen cone.

Prohibited ingredients

Ingredients that may cause part damages

Ice cubes and deeply frozen ingredients.

Coffee beans, dry beans, grains etc.

Pumpkin, sweet potato etc. (Frozen when raw or after being boiled)

Bread, rice, noodles, and pasta.

PANASONIC MJL501 - Prohibited ingredients - 1

PANASONIC MJL501 - Prohibited ingredients - 2

Liquor, vegetable oil, other cooking oils.

PANASONIC MJL501 - Prohibited ingredients - 3

Ingredient preparation

① Peel skin and remove large and/or hard seeds and stones etc. from ingredients such as apples, pineapples, oranges and avocado.

For citrus fruit, peel thin skin to have better texture.

For tomatoes, boil them and peel skin.

② Cut ingredients into pieces that are small enough to fall down into the small feed inlet. (Less than 3 cm cubes.)

③ Freeze ingredient. When freezing ingredients, spread them out flat on an aluminium tray avoiding that they touch each other.

PANASONIC MJL501 - Ingredient preparation - 1

(4) Thaw frozen ingredients at room temperature until a fork can penetrate to their centre. (approx. 5-30 minutes)

Tips

  • When thawing is insufficient, ingredients are not mixed or they do not become a smooth texture.
  • Do not use re-frozen ingredients or ingredients which are stored in a freezer for a long period of time.
  • Frozen ingredients should be used within one month.
If frozen ingredients are used immediately after taking out from a freezer, it may cause a malfunction on the appliance.

How to use

Preparations

Depending on ingredients (especially hard ingredients), their pulp may mix into the juice.
If pulp is disturbing your drink, strain your drink.
- When pulp is not coming out or pulp is accumulating back of the pulp spout and top of the juice attachment, turn the switch off and remove them.

GB18

Extracting (Using large feed inlet with juice attachment)

  • When using the frozen ingredients, do not use the large feed inlet.

Troubleshooting

Problem Cse and solution
The juicer does not run after the power is switched on.● Is the mains plug inserted into a household mains socket? → Insert the mains plug into a household mains socket. ● Set the juicer correctly. → The lid needs to be turned until you hear a “click” sound. If you fail to do so, the juicer will not run after the power is switched on. (See P. GB15) ● The circuit breaker protection is activated. → See “circuit breaker protection”. (See P. GB23) Remove prohibited ingredients from the juicer.
The motor housing is hot.● The operating time is longer than the rated duration. → Follow the rated duration (up to 15 minutes). To resume operation, please wait for at least 30 minutes. This allows the motor housing to cool down and avoid failure due to overheating of motor.
The juicer stopped suddenly.● The lid or small feed inlet is open. → Switch off the power, close the lid, and start again. ● The circuit breaker protection is activated. → See “Circuit breaker protection”. (See P. GB23) Remove prohibited ingredients from the juicer. ● Clogging of pulp spout. → Switch off the power and remove residue using the tip of cleaning brush handle.
Noise during operation.● This is normal. You may hear sound such as squeaking or cracking. ● These are the sound of ingredients being compressed. (Depending on the ingredients, the noise may be quite loud.) ● This is the sound of the rotating brush contacting with juice cone.
Leakage of juice or frozen dish.● Incorrect assembly of the gasket, rubber brushes and/or rubber plug. → Attach them correctly. (See P. GB12-13)
The juicing bowl or motor housing shakes during operation.● This is normal. Since the juicing bowl and motor housing are a split type, they may shake when the squeezing screw is rotating. Do not press the lid or juicing bowl. (Doing so may result in failure of the juicer.)
Abnormal noise or vibration.● The squeezing screw and attachments are not attached correctly. → Attach the squeezing screw and attachments correctly. (See P. GB12-13)
