How to install the IPCA73500 expansion module?

Open the housing, mark the mounting holes, drill and insert wall plugs. Pass the 4-wire bus cable and zone cables. Screw the back panel to the wall, reconnect the circuit board, then connect the bus and zones according to the type (NC+TAMPER, DEOL, EOL). Close the module and power on the control panel. The control panel automatically learns the zones.

What types of detectors can I connect to the zones?

You can connect NC (normally closed) contact detectors with or without tamper, as well as detectors in DEOL (double end of line) or EOL (end of line) configuration. The module supports 8 independent wired zones.

Is the module compatible with my TERXON control panel?

Yes, the IPCA73500 module is compatible with TERXON M and TERXON MX control panels. Connection is via a 4-wire bus. Make sure the control panel recognizes the module when powering on.

How to configure the end of line resistor?

The module supports three connection types: NC+TAMPER (without resistor), DEOL (with different resistors for alarm and tamper), and EOL (not used). Use the appropriate resistors according to the control panel manual. The values are not indicated in the manual.

What to do if the control panel does not detect the module?

Check that the module is correctly powered (12 V DC) and that the 4-wire bus is properly connected. Also ensure that the control panel is powered off during connection. If the problem persists, reset the control panel or contact ABUS technical support.

What is the power consumption of the module?

Maximum consumption is 30 mA at 12 V DC. This value is indicated in the technical data sheet. Make sure your control panel can provide this additional power.

Can I use zones without a resistor?

Yes, if you use the NC+TAMPER configuration, no resistor is needed. The line is simply terminated by a normally closed contact. For other configurations, resistors are required for line monitoring.

Is the module weather resistant?

The module is designed for indoor use only. Operating temperature is 0 °C to 40 °C. Do not expose to moisture or weather.

How to test the operation of the zones?

Once installed and powered, activate each connected detector (e.g., open a contact). The control panel should indicate the zone status. You can also use the control panel's test mode. The module does not have a built-in test.

2. Installation

1. Open the housing of the hardwired expansion unit.
2. Release the 3 screws and remove the PCB from the rear wall of the unit.
3. Use the rear of the hardwired expansion unit to draw the boreholes at the required assembly location. Bore the appropriate holes and insert the correct dowel pins into then.
4. Insert the cable of the 4-wire BUS as well as the required cable from the zones through the two larger holes on the rear of the module.
5. Screw the rear of the housing with the correct screws onto the required assembly location and re-insert the PCB.
6. Make sure that the alarm centre is disconnected from the mains.
7. Connect the 4-wire BUS and the zones correctly, depending on the zone type.
8. Once more close the 8-zone expansion module.

3. Description of components

The 4 wires from the communication bus of the alarm panel are connected at the data BUS as described in the installation instructions of the alarm panel. Additional modules are connected in parallel at this BUS. The zone ranges are differentiated by the addressing of the modules.

You must also set the type of zone wiring. The zone types from the alarm centre and the expansion modules may be different.

NOTE:

When putting into operation, the alarm centre automatically learns which zones are additionally assigned by the expansion module.

4. Zone wiring

4.1 NC+SABO

The respective contact closes the line. No additional resistors are inserted in the line.

4.2 DEOL

There is a simultaneous tampering (sabotage) and alarm monitoring for every detector circuit (CCT). Different resistors are required.

4.3 EOL

This circuit is like in the central not used.
