• Children should be supervised at all times in order to ensure that they do not play with the device.

Preparation

Remove the mill body

1. Give the body one short turn anti-clockwise.
2. Remove the body by pulling it up.

Insert batteries (Batteries not included)

WARNING: Risks when handling batteries!

• Do not expose the batteries to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
• Never throw batteries into the fire. There is a danger of explosion!

CAUTION:

• Different types or new and used batteries may not be used together.

• Do not dispose of batteries with household waste. Take spent batteries to a dedicated collection point or to a dealer.

• Insert 3 identical type batteries of MICRO/AAA/R03 type into the battery compartment. Observe the correct polarity of the batteries when inserting.

Fill with corns/grains

CAUTION:

If salt grains are too coarse/large and hard, they may block the grinding mechanism. In this case, proceed as described under "Troubleshooting Restricted grinding mechanism".

NOTE:

• The optimum salt grain size is 3mm .

• The grains can be poured in more easily using a funnel.

• Pour the grains into the filling slots of the storage chamber:

• The storage chamber above the white grinding mechanism is designed for salt.

• The storage chamber above the grey grinding mechanism is designed for pepper.

Close the housing

1. On the body and the storage chamber you will find the symbols ( and ).

2. Position the body of the mill in such a way that the top dot lies above the triangle.

3. Turn the mill body clockwise until it audibly clicks into place.

The body of the mill is properly locked into place when the two points are aligned above one another.

Adjust the grinding grade

1. Turn the wing nuts

2. clockwise, to grind the grain/corns finer.

3. anti-clockwise to grind the grains/corns coarsely.

iNOTE:

If the grinding grade is too coarse, the wing nuts may come loose from the shafts. In this case, proceed as described under "Troubleshooting Assembling the grinding mechanism".

Operation

To grind the grains/corns, press one of the two buttons:

• "S" for salt
• “P” for pepper

iNOTE:

If you press both buttons at the same time, the motor will not switch on.

Whilst not in use

If the unit is not used for long periods of time, remove the batteries to avoid "leakage" of battery acid.

Cleaning

CAUTION:

• Do not immerse the balance appliance in water: the electronic components can be damaged.
• Do not use a wire brush or any abrasive items.

• Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.

• Clean the device with a slightly moist cloth. Make sure that no humidity or waters seeps into the device!

• Dry the device well after cleaning with a dry and soft cloth.

Troubleshooting

Unit does not work

Possible cause:

The body of the mill is assembled incorrectly.

Action:

Check that the body is assembled correctly:

• The "S" button must lie directly above the white grinding mechanism.
  The body must have audibly locked into place.

Possible cause:

The batteries are spent.

Action:

Change the batteries. Use 6 new MICRO/AAA/R03 type batteries.

Blocked grinding mechanism

1. Turn the wing nuts anti-clockwise.
2. If necessary, trigger the grinding mechanism by quickly pressing the respective button.

1. Remove the jammed grains/corns with a soft brush.
2. Turn the wing nut clockwise with gentle pressure on the shaft.
3. Adjust the desired grinding grade.

iNOTE:

Components may have come loose. If this is the case, re-assemble the unit following the instructions below.

Assembling the grinding mechanism

• Refer to the assembly overview on page 3. If necessary, the components must be placed onto the shaft in the following sequence:

• Washer (5)

• Spring (6)
• Adapter (7)

• Grinding mechanism (8) including adapter (9)

• Turn the wing nut clockwise with gentle pressure on the shaft.

• Adjust the desired grinding grade.
