1. Use

CARAT Caracoup - Use - 1

CAUTION!

Before using the machine read the safety instruction chapter carefully.

All machines have been thoroughly tested and checked before leaving our factory.

Carat Centrale B.V. works for a continuous development of the machines the company manufactures, therefore the company reserves the right to modify its models. No rights can be therefore claimed as far as data and pictures of this manual are concerned.

The CARACOUP diamond blade cutting machine is suitable for cutting any type of ceramic material. It can also be used to carry out 90^ as well as 45^ cuts (jolly). The cutting depth and inclination can both be adjusted.

2. Precautions

The manufacturer declines any liability for the use of any CARACOUP tile cutter with tools other than the original ones and for the cutting of materials not indicated in the paragraph "RECOMMENDED USE".
- The CARACOUP is designed to work exclusively according to the ADMISSIBLE WORKING CONDITIONS indicated in the paragraph: "TECHNICAL DATA".
- During the cutting phase it is therefore recommended to interrupt the working cycle as indicated.
- The CARACOUP was not designed to work under continuous load.

CARAT Caracoup - Precautions - 1

CAUTION!

Keep in mind the following tips:

  • Let the motor slide slowly. Avoid any disk blocking.
  • Make sure that the piece to be cut is duly leaned against the tile stopper.
  • Before any cutting operation make sure that the adjustment knobs for cutting inclination are tightened.
    After some cutting sharpen the disk with a hone.

WARNING!

During cutting operations dangerous splinters may come off.

To reduce risk of eye injury from splinters always wear proper protective goggles.

CARAT Caracoup - Keep in mind the following tips: - 3

The continuative use of the machine for 8-hour-shifts causes an exposure to noise levels above 85 dB(A); it is therefore necessary to use proper ear defenders in order to reduce any risk of ear injury according to the Italian decree D.L. 277/91.

3. Installation

Remove the machine from the packaging with the aid of the side carrying handles. To set up the machine for work proceed as follows:

1) Remove the leg lock pin and raise the rear side (pump side) of the machine with the handle until the leg is fully extended (See picture 1).

CARAT Caracoup - Installation - 1

2) Raise the leg by sliding it inside the slot.

CARAT Caracoup - Installation - 2

3) Repeat the operation for the front side of the machine (See picture 2).
4) Insert the tube-holder rod in its seat (See picture 3).

CARAT Caracoup - Installation - 3

Should it be necessary to disassemble the machine carry out the above operations in reverse order.

4. Transport

The CARACOUP machine is easy to carry by using the specially provided side handles. Before carrying the machine make sure that:

  • the motor slide is locked in place with the two cutting adjustment knobs on the slide rail;
  • the motor slide is completely lowered and locked with the locking lever;
  • the machine is in the 45^ (jolly) position and that the inclination adjustment knobs are properly tightened;
    the tube-holder rod is out of its housing:
    the feet are closed and the leg lock pin inserted.

5. Connecting to power supply

The machine must be connected to the mains by means of a residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) or a II class isolation transformer with the following specifications:

RCCB: In 6 A Id 30 mA

Transformer: 230 V 50 Hz 1500 W

Continuous duty

IMPORTANT: Check the RCCB periodically to ensure that it is working efficiently. Carry out the test by pressing the push-button on the front panel of the same.

In any case, before plugging the machine in at the socket always make sure that mains voltage is the same as the one indicated on the machine identification plate.

CAUTION!

ADJUSTMENT OF COOLING WATER

Through an on-off valve placed on the disk protection it is possible to adjust the water flow according to the type of material to be cut. An innovative cooling system makes it possible and allows the disk to be always wet.

7. Cutting at 90^

CARAT Caracoup - Cutting at 90^ - 1

CAUTION!

Thanks to the great versatility of the CARACOUP machine it is possible to carry out different types of cutting.

Take the disk to the 0^ position with the inclination adjustment knobs (See picture 7).

Position the piece which needs cutting on the working table and make sure that it is properly leaned against the tile-stopper. If necessary, a bearing square can be of help.

CARAT Caracoup - Cutting at 90^ - 2

CAUTION!

THE MILLIMETRE RULER PLACED ON THE WORKING TABLE HELPS ONLY WITH THE CARRYING OUT OF LINEAR CUTTING.

CAUTION!

Take the cutting disk to the 45^ position with the inclination adjustment knobs (See picture 7).

Lock the motor carriage at the max. cutting depth with the locking lever. Picture 8 shows the proper way the machine should be used.

With the CARACOUP machine it is also possible to set out:

a- the cutting length with the cutting adjustment knobs (See picture 6);

b- the cutting depth with the locking lever (See picture 8);
c- the straight cut measurement with the tile bearing square as well as the ruler placed on the working table (See picture 6);
d- the cutting adjustment with the specially provided indicator and ruler placed on the slide rail.

CARAT Caracoup - Cutting a surface at 45^ (jolly) - 2

In order to carry out special working it is possible to set out any cutting inclination ranging from 0^ to 45^ as marked on the machine side (See picture 9).

CARAT Caracoup - Cutting a surface at 45^ (jolly) - 3

CAUTION!

BEFORE ANY CUTTING MAKE SURE THAT THE TILE TO BE CUT IS PROPERLY LEANED AGAINST THE TILE-STOPPER.

9. Maintenance

CAUTION!

DISASSEMBLY OF THE DIAMOND BLADE

Loosen the two nuts on the blade guard and remove it. Remove the blade fixing nut with a 19 mm wrench and a 5 mm Allen key.

CARAT Caracoup - DISASSEMBLY OF THE DIAMOND BLADE - 1

CAUTION!

THE BLADE FIXING NUT HAS A LEFT-HAND THREAD.

After dismantling the blade, clean the blade flanges carefully and check them for wear.

Grease any surface with fine oil and go on with the assembly of a new blade. Check for correct direction of rotation as clearly indicated on the tool.

CAUTION!

MOTOR CARRIAGE ADJUSTMENT

The motor carriage is provided with a register for the vertical play adjustment. If any excessive play of the motor carriage should take place, act as follows:

1) Loosen the register fixing nut with a 10mm wrench;
2) Screw down the dowel with a 4 mm Allen key until the play is eliminated;
3) Lock the register again with the fixing nut.
