CAUTION:

The appliance becomes very hot during operation!

The manufacturer does not assume any warranty in case of improper or incorrect use or after repair by unauthorized third parties.

FIRSTUSE

  1. Before first use, we recommend cleaning the non-stick waffle plates with a damp cloth.
  2. Close the appliance and connect the plug to a wall socket (230V, 50Hz) . The red control lamp lights up and indicates that the heating is operational.
  3. Turn the temperature control to the intermediate position to start to preheat. When the appliance has reached the preset temperature, the green control lamp lights up.
  4. Heat the appliance up for a couple of minutes without dough, in order to eliminate possible manufacturing residues. Make sure the room is well ventilated during this

process. After the initial heating process the appliance might show signs of wear, which do not affect its features and do not constitute a reason for rejection.

  1. Before first use, slightly grease both waffle plates with heat resistant grease like margarine, for example, using a pastry brush (as the waffle plates are non-stick coated, greasing is only necessary before the very first use).
  2. The appliance may generate a slight smell when first using it, which is absolutely normal.

PREPARING THE WAFFLES

  1. Place the dough in the middle of the lower waffle plate using a ladle. The dough will be spread evenly over the waffle plates by closing the lid of the appliance. Please make sure you use the right quantity of dough. If the quantity of dough is insufficient, the upper part of the appliance does not close properly and the upper side of the waffles will not be as brown as the lower side. If it is too much, the dough will overflow and soil the appliance and the worktop.
  2. Close the appliance immediately after placing the dough, so that the waffle will brown evenly on both sides.

  3. A few seconds after placing the dough, the green control lamp turns off. The appliance will be heated up again and the baking process starts.

  4. The temperature control is continuously adjustable: with a lower level adjustment, the waffles will be light brown and dark brown with a higher level adjustment. Any other browning grade desired is continuously adjustable between highest and lowest adjustment.
  5. When the baking process is finished, the green control lamp lights up again. This indicates that the waffles are ready and can

be removed from the appliance. At the same time, the heating will be interrupted.

  1. If the waffles are not brown enough, adjust the control to a higher temperature. If the waffles are too brown, adjust the control to a lower temperature.
  2. The appliance may be filled with dough immediately after removing the waffles. The green control lamp turns off again.

  3. Repeat these steps until all dough has been used.

  4. After finishing, disconnect the plug from the wall socket in order to switch the appliance off.

Attention: After disconnecting, the appliance is still very hot for some time!

CLEANING

  1. To clean, unplug the appliance and let the appliance cool down.
  2. Never immerse the appliance into water or any other liquid.
  3. It is best to clean the baking surface while it is still warm with a soft brush or with a damp cloth.

  4. Never use pointed or hard objects. They would scratch the antistick coating.

  5. The appliance must be completely dry before using it again.
  6. For storage, you can wind the cable around the cable storage underneath the appliance and then store it vertically.

RECIPES

Waffles taste best when they are still warm and fresh from the maker. If you want them to be crispy then you should not pile them on top of each other, but leave them to cool off a little on a cake grid. But waffles also taste very good when served cold. They remain fresh and crisp for some time when kept in a closed container (e.g. a cookie jar – do not forget to let them cool off first).

However, you need to mix more grease into the dough. Another alternative is just to deep freeze the waffles. If the dough contains only small amounts of grease, it is advisable to grease the anti-adhesive baking surfaces slightly with a greasing brush. The waffles can then be removed more easily from the waffle mould. If you use too much grease it can spill over while making the waffles and make the appliance dirty. Moreover, the waffles then also develop spots.

If the batter leads to undesired results, e. g. it remains clinging to the waffle mould or the waffles are not of an even brown color, you might need to change to a better quality flour. Therefore only use high quality flour. Another reason: old grease, which was not removed completely, might be burnt. In such a case, clean the baking surfaces carefully and then grease them with butter or bacon rind. If you add milk (especially full-cream milk) and sugar to the batter you get darker waffles. On the other hand, if you add coconut grease to the batter the waffles keep a lighter appearance. The batter ingredients such as butter, margarine, eggs, milk, etc. have the same temperature. For this reason, it is advisable to keep the ingredients at room temperature for some time before using them. This will keep the dough from clogging and developing spots during baking.

Here are a few basic recipes which have already been tried out in our laboratory kitchen. You can easily change these recipes to meet individual tastes by varying the different ingredients. If you want to make more or less waffles you can, of course, alter the amounts specified accordingly.
