- Do not allow children to operate this equipment.
- Do not operate the machine under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicines.
- Do not mount or remove parts of the machine while in operation.
- Keep kids, pets or unauthorised staff 10m away at least.
- Do not run engine powered machines in an enclosed area since the exhaust from an engine contains carbon monoxide, which is colourless, odourless and tasteless; Carbon monoxide can be extremely dangerous in enclosed areas.
- Avoid wearing clothing that is loose ftting or that has hanging cords or ties.
- Do not operate the machine on a paved or gravel surface where ejected material could cause injury.
-
Wear ear protection and safety glasses at all times while operating the machine.
Before starting the machine, check that all screws, nuts, bolts, and other fasteners are properly secured and that guards and screens are in place. Replace damaged or unreadable labels. -
Only operate the machine in an open space and on a firm, level surface.
- Only operate the machine with dry weather and, never outside while it is raining.
- Never use the machine if the security system is damaged or not working well.
- Do not let the machine unattended and turn off the engine while you are not operating with it.
- If the cutting mechanism strikes any foreign objects or if the machine should start making any unusual noise or vibration, shut off the power source and allow the machine to stop. Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug (electric unit disconnect from supply).
- Do not let using the machine to anybody who has never read the user manual or not has been familiarised with it.
- Operate with the machine while there is a good lightning conditions.
- If the machine starts vibrating in a different way as usual, shut of the engine and verify the cause - immediately. Vibration means another issues.
- Have any damaged parts replaced or repaired with parts having equivalent specifications.
- This machine is not allowed to be used by people (children) with physical, mental or sensorial handicapped. Or if they do not have any knowledge or experience.
- Use extra care in handling fuels. They are flammable and the vapours are explosive.
- Use only an approved container.
- Never remove the fuel cap or add fuel with the power source running. Allow engine and exhaust components to cool before refuelling.
- Never refuel machine indoors.
-
Do not smoke.
-
Store the machine or fuel container inside where there is an open fl ame, such as a water heater, far from fl ammable things.
- If fuel is spilled, do not attempt to start the power source, but move the machine away from the area of spillage before starting.
- Always replace and securely tighten the fuel cap after refuelling.
- If the fuel tank is drained, this should be done outdoors.
- Never use your hands or metallic tools to push the remains inside the hopper.
- Do not touch the muffler or the exhaust because they can have very high temperatures and you can burn yourself.
- Do not leave any remainder on the discharge chute, they can blockage the machine.
- Before start operating, check the wind direction to not work face to the gases.
- Keep proper balance and footing at all times.
- Only operate the machine in open space (e.g. not close to a wall or a fixed object) and on a fi rm, level surface.
- Do not operate the machine on a paved or gravel surface where ejected material could cause injury.
OPERATION SAFELY
- Before starting the machine, look into the feeding chamber to make certain that it is empty.
- Keep your face and body away from the hopper.
- Do not allow hands or any other part of the body or clothing inside the feeding chamber, discharge chute, or near any moving part.
- Keep a proper balance and footing at any time. Do not overreach. Never stand at a higher level than the base of the machine when feeding material into it.
- Be extremely careful that pieces of metal, rocks, bottles, cans or other foreign objects are not included. If the cutting mechanism strikes any foreign objects or if the machine should start making any unusual noise or vibration, shut off the power source and allow the machine to stop. Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug (electric unit disconnect from supply).
- Inspect for damage. Check for and tighten any loose parts. Have any damaged parts replaced or repaired with parts having equivalent specifications.
- Do not allow processed material to build up in the discharge zone; this may prevent proper discharge and can result in kickback of material through the feed intake opening. If the machine becomes clogged, shut-off the power source and disconnect the spark plug wire (electric unit disconnect for supply) before clearing debris. Keep the power source clear of debris and other accumulations to prevent damage to the power source or possible fire. Remember that operating the starting mechanism on engine powered machines will still cause the cutting means to move. Keep all guards and defl ectors in place and in good working condition.
- Do not tamper with the power source governor settings; the governor controls the safe maximum operating speed and protects the power source and all moving parts from damage caused by
over-speed. Seek an authorised Garland service if a problem exists.
- Do not transport this machine while the power source is running. Shut off the power source and disconnect the spark plug lead (electric unit disconnect from supply) whenever you leave the work area. Do not tilt the machine while the power source is running.

BEFORE STARTING ENGINE
Oil:
Place the machine on a stable place with the engine level. Unscrew the cap / dipstick and put 20W-40 multigrade oil to the maximum level of the rod (0.6L tank capacity approx.) And screw the cap tightly to prevent leakage.

Oil level control:
WARNING!
RUNNING ENGINE WITH INSUFFICIENT OIL WILL CAUSE SERIOUS ENGINE DAMAGE.
WHEN CHECKING OIL STOP ENGINE AND PLACE IT ON A LEVEL SURFACE.
- Remove dipstick and wipe clean with cloth.
- Replace dipstick back without lock it in. Pull the dipstick out and check the oil level.
- Oil level should be at upper limit on dipstick.
If the oil level is near or below the lower limit mark on the dipstick, add oil slowly and recheck until oil level reaches upper limit of dipstick. DO not overfill.
WARNING!
USING DIRTY OIL OR TWO-STROKE ENGINE OIL WILL SHORTEN ENGINE USEFUL LIFE.
Fuel:
- The engine is certified to operate on unleaded petrol with a minimum of 85 octane. Fresh fuel prevents gum from forming in the fuel system.
- Do not mix oil with petrol.
- Keep dust, water and foreign matter away from fuel system.
- Do not use gasoline which contains Methanol.
WARNING!
GAS IS EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE; IT WILL EXPLODE IF EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.
TURN ENGINE OFF AND LET ENGINE COOL BEFORE REMOivating GAS TANK CAP. ALWAYS ADD FUEL AT WELL-VENTILATED PLACE.
KEEP GASOLINE FROM SPARKS, OPEN FLAMES, HEAT AND OTHER IGNITION SOURCES.
DO NOT OVERFILL FUEL. THE FUEL LEVEL SHOULD BE ALWAYS BELOW THE LOWEST POSITION OF THE FUEL TANK NECK.
CHECK FUEL LINES, TANK, CAP AND FITTINGS FREQUENTLY FOR CRACKS OR LEAKS. REPLACE IF NECESSARY.
PREVENT SKIN FROM FREQUENT CONTACT WITH GASOLINE.
KEEP CHILDREN AND THE FRAIL AT A SAFE DISTANCE DURING REFUELLING.
Adding fuel:
- Remove fuel cap.
- Fill tank to the lowest position of the fuel tank neck.
Do not over fi II:
- Wipe any gasoline that may have spilled.
- Reinstall the fuel cap.
- Fuel tank capacity: 3.6L
