Frequently Asked Questions - Bistro 1070916 BODUM

How to adjust the browning level?
Turn the browning control (A) from 1 (very light) to 5 (very dark) according to your preference. For optimal results, select a lower level if the bread is dry or thin.
How to use the defrost function?
Insert frozen bread, lower the lever (D), then press the defrost button (B) within 2 seconds. The indicator light stays on and the toasting time is automatically extended.
How to stop toasting mid-cycle?
Press the cancel button (C) at any time to immediately interrupt the process.
How to warm rolls or croissants?
Slide the button (G) to deploy the warming rack (F). Place the items on the rack, lower the lever (D) and the toaster will warm them.
How to clean the toaster?
Unplug the appliance and let it cool down. Regularly empty the crumb tray (H) to prevent fire hazards. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and dry it. Never immerse the appliance in water.
What to do if a slice of bread gets stuck?
Never use metal objects. Unplug the appliance and gently turn it upside down over the sink to shake out the bread. If necessary, use a wooden or plastic utensil.
Why is my bread burning?
The browning level is too high or the bread is very dry/thin. Reduce the level (A) and monitor the toasting next time. A 30-second interval between uses allows better regulation.
Can I toast foods wrapped in aluminum foil?
No, this may cause a short circuit or fire. Only insert foods without metallic packaging.
How to store the power cord?
Wind the excess cord into the cord storage under the base of the appliance to avoid tangling.
Where to find spare parts?

HINTS AND TIPS FOR BETTER TOASTING

  • For best results use bread slices of even thickness, size and freshness. Select a lower setting if:
    a) using stale bread (toasts more quickly than fresh bread) b) using thin bread (toasts more quickly than thick bread)
  • To keep items such as muffins, crumpets bagels warm slide the button to lift the rack and put the items at the top.
  • To achieve even browning, we suggest a minimum of 30 seconds between each toasting to allow the control to automatically reset.
  • Never use the toaster without bread inserted.
  • Do not use very thin or broken slices of bread.
  • Do not insert other foods that may drip during the toasting process. As well as making the cleaning procedure more difficult it may be a potential fire hazard. It is also very important to clean the crumb tray before each use.
  • Do not insert (by force) foods that are too big for the slots.
  • Do not insert forks or other utensils into the toaster in order to remove bread, as it may damage the resistance coils of the appliance. Remove the plug from the socket and turn the appliance over, gently shaking it to remove the lodged items.
