How to change the batteries of the Soehnle Food Control Easy 66120 scale?

Open the battery compartment on the back of the scale, remove the used batteries and insert 3 new AAA 1.5 V batteries respecting the indicated polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.

How to perform a simple weighing?

Turn on the scale with the ON button. Wait until the display shows '0'. Place the food on the platform and read the displayed weight.

How to tare the scale with a container?

Place the empty container on the scale, then press the TARE button. The display returns to zero. Then add the food to the container; only the weight of the food is displayed.

How to get the nutritional values of a food?

Weigh the food, then enter the corresponding food code using the numeric keypad (codes are in the provided food table). The nutritional values (kcal, protein, etc.) are displayed automatically.

How to use the totalizer memory?

After each weighing and food code entry, press the M+ button to add the nutritional values to memory. You can accumulate up to 99 weighings. To display the total, press MR.

How to clear the memory?

Press the CLR/MC button to clear the selected food code or the totalizer memory. Make sure you are in 'Ready to weigh' mode (WT displayed).

What to do if the scale displays 'Err' or does not turn on?

Check the battery status: if the low battery icon appears or the scale does not turn on, replace the 3 AAA batteries. Ensure the batteries are inserted correctly.

What is the maximum weighing capacity?

The scale can weigh up to 5,000 g (11 lb) or measure up to 5,000 ml. Do not exceed this load, otherwise 'Err' (overload) is displayed.

How to clean the scale?

Use a damp cloth and mild detergent to clean the surface. Never immerse the scale in water and do not put it in the dishwasher.

1. Proper use

We thank you for your purchase of this device. This nutritional value analysis scale will help you determine the most important nutritional values and components of your foods. This device is not designed for commercial use.

The median values of the nutritional value components of more than 950 foods are stored in your Food Control Easy. The values correspond to the German Federal Food Index Version II. 3 of May 1999 and are based on nutritional value tables for commercially available foods according to nutritional science.

The programmed nutritional values are non-binding parameters. Review whether the used food is labeled with different values or whether other circumstances exist that might indicate a deviation values and would therefore require a correction of these nutritional values. Otherwise, it may lead to health risks or the risk of live-thening malnutrition.

Please read these operating instructions and in particular also the safety information and observe the care instructions so that you will be able to enjoy your nutritional value analysis scale for a long time. Please store these instructions for future use.

2. Safety information

Danger

• Never throw used batteries into open flame. Danger of explosion!
• Never short-circuit batteries!

Warning

• Consult a physician or a diet specialist before reducing your weight.
• In case of wrong operation or incorrect entries the device may provide results which, for people that must maintain a special diet, may lead to malnutrition or health damages.
• Keep the device away from small children.
• Be sure to use the right type of battery. Insert the battery with the pole in the prescribed direction. Always use a fresh battery when replacing the battery and never use batteries with visible damages – this could result in overheating or explosions.
• Always store batteries outside of the reach of children.

Attention

• The individual components of this device may not be disassembled, repaired or modified.
• Batteries contain chemicals. A leakage of these chemicals could result in damages on objects or bodily injuries. If battery acid comes into contact with the eye, immediately rinse the eye with plenty of water and contact a physician.
• Remove the batteries from the device if it is not used for a long time.

4. Start-up operation

1. Insert batteries (3 x 1.5 V size AAA).
2. Place scale on a sturdy, level surface.

The scale is now ready to use.

5. Weighing

1. Switch on using the ON key

2. Wait until "0" is displayed. If "0 g" is not displayed, push TARE key.

3. If required, select the desired weight or volume unit using the

key. Some foods cannot be displayed in volume.

The display will then show "O" ml/fl:oz.

1. The weighing process can now start. Place food to be weighed on the scale and read value.

If a weight is on the scale it will automatically shut down after 8 minutes without any weighing activity (if no load is on the scale, after approx. 4 minutes). The scale can be switched off manually with the ON/OFF key (push for 2 seconds).

If a food has been selected, this selection remains active even after the scale is switched off.

Sensor Touch

A slight touch is sufficient confirmation for the sensor keys.

6. Tare and add-weight function

1. After a container has been placed on the scale, you can tare the scale using the TARE key. If a food to be weighted is then placed on the scale, the display will show only the weight of the food.

2. If several ingredients are to be weighted in one single container, the TARE key must be pressed between the individual ingredients, so that "0" is displayed each time before the next ingredient is added.

1. If the TARE key is pressed once more after the last ingredient and the container is removed from the scale, the total weight (to include the container) is displayed with a negative sign.

2. Please remember that the remaining, usable, maximum load capacity decreases by the tared weight.

7. Determining nutritional values

950 commonly used foods and their nutritional values are stored in the Soehnle Food Control Easy.

In order to display the weight value of a food as well as its nutritional value and to transfer the result to the sum memory, the corresponding food index number from the food table must be entered using the numerical keys.

The nutritional value fields will then display the values for the added weight of the selected food index number.

Our example is 250g butter:

8. Basics of determining nutritional values

Your Food Control Easy has been programmed with the median values of the nutritional components of 950 foods. The values correspond to the German Federal Food Index Version II.3 dated May 1999 and are based on nutritional value tables for com mercially available foods according to nutritional science.

This information is important for persons that are required to maintain specific limits for health reasons (e.g. carbohydrates for diabetics). Furthermore, the components of our food are also interesting for anyone interested in a balanced diet (e. g. within the scope of a weight loss diet).

9. Memory functions

In order to be able to determine the daily amounts or the amounts of a specific recipe, Soehnle Food Control Easy is able to add the determined values (weight and all nutritional values) in a total sum memory.

1. Use the M+ key to add up to 99 weighings to the sum memory.

1. "M" will appear in the display with the respective number of the already stored measurement values. The content of the memory will remain stored even after the scale is switched off.

2. If more than 99 measurement values are transferred to the sum memory, the 99 begin to flash.

3. Use "MR" key to recall the sum of the stored measurement values.

Ensure that your scale is in readiness mode (push key if required) and "WT" is being displayed.

The sum symbol "∑" shows that the values stored in the sum memory are being displayed.

Note: The sum memory only displays nutritional value data, not the total weight.

Batteries should not be disposed with your regular household waste. You, the consumer, are obligated to return used batteries. You can return used batteries to your communal collection points or wherever batteries of the respective type are sold.

13. Disposal of the scale

The symbol on the product or its packaging informs you that this product cannot be regarded as normal household waste, but must be returned to a collection point for recycling electronic and electrical devices. Further information

Note: Extreme electromagnetic influences, e.g. operation of a radio transmitter in the immediate proximity of the device, can influence the measurement results. After removal of the influence, the product will be fully functional again. However, it might be necessary to switch the device off and back on.
