  In the event of improper use or wrong operation, we do not accept any liability for resulting damages.
• The use of accessories and components not expressly recommended by the manufacturer may result in injuries or damages and voids the warranty.
• Never leave the product unsupervised while it is switched on.
• Do not place heavy objects on top of the product.
• Never immerse electrical parts of the product in water during cleaning or operation. Never hold the product under running water.
• Do not under any circumstances attempt to repair the product yourself. For servicing and repairs, please consult an authorised service agent.
• The mains voltage must match the information on the rating label of the

product.

• The power plug is used as the disconnect device. Please be sure that the power plug is in operable condition.
• Only unplug from the power socket can separate the product completely from the mains.
• Avoid damages to the power cord that may be caused by kinks or contact with sharp corners.
• Keep this product including power cord and power plug away from all heat sources like for example, ovens, hot plates and other heat-producing devices/objects.

  In order to reduce the risk of fire

and electric shock, do not expose the product to fire (fireplace, grill, candles, cigarettes and so on) or water (water drops, water splashes, vases, tubs, ponds and so on).

• Warning! Do not use this product near water or heavy moisture; e.g. in a damp basement or beside a swimming pool or bathtub.
• Use this product in temperate latitudes only. Avoid tropical and especially humid climatic regions.
• Protect this product from all moisture including spray water and humidity.
• The product may not come into contact with or be covered by highly flammable materials, such as curtains, textiles, walls, etc. Please make sure that sufficient safety clearance is kept to flammable materials.
• Do not insert any objects into the product.
• This product is not suitable for commercial use. It is designed for household use only.
• Use heat-proof or wooden spatulas with the product to prevent damage to the grill plates' nonstick coating. Make sure that the spatulas used do not have any pointy or sharp edges.
• Do not place the product on hotplates (gas, electric, coal stoves, etc.). Keep the product away from all open flames. Operate the product on an even, stable, clean, fireproof and

dry surface.

• Fire hazard! Bread and other foodstuffs can burn! Do not use bread with a high sugar content since this may cause fire. Never leave the product unattended.
• Risk of burning! Do not touch the product's hot surfaces. Touch the product only by its handle or temperature dial.
  Always use the grease drip tray(s).
• The grill plates and other product parts become very hot. Let the product cool down well before cleaning or storing.

Thanks for your purchase of KOENIC product. Please read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference.

Intended use

This product is suitable for preparing foods only. Any other use may result in damage to product or injuries.

Before first time use

Carefully take the product and its accessories out of the original packaging. Retain the original packaging in case you would like to store the product away or transport it at a later date. If you choose to dispose of the original packaging, then please do so according to the applicable legal regulations. Check the packaging contents for completeness and damages. Should the contents in the packaging not be complete or be damaged, do not use the product. Return it to your retail outlet immediately.

Cleaning and care.

During manufacturing, parts of the product are coated with a thin oil film for their protection. To remove production residue, run the product for ca. 10 minutes without foodstuffs. Make sure there is sufficient ventilation as a slight odor and some smoke may occur. This is harmless and will disappear shortly.

Closed grilling

This position is ideal for fast, double-sided grilling at high temperatures, for example, of rump steaks and hamburgers, as well as for the preparation of sandwiches and paninis.

1. Place this product on a flat, heat resistant, even and non-slip surface.
2. Slide the grease drip tray in the intended position of the contact grill.
3. Open the upper casing by pushing the handle all the way up.
4. Apply a little cooking oil to the upper and lower heating plates and close the upper casing.
5. Connect the power plug to a suitable power outlet.
6. The product turns itself on and the red indicator lamp lights up.
7. Set the control dial Lower and Upper to the desired position. The green and blue indicator lights will light up, indicating that the product is heating up. As soon as the set temperature is reached, the green and blue indicator lights goes out.
8. Open the upper casing by pushing the handle all the way up.

Caution

Hot steam could be emitted when opening and closing the cover. Thus always open the grill carefully.

Note

Suitable foods for grilling are steaks, sausages, vegetables and sandwiches such as toast or baguette (French bread). Lay the grill items onto the lower heating surface without adding extra fat or oil.

The upper casing and the heating plates of the product will become very hot during operation.

1. Lay the grill items onto the lower heating surface without adding extra fat or oil.
2. Close the upper casing and set the desired temperature using the control dial.
3. The grill items are cooked in their own juices and excessive liquids flow into the grease drip tray.
4. In order to remove grilled food, carefully open the upper casing by pushing the handle all the way up.
5. Only use utensils made of heat-resistant plastic or wood to remove the grilled food from the heating plate.
6. After using the product, turn the control dial Lower and Upper to MIN.
7. Unplug the power plug from the power outlet and let the product cool down.

Note

Remember that cooking results will be better if the product is preheated first.

Note

Monitor the cooking process now and then. Grill the food for approx. 3-8 minutes. The cooking time is dependent on the type of food and on your personal tastes. The grill items do not need to be turned over as they are cooked with both the upper and lower grill plates.

Caution

Never touch the hot surfaces of the product during operation or directly after use. Thus to open the product, only touch the handle.

Caution

Depending on the type and quality of the food, it could become very hot during grilling. Foods with a high water content, such as tomatoes, will especially become very hot. So be extremely careful when grilling and especially when removing these types of foods.

Barbecue position (Open grilling)

This position provides a larger surface area for grilling and allows for separated grilling, such as when vegetables and meat are grilled simultaneously. In addition, several people can participate in grilling and can prepare their own food according to their own taste.

1. Place this product on a flat, heat resistant, even and non-slip surface.
2. Slide the grease drip tray in the intended position of the contact grill.
3. Open the upper casing by pushing the handle all the way up.
4. Press the release button while holding the handle.
5. Open the upper casing towards the rear using the handle.
6. By doing so, the handle serves as a stand. Let go of the release button as soon as the upper casing has been pushed all the way back.
7. Connect the power plug to a suitable power outlet.
8. Set the control dial Lower and Upper to the desired position.
9. After using the product, turn the control dial Lower and Upper to MIN.
10. Unplug the power plug from the power outlet and let the product cool down.

Caution

The upper casing will become very hot during operation. Therefore, it is especially important when grilling with the heating plates open to place the product on a fireproof surface. The surface must be level and non-slip.

Note

Oil/fat remains collected with supplied drip tray must not be re-used.

Cleaning and care

Caution

Always unplug the product from the power outlet and let the product cool down.

1. Remove the grease drip tray carefully from the product and rinse it with hot water and a neutral dishwashing detergent. The oil inside the tray can be very hot, let it cool down completely before cleaning.
2. Remove excess grease with a paper towel before detaching the grill plates.
3. To detach the grill plates, push the respective release buttons on the upper and lower housing. Clean the grill plates and the grease drip tray with a soft cloth or sponge and hot water.
4. Use a damp cloth or a soft sponge and warm water with a little dishwashing detergent to clean the product's housing.
5. After each cleaning, dry all surfaces thoroughly before further use of the product.
6. Dry the grill plates and reassemble the product. The grill plates can only be mounted in their respective positions. Check backside for marking UPPER PLATE or LOWER PLATE. Place the back edge of the grill plates in the product and lower them. Push and hold the release button while pushing down the grill plate. Let go of the release button once the grill plate clicks into place.
7. Unfold the product to the barbecue position. Place the back edge of the grill plates in the product and lower them.
