☐ Stand the appliance on a table or flat surface.
☐ Make sure the appliance has cooled down before cleaning and storing it.
☐ Only cook consumable food. Do not place too large pieces of food in the food steamer.
☐ It is absolutely necessary to keep this appliance clean at all times as it comes into contact with food.
☐ Make sure the cord never comes into contact with the hot parts of the appliance.
☐ Never touch the hot parts of the appliance during cooking. The translucent baskets are parts of the appliance with hot surfaces. You must use their side handles when handling them.
☐ Make sure nothing comes into contact with the heating element of the appliance. Only water should be in the tank where the heating element is. Never place food in it.
☐ Never use this appliance without the drip tray.
After use and above all when the water hasn't completely evaporated, wait until the steam stops leaking through the hole on the upper part of the lid, then open the lid carefully in order not to hurt you. Let the water drip into the food steamer. Slightly move the lid so that the steam does not reach your hands or your face. Caution: the condensation on the sides of the different baskets may generate steam and burn you.
☐ Be cautious while transporting your appliance filled with hot food, water or other liquids. It is not recommended to move your appliance when it has not completely cooled down.
☐ Your appliance must never be switched on through an external timer or any kind of separate remote control system.

  • Make sure the appliance is unplugged. Fill water tank with cold water. To do so, pour the water through the filling opening at the handles (see page 4). The amount of water depends on the required cooking time. However, it is very important to respect the minimum and maximum level. Non-observance of this instruction could damage your appliance. Do not add any herbs, spices or other liquid such as wine or broth to the water in the water tank.
  • Place the food in the different steaming baskets. Do not add seasoning, herbs etc. until cooking has been completed.
    • Make sure the heating element protection is fixed properly around the heating element.
  • Then place the drip tray onto the water tank and pile up the steaming baskets, paying attention always to put the biggest basket on the highest level. When you put two steaming baskets on each other, make sure that they fit perfectly. To place the basket correctly, make sure that the 4 small blocks on the bottom side of the top basket are inserted into the 2 small holes on both the left and right side of the bottom basket and then turn the handles of the lower basket upwards until they click. The baskets are then firmly attached to one another. Pay attention during the positioning of the accessories because if they are not placed correctly, steam may escape through the side of your appliance and may burn you.
  • Place the lid on the last basket. DO NOT OPERATE THIS APPLIANCE UNCOVERED - STEAM IS GENERATED DURING USE. To place the lid correctly, make sure that the 4 small blocks on the bottom side of the lid are inserted into the 2 small holes on both the left and right side of the top basket. Press on the lid and turn the handles of the basket upwards to close the lid firmly.
  • Plug in the appliance. The red pilot light will come on.
  • Set the timer by turning the timer knob clockwise to the desired time setting. The green pilot light will come on as well to indicate that the appliance is switched on.
  • When the preset cooking time is elapsed, a bell will ring and the power will be cut off. The maximum quantity of water in the tank of the heating base may generate steam for approximately 90 minutes. When the preset cooking time is longer than 90 minutes, you will have to refill the water tank during use. In order to know if the tank is empty, you will have to check if no more steam is escaping or you can look at the water level indicator on the base. To fill the tank, add cold water as described on page 4, CAUTION: At the beginning of adding water, steam will be produced (its quantity depends on the time the heating base has been switched off). Pay attention not to burn yourself.
  • To check the food, wait until the steam has stopped escaping through the holes on the lid and then turn down the handles of the upper basket to open the cover. Take the lid off slowly, taking care to avoid escaping steam and the condensation. CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE STEAMING BASKET OR THE STEAMING UNIT. Using a long handled utensil, check the food. If the food is not cooked, reset the timer and steam production will start again. However if the steaming unit requires more water, proceed as described on page 4.
  • When the food is cooked, unplug and allow the appliance to cool slightly in order to eliminate all the steam. Disassemble the steaming baskets by turning the handles down. Carefully remove the steaming baskets using oven gloves or another thermal hand protection. DO NOT TOUCH THE STEAMING BASKET OR THE STEAMING UNIT UNTIL THEY HAVE COOLED. Remove the food and add seasonings, if desired.
  • Allow any water to cool before emptying and cleaning.
  • Your appliance is provided with a suitable container for rice and other small food pieces (e.g. semolina) that should not be placed in the translucent baskets because they are pierced.
  • On the bottom of the translucent baskets there are hollow round housings especially conceived to place eggs during cooking.

Hints:

  • When cooking rice, we advise you to cover it with hot water in order to accelerate the cooking process.
  • It is possible to cook food with very different cooking times but this needs frequent operations to take away the food that will be ready. To avoid this, it is recommended to prepare food with similar cooking time.
    • Frozen food does not need to be defrosted, but its cooking time will be longer.

LUNCH BOX/STORAGE IN REFRIGERATOR

  • The translucent baskets can be conveniently removed from the steamer base and be used as a lunch box or for storage in the refrigerator for consumption at a later time.
  • Use the bottom plastic ring and the lid to seal a translucent basket in order to avoid letting air in or spilling food.
  • Attach the plastic ring to the bottom of the translucent basket. Turn the handles of the plastic ring upwards until you hear a click.
  • Put the lid on top of the translucent basket. Turn the handles of the basket upwards until you hear a click.
  • CAUTION: If the contents of the baskets are heavy, it is recommended to take them by the bottom side as well to secure a steady grip.

TRANSPORTATION

• The carrying handles allow you to carry the translucent baskets around easily.
- Attach the lid & bottom plastic ring to a translucent basket.
- Pull the carrying handles on top of the lid upwards and use them to carry the translucent basket.
- CAUTION: If the contents of the baskets are heavy, it is recommended to take them by the bottom side as well to secure a steady grip.
