What types of batteries can I charge with the VL1237?

This charger is designed only for NiMH rechargeable batteries of type R6 (AA) and R03 (AAA). Do not charge alkaline, lithium, or other batteries.

How do I install batteries in the charger?

Place the batteries in the connectors respecting polarity (+/-). The charger can charge 2 or 4 batteries of the same type and identical capacity. Use the selector [D] to choose the number.

What do the LED colors mean?

Red: charging in progress. Green: batteries fully charged (charger switches to trickle charge mode). Yellow: discharge cycle in progress.

Can I charge batteries of different capacities?

No, it is essential to only charge batteries of the same type and identical capacity to avoid any risk of overheating or damage.

How do I use the discharge function?

Press the [B] button to start discharge. The LED turns yellow. Press again to stop; normal charging resumes. This function helps reduce the memory effect.

What is the charging time?

Refer to the table on page 3 of the manual. As a guide, 2000 mAh AA NiMH batteries charge in approximately 4 to 6 hours.

Can I use the charger in a car?

Yes, thanks to the included cigarette lighter plug. Plug it into a 12 V DC (max. 13.8 V) socket in your vehicle.

How do I choose the appropriate mains adapter?

Select the plug corresponding to your country: UK (United Kingdom, Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore), EU (Europe, Middle East), AF (Americas, Japan) or SAA (Australia, New Zealand, China). Slide it onto the charger.

Does the charger stop automatically?

Yes, the charger switches to trickle charge mode when the batteries are full, maintaining a minimum voltage. A safety timer prevents overcharging.

What should I do if the LED does not light up?

Check the mains or cigarette lighter connection, as well as the battery polarity. Make sure you have selected the correct number of batteries. If the problem persists, contact your dealer.

6. Operation

• Choose the mains adapter plug, depending on the location of usage.
• Slide the adapter plug in the back of the charger until it snaps into place (refer to the picture on page 2 of this manual), or plug the connector of the included car cable in connector [C].
• Plug the charger in the mains or plug the cigar lighter plug in the car receptacle. The status LED [A] flashes once (red).
• Select the number of batteries to be charged with the selector [D].

• Insert the batteries in the charger. When charging only 2 batteries, these batteries must be inserted in the 2 slots on the left.

Only charge 2 or 4 batteries simultaneously, the charger will not work with 1 or 3 batteries inserted.

Only charge batteries of the same type with the same capacity simultaneously.

Do not attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries!

• After inserting the batteries, fast charging mode starts. An indication of the expected charging times is given in table 1 on page 3 of this manual.
  During charging, the status LED [A] will be red.
• When batteries are fully charged, the status LED [A] turns green.
• When batteries are full or the predetermined charging time (6h) expires, the charger goes in maintenance mode. A small current maintains the voltage level of the batteries (see table 2 on page 3).
• To discharge the batteries, press on the discharge button [B]. The status LED [A] turns yellow during discharge mode. Pressing again on the discharge button [B] will interrupt the discharge process and continue the normal charging of the batteries.
• When batteries are completely discharged, the status LED [A] will turn red and the fast charge process start.
• When batteries are full or the charger is not in use, disconnect the charger from the mains or car cigar plug. Remove the batteries from the charger.
• To remove the adapter plug, press on the lock-button on the back of the unit and slide the plug away from the adapter (refer to the picture on page 2).
