Be safe
You need clean fresh air - so does your cooker. Burner flames produce exhaust gases, heat and moisture. Make sure that the kitchen is well ventilated: keep natural ventilation holes open or install a powered cooker hood that vents outside. If you have several burners on or use the cooker for a long time, open a window or turn on an extractor fan. For more detail see the Installation Instructions.
We recommend you read the 'General Safety Instructions' section if you have not used a gas cooker before.
We describe some basic guidelines on how to use a gas cooker safely.
Gas and Electricity on
Make sure that the gas supply is turned on and that the electricity supply is connected and switched on. The cooker needs electricity.
Peculiar smells
When you first use your cooker it may give off a slight odour. This should stop after a little use.
Hotplate Burners
Some models have a glass lid over the hotplate. If it is not open, lift it up at the front.
There is a safety device that cuts off the gas to the hotplate when the lid is closed - but don't use this to turn the burners off.
The drawing by each knob indicates which burner that knob controls. Each burner has a special safety device that stops the flow of gas if the flame goes out.
Push in and turn the knob to the large flame symbol.

natural_image
Simple diagram with a circle, arrow, and flame symbols (no text or labels)this instruction covers a range of models with different control knobs - the pictures are only diagrammatic.
Keep holding the knob pressed in. This lets gas through to the burner.

natural_image
Simple graphic with a graduation cap inside a circle, flanked by two flame icons (no text or symbols)Press the igniter button or light with a match. Keep pressing the control knob in for about 10 seconds
If, when you let go of the control knob, the burner goes out, the safety device has not held in. Turn off the control to the off position and wait one minute, then try again this time holding in the control knob for slightly longer.
Adjust the flame height to suit by turning the knob. The small flame symbol marks the lowest setting.

natural_image
Simple diagram with a circle and curved arrows, no text or symbols presentPans and kettles with concave bases or down turned base rims should not be used.
Simmering aids, such as asbestos or mesh mats, are NOT recommended. They will reduce burner performance and could damage the pan supports.
The minimum pan diameter recommended is 120mm. The maximum pan base diameter is 250mm, large pans should be spaced well apart.
The 3 ring Wok burner (some models only) is designed to provide even heat over a large area. It is ideal for large pans and stir-frying. For heating smaller pans the smaller burners may be more efficient.
Griddle
The griddle fits a single pan support, front to back. It is designed for cooking food on directly. Don't use pans of any kind on it. The griddle surface is non-stick and metal cooking utensils (e.g. spatulas) will damage the surface. Use heat resistant plastic or wooden utensils.
Position the griddle over the hotplate burners resting on a pan support.
Don't put it crossways - it will not fit properly and will be unstable.
Don't put it on the Wok burner or High burner (right hand hotplate) - it is not designed to fit the High burner pan support.
The griddle can be lightly brushed with cooking oil before use. Light the hotplate burners. Adjust the flame heights to suit.
Preheat the griddle for a maximum of 5 minutes before adding food. Leaving it longer may cause damage. Turn the heat down by turning the control knobs towards the lower position marked with the small flame symbol.
Always leave space around the griddle for the gases to escape. Never fit two griddles side by side.
After cooking allow the griddle to cool before cleaning.
Grill
Caution: Accessible parts may be hot when the grill is in use. Young children should be kept away.
After placing your food on the grill tray pan, slide the grill pan onto the side supports. Make sure it is pushed right in and touches the backstop. The grill has two heating elements, which allow either the whole area of the pan to be heated or only the right hand half of the grill pan to be heated.
Turn the knob to position 3.
For best results preheat for 2 minutes with the grill pan in position. After placing your food on the grill pan grid, slide the grill pan onto the side supports. Adjust the grill to suit by turning the knob.
Never close the grill door when the grill is on.
The grill pan grid can be turned over to give two grilling positions.
Don't leave the grill on for more than a few moments, without the grill pan underneath it.
Ovens
Both ovens are fanned ovens. The fan circulates hot air continuously which results in faster heat transfer to the food.
Before using for the first time, heat the oven to 200^ C for 30 minutes to dispel manufacturing odours.
Turn the oven knob to the temperature you need. The oven indicator light will glow until the oven has reached the temperature you selected. It will then cycle on and off during cooking. When cooking foods with high water content (e.g. oven chips) there may be some steam visible at the grille at the rear of the hot-plate. This is perfectly normal.
Both ovens have a fan only setting (* The fan circulates air inside the oven but the heating element is not turned on. This setting is useful for defrosting frozen foods.
Whole chickens and large joints of meat should be defrosted in the refrigerator. Do not defrost in a warm oven or whilst the adjoining oven is hot.
The wire shelves should always be pushed firmly to the back of the oven.
Baking trays meat tins etcetera should be placed level centrally on the oven's wire shelves. Keep all trays and containers away from the sides of the oven, to allow the hot air to circulate.
For even browning, the maximum recommended size of a baking tray is 325mm by 305mm for the main oven and 230mm by 320mm for the Tall oven.
Cooking high moisture content foods can create a 'steam burst', when the oven door is opened. When opening the oven stand well back and allow any steam to disperse.
When the oven is on, don't leave the door open for longer than necessary, otherwise the knobs may get very hot.
Always leave a ‘fingers width’ between dishes on the same shelf. This allows the heat to circulate freely around them.
The Cook & Clean oven liners in the Main Oven (see 'Cleaning your cooker' section) work better when fat splashes are avoided. Cover meat when cooking.
To reduce fat splashing when you add vegetables to hot fat around a roast, dry them thoroughly or brush lightly with cooking oil.
The Main Oven shelves
The oven shelves can be easily removed and refitted.
Pull the shelf forward until the back of the shelf is stopped by the shelf stop bumps in the oven sides.

natural_image
Pure schematic diagram of a mechanical or electrical component with no text, numbers, or symbolsLift up the front of the shelf so the back of the shelf will pass under the shelf stop and then pull the shelf forward.

The Handyrack

natural_image
Line drawing of a microwave oven with a grater inside (no text or symbols)The Handyrack fits to the left hand oven door only. The maximum weight that can be held by the Handyrack is 5.5kg. It should only be used with the supplied meat tin, which is designed to fit the Handyrack. Any other vessel could be unstable.
When the Handyrack is used in its highest position, other dishes can be cooked on the bottom shelf position of the oven.
When the Handyrack is used in its lowest position, other dishes can be cooked on the second shelf position of the oven.
To fit the Handyrack, locate one side of it on the door bracket.

Then spring the other side out to clip it onto the other bracket.

To start and stop the oven automatically
Before you set the clock, you must have two numbers clearly in mind.
The 'cook period', which is the period of time you want the oven to cook.
The 'stop time', which is the time of day you want the oven to stop cooking.
You cannot set a start time directly - this is set automatically by setting the cooking period and stop time.
Press and hold as shown below.

text_image
0:20At the same time press (-) or (+) until your required 'cook period' shows.
Then press and hold as shown below.

text_image
14:20! -At the same time press (-) or (+) until your required 'stop time' shows.
AUTO will show in the display.
Set the oven to the required temperature. When your cooking is finished the beeper sounds. TURN THE OVEN KNOB TO THE OFF POSITION FIRST, then press (once to stop the beep, press again to return to manual cooking.
If you are out, don't worry about the beeper going off, it stops after a while. When you return, TURN THE OVEN KNOB TO 0 FIRST, then press ( twice, to return to manual cooking.
AUTO is showing, you want to reset to manual cooking.
When cancelling an automatic setting, any cooking time already set must be returned to 0.00 before you can return to manual, by pressing the (button.
Cooking using the timer
The timer can be used to turn just one oven or both on and off automatically. The start and stop time must be the same for both ovens but different cooking temperatures can be set.
If you want to turn one of the ovens on at the same time as the timer is set for automatic cooking, you must wait until the timer has turned on the oven/ovens first. Then you can adjust either of them manually in the normal way.
You can set the oven to turn on any time over the following 24 hour period. If you want to cook more than one dish, choose dishes that require approximately the same time. However, dishes can be 'slowed down' slightly by using small containers and covering them with aluminium foil, or 'speeded up' slightly by cooking smaller quantities or placing in larger containers.
Very perishable foods such as pork or fish should be avoided if a long delay period is planned, especially in hot weather.
Don't place warm food in the oven.
Don't use an oven already warm.
Don't use if an adjoining oven is warm.
Avoid using wine or beer if there is a delay period, as fermentation may take place.
To avoid curdling, cream should be added to dishes just before serving.
Fresh vegetables, which may discolour during a delay period, should be coated in melted fat or immersed in a water and lemon juice solution.
Fruit pies, custard tarts or similar wet mixtures on top of uncooked pastry are only satisfactory if there is a short delay period. Dishes containing leftover cooked meat or poultry should not be cooked automatically if there is a delay period.
Whole poultry must be thoroughly defrosted before placing in the oven.
Check that meat and poultry are fully cooked before serving.
Cleaning your cooker
Before thorough cleaning, isolate the electricity supply. Remember to switch on the electricity supply before use.
Never use paint solvents, washing soda, caustic cleaners, biological powders, bleach, chlorine based bleach cleaners, coarse abrasives or salt. Don't mix different cleaning products - they may react together with hazardous results.
If you want to move your cooker for cleaning, see the section called 'Moving your cooker'.
All parts of the cooker can be cleaned with hot soapy water - but take care that no surplus water seeps into the appliance.
Hotplate burners
Some models have a separate trim ring, which fits on the burner head.
The burner heads and caps can be removed for cleaning. Make sure they are absolutely dry before replacing.
Griddle
Always clean the griddle after use. Allow it to cool completely before removing. Immerse the griddle plate in hot soapy water. Use a soft cloth or, for stubborn stains, a nylon washing up brush.
NEVER USE CAUSTIC OR ABRASIVE CLEANERS AS THESE WILL DAMAGE THE SURFACE.
Grill
The grill pan and grid should be washed in hot soapy water. After grilling meats or any foods that soil, leave to soak for a few minutes in the sink immediately after use. Stubborn particles may be removed from the grid by using a nylon brush.
Control Panel and Oven Doors
Avoid using any abrasive cleaners including cream cleaners, on brushed Stainless Steel surfaces. For best results liquid detergents should be used.
The control panel and control knobs should only be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung out in clean hot soapy water - but take care that no surplus water seeps into the appliance. Wipe with a clean dampened cloth then
polish with a dry cloth. The oven doors should only be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung out in clean hot soapy water.
Main Oven
The main oven has removable panels that have been coated with special enamel that partly cleans itself.
This does not stop all marks on the lining, but helps to reduce the amount of manual cleaning needed.
The Cook & Clean panels work better above 200^ C. If you do most of your cooking below this temperature, occasionally remove the panels and wipe with a lint free cloth and hot soapy water. The panels should then be dried and replaced and the oven heated at 200^ C for about one hour. This will ensure the Cook & Clean panels are working effectively.
Don't use steel wool (or any other materials that will scratch the surface). Don't use oven cleaning pads.
Removing the Oven Linings
Some of the lining panels can be removed for cleaning and for cleaning behind. Remove the shelves first.
Slide the roof liner forward and remove.
Each side of the oven is fixed with four fixing screws. You don't have to remove the screws to remove the oven linings. Lift each side panel upwards and they will slide off the screws. Then pull them forwards.
Once the linings are removed, the oven enamel interior can be cleaned.
When replacing the linings fit the side linings first.
Make sure you fit the oven roof with the slot at the front.
The Tall Oven
To clean the oven sides slide out the shelves, unhook the supports from the oven sides and lift out.

Moving your cooker
Switch off the electricity supply.
The cooker is heavy, two people may be required to move it. There are two levelling rollers at the back and also two screw down levelling feet at the front.
Open the grill door and right hand oven door so that you can get a good grip on the bottom of the fascia panel as you move the oven. Lift the front of the cooker slightly and pull forward.
Do not move the oven by pulling the door handles or knobs.

natural_image
Illustration of a person pushing a cart with arrows indicating upward and downward motion (no text or symbols)Move the oven a bit at a time, checking behind it to make sure the gas hose is not caught. Make sure both electricity and gas cables have sufficient slack to move the cooker forward as you go along.
If a stability chain is fitted, release it as you ease the cooker out. Don't forget to refit it when you replace the cooker.
When you replace the cooker, again check behind to make sure that the electricity and gas cables are not caught or trapped.
Troubleshooting
Steam is coming from the oven
When cooking foods with a high water content (e.g. oven chips) there may be some steam visible at the rear grille. Take care when opening the oven door, as there may be a momentary puff of steam when the oven door is opened. Stand well back and allow any steam to disperse.
The oven fan is noisy
The note of the oven fan may change as the oven heats up - this is perfectly normal.
The knobs get hot when I use the oven or the grill, can I avoid this?
Yes, this is caused by heat rising from the oven or the grill, and heating them up. Don't leave the oven door open. Make sure that the grill pan is pushed right back to the 'back stop' when grilling.
If there is an installation problem and I don't get my original installer to come back to fix it who pays?
You do. Service organisations will charge for their call outs if they are correcting work carried out by your original installer. It's in your interest to track down your original installer.
Current Operated Earth Leakage Breakers
Where the cooker installation is protected by a 30 milliamp sensitivity residual current device (RCD), the combined use of your cooker and other domestic appliances may occasionally cause nuisance tripping. In these instances the cooker circuit may need to be protected by fitting 100mA device. This work should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Food is cooking too slowly, too quickly, or burning
Cooking times may differ from your previous oven. Individual tastes may require the temperature to be altered either way, to get the results you want. Try cooking at a higher or lower temperature setting.
The oven is not cooking evenly
Do not use a tin or tray larger than the baking tray we supply (320mm x 305mm).
If you are cooking a large item, be prepared to turn it round during cooking.
If two shelves are used, check that space has been left for the heat to circulate. When the baking tray is put into the oven, make sure it is placed centrally on the shelf.
Check that the door seal is not damaged and that the door catch adjusted so that the door is held firmly against the seal.
NB the seal on the left hand oven door is intended to have a gap at the bottom of the door
A dish of water when placed on the shelf should be the same depth all over. (For example, if it is deeper at the back, then the back of the cooker should be raised up or the front lowered). If the cooker is not level arrange for your supplier to level it for you.
Oven not coming on when turned on manually
Is the power on? Is the clock illuminated? If not there may be something wrong with the power supply. Is the cooker supply on at the isolator switch? Is the clock flashing 0.00? If so set it to the correct time of day. Has the Timer been set to AUTO by mistake? If AUTO is showing on the clock display, press the 'cook period' button and reduce any set cooking time showing to 0.00, with the (+) and (-) buttons. Press the (☐) button twice. If this does not solve the problem contact a service person.
Oven not coming on when automatic cooking
Timer set correctly but oven knob left OFF by mistake?
Oven temperature getting hotter as the cooker gets older
If turning the knob down has not worked or only worked for a short time then you may need a new thermostat. This should be fitted by a service person.
Grill not cooking properly
Are you using the pan and trivet supplied with the cooker? Is the pan being used on the runners, not the floor of the compartment? Is the grill tray pushed fully back to stop?
The oven light is not working
The bulb has probably blown. You can buy a replacement bulb (which is not covered under the guarantee) from a good electrical shop. Ask for an Edison screw fitting 15w 240v lamp, FOR OVENS. It must be a special bulb, heat resistant to 300°C.
Open the oven door and remove the Handyrack (if fitted) and oven shelves.
Turn off the power supply.
Unscrew the bulb cover by turning anticlockwise. Unscrew the old bulb. Screw in the new bulb. Screw on the bulb cover. Turn on the electricity supply and check that the bulb now lights.
Hotplate ignition or hotplate burners faulty
Is the power on? Is the clock illuminated? If not there maybe something wrong with the power supply.
Are the sparker (ignition electrode) or burner slots blocked by debris?
Is the burner trim correctly located?
Are the burner caps correctly located?
See the section entitled 'Cleaning your cooker'
Check that there is not a problem with your gas supply. You can do this by making sure that other gas appliances you may have are working.
Do the burners spark when you push the button? If not check the power is on - is the clock illuminated?
Power failure
In the event of a failure in the electrical supply the hotplate may be lit using a match.
General Safety Instructions
This appliance must be installed by a competent person in accordance with the installation instructions. The installation must comply with the relevant regulations and also the local electricity supply company requirements
If you smell gas
Don't turn electric switches on or off.
Don't smoke
Don't use naked flames
Do turn off the gas at the meter or cylinder
Do open doors and windows to get rid of the gas
Call your gas supplier.
This appliance is designed for domestic cooking only. Use for any other purpose could invalidate any warranty or liability claim.
The use of a gas cooking appliance results in the production of heat and moisture in the room in which it is installed. Ensure that the kitchen is well ventilated: keep natural ventilation holes open or install a mechanical ventilation device, (mechanical extractor hood).
Prolonged intensive use of the appliance may call for additional ventilation, for example opening a window, or more effective ventilation, for example increasing the level of mechanical ventilation where present.
The cooker must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the installation instructions. It should be serviced by a qualified service engineer and only approved spare parts used. Have the installer show you the location of the cooker control switch. Mark it for easy reference. Always allow the cooker to cool and then switch off at the mains and before cleaning or carrying out any maintenance work, unless specified otherwise in this guide.
All parts of the cooker become hot with use and will retain heat even after you have stopped cooking.
Take care when touching cooker. To minimize the possibility of burns, always check that the controls are in the OFF position and that it is cool before attempting to clean the cooker.
Use dry oven gloves when applicable - using damp gloves might result in steam burns when you touch a hot surface. Never operate the cooker with wet hands.
Do not use a towel or other bulky cloth in place of a glove. They might catch fire if they touch a hot surface.
Clean with caution. If a wet sponge or cloth is used to wipe spills on a hot surface, be careful to avoid steam burns. Some cleansers can produce noxious fumes if applied to a hot surface.
Do not use unstable saucepans and position the handles away from the edge of the hotplate.
Babies, toddlers and young children should not be allowed near the cooker at any time. They should never be allowed to sit or stand on any part of the appliance. Teach them not to play with controls or any other part of the cooker.
Never store anything of interest to children in cabinets above a cooker - children climbing on the cooker to reach them could be seriously injured.
Clean only parts listed in this guide.
In the interests of hygiene and safety the cooker should be kept clean at all times as a build up in fats and other food stuff could result in a fire.
Always keep combustible wall coverings or curtains etc. a safe distance away from your cooker.
Do not spray aerosols in the vicinity of the cooker while it is in on.
Do not store or use combustible materials, or flammable liquids in the vicinity of this appliance.
Do not use water on grease fires. Never pick up a flaming pan. Turn the controls off. Smother a flaming pan by covering the pan completely with a well fitting lid or baking tray. Use a multipurpose dry chemical or foam-type fire extinguisher, if available.
Never leave the hob unattended at high heat settings. Pans boiling over can cause smoking and greasy spills may catch on fire.
English
Never wear loose-fitting or hanging clothes while using the appliance. Be careful when reaching for items stored in cabinets over the hotplate. Flammable material could be ignited if brought in contact with a hot surface unit and may cause severe burns.
Take great care when heating fats and oils, as they will ignite if they get too hot.
Use a deep fat thermometer whenever possible to prevent overheating fat beyond the smoking point.
Never leave a chip pan unattended. Always heat fat slowly, and watch as it heats. Deep fry pans should be only one third full of fat. Filling the pan too full of fat can cause spill over when food is added. If you use a combination of oils or fats in frying, stir them together before heating, or as the fats melt.
Foods for frying should be as dry as possible. Frost on frozen foods or moisture on fresh foods can cause hot fat to bubble up and over the sides of the pan. Carefully watch for spills or overheating of foods when frying at high or medium high temperatures. Never try to move a pan of hot fat, especially a deep fat fryer. Wait until the fat is cool.
When the grill is on, do not use the top of the flue (the slot along the back of the cooker) for warming plates, dishes, drying tea towels or softening butter.
When using an electrical appliance near the hob, make sure that the cord of the appliance does not come into contact with the hotplate.
Take care that no water seeps into the appliance
Only certain types of glass, glass-ceramic, earthenware or other glazed containers are suitable for hotplate cooking; others may break because of the sudden change in temperature. Do not allow anyone to climb, stand or hang on any part of the cooker.
Do not use aluminium foil to cover shelves, linings or the oven roof.
Make sure that your kitchen is well ventilated at all times. Use extractor fans or hoods when fitted.
Never heat unopened food containers. Pressure build up may make container burst and cause injury.
The cooker is designed for cooking foods only and must not be used for any other purpose.
The oven should NOT be used for heating the kitchen, not only does this waste fuel but the control knobs may become overheated.
When the oven is on DO NOT leave the oven door open for longer than necessary.
The specification of this cooker should not be altered.
This appliance is heavy, take care when moving it.
When the cooker is not in use ensure that the control knobs are in the off position.

Before installation, ensure that cooker is suitable for your gas type and supply voltage. See the data badge. This appliance can be converted for use on other gases.
Install in a well-ventilated space.
Provision of Ventilation
This appliance is not connected to a combustion products evacuation device. It shall be installed and connected in accordance with current installation regulations. Particular attention shall be given to the relevant requirements regarding ventilation.
Local regulations regarding ventilation must be adhered to but as a minimum:
All rooms require an openable window or equivalent, while some rooms require a permanent vent in addition to the openable window. The cooker should not be installed in a bedsitting room with volume less than 20m^3 . If it is installed in a room of volume less than 5m^3 an air vent of effective area 100cm^2 is required; if it is installed in a room of volume between 5m^3 and 10m^3 , an air vent of effective area 50cm^2 is required; while if the volume exceeds 11m^3 , no air vent is required. However, if the room has a door that opens directly to the outside, no air vent is required even when the room volume is between 5m^3 and 10m^3 . If there are other fuel burning appliances in the same room, more ventilation may be required.
Location of Cooker
The cooker may be installed in a kitchen/kitchen diner but NOT in a room containing a bath or shower.
NOTE:
An appliance for use on Liquid Petroleum Gas must not be installed in a room or internal space below ground level e.g. in a basement.
You will need the following equipment to complete the cooker installation satisfactorily
Stability Bracket
If the cooker is to be supplied with gas through a flexible hose, a stability bracket or chain must be fitted. The cooker manufacture does not supply these.
Gas Pressure Tester
Flexible Gas Hose
Must be in accordance with the relevant standards.
Multimeter
(for electrical checks)
Positioning the Cooker
The diagrams show the minimum recommended distance from the cooker to nearby surfaces.
The hotplate surround should be level with, or above, any adjacent work surface. Above hotplate level a gap of 75mm should be left between each side of the cooker and any adjacent vertical surface.
English
For non-combustible surfaces (such as unpainted metal or ceramic tiles) this can be reduced to 25mm.
A minimum space of 650mm is required between the top of the hotplate and a horizontal combustible surface.
Any cooker hood should be installed in accordance with the hood manufacturer's instructions.
For safety reasons curtains must not be fitted immediately behind the cooker.
We recommend a gap of 910mm between units to allow for moving the cooker. If a flush fit is required, fit the cooker up to the unit at one side then fit the unit the other side.
A clearance of 130mm is required if the cooker is near a corner of the kitchen to allow the oven doors to open.
Unpacking the Cooker
Do not take any packaging off the cooker until it is directly in front of the place it is to be installed (unless it will not fit through a door in its outer packaging).
Cut the banding straps and lift the cardboard box off the cooker, leaving the cooker standing on the base packaging. See the loose unpacking sheet.
Levelling
You are recommended to use a spirit level on a shelf in one of the ovens to check for level.
Place the cooker in its intended position taking care not to twist it within the gap between the kitchen units as damage may occur to the cooker or the units.
The front feet and rear rollers can be adjusted to level the cooker. To adjust the height of the rear of the cooker use the levelling tool supplied to turn the adjusting nuts at the front bottom corners of the cooker.

natural_image
Technical line drawing of a mechanical assembly with springs and bolts (no text or symbols)To set the front feet turn the bases to raise or lower.
Fit the Handles (some models only)
Remove the 4mm Allen screws from the doors with the hexagon key tool. Use the screws to fit the door handles.
The handles should be above the fixings.
Remove the 4mm Allen screws from the top corners of the fascia and fix the front handrail in position.
Fitting the splash back (optional - some models only)
Remove the two fixing screws (3mm hexagonal socket head) and nuts that pass through the top of the rear flue grille. Hold the splash back in position. From the rear refit the 2 fixing screws and nuts.
Restraining device
A restraining device should be fitted when the cooker is connected to a flexible gas supply. The cooker manufacture does not supply these. Any restraining device should be secured to the fabric of the building and should be able to be released so that the cooker can be pulled out for cleaning and maintenance.
Gas Connection
A gas shut off valve must be fitted between the gas supply and the connection hose. The flexible hose (not supplied with the cooker) must be in accordance with the relevant standards. If in doubt contact, your supplier.
The rear cover boxes limit the position of the supply point. The house gas supply needs to terminate with a down facing connection.
The appliance connection is located just below hotplate level at the rear of the cooker.
The hose should be fitted so that both inlet and outlet connections are vertical so that the hose hangs downwards in a 'U' shape.
Because the height of the cooker can be adjusted and each connection is different it is difficult to give precise dimensions. Ideally the house supply connection should be in the shaded area shown in the figure showing the back of the cooker.
After completing the gas connection, check the cooker is gas sound with a pressure test. When checking for gas leaks do not use washing up liquid - this can corrode. Use a product specifically manufactured for leak detection.

Pressure testing
The gas pressure can be measured at the injector of one of the Left Hand hotplate burners. Remove the pan support, burner head and cap. The injector is now accessible.
See Technical data section at the back of this book for test pressures.
Reassemble burner top, making sure it is reassembled in the correct way on the burner body.
Electrical Connection
This appliance must be installed by a qualified electrician to comply with the relevant regulations and also the local electricity supply company requirements.
WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
Note
The cooker must be connected to the correct electrical supply as stated on the voltage label on the cooker, through a suitable cooker control unit incorporating a double pole switch having a contact separation of at least 3mm in all poles. This cooker must not be connected to an ordinary domestic power point.
The total electrical load of the appliance is approximately 7.4kW. The cable size used should be suitable for this load and comply with all local requirements.
Access to the mains terminal is gained by removing the electrical terminal cover box on the back panel.
Connect the mains cable to the correct terminals for your electrical supply type.

Current Operated Earth Leakage Breakers
Where the installation is protected by a 30 milliamp sensitivity residual current device (RCD), the combined use of your cooker and other domestic appliances may occasionally cause nuisance tripping. In these instances the cooker circuit may need to be protected by fitting 100mA device. This work should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Hotplate
Check each burner in turn. There is a flame safety device that stops the flow of gas to the burner if the flame goes out. For each burner, turn the control knob to the large flame symbol. Press in the control knob. This lets gas through to the burner. Keep holding the knob pressed in and press the igniter button or light with a match. Keep holding the control knob pressed in for about 10 seconds.
If when you let go of the control knob the burner goes out, the safety device has not held in. Wait one minute then try again this time holding the control pressed in for slightly longer.
Grill
Open the grill compartment door. Turn on the grill control and check that the grill heats up.
Oven check
The clock must be set to the time of day before the ovens will work.
See the 'The clock' section for how to set the time fo day.
At the same time, press - or + until the correct time shows.
Don't forget it's a 24-hour clock.
If you make a mistake or press the wrong button, turn off the power supply for a minute or two and start again.
Turn on the oven and check that the oven fan starts to turn and that the oven starts to heat up. Turn off the oven.
