Frequently Asked Questions - BL329 ALECTO

What types of batteries can I use with the Alecto BL329 charger?
The charger is designed for rechargeable batteries of type NiCd and NiMH in sizes AA (LR6) and AAA (LR03). Do not use alkaline batteries or other non-rechargeable types.
How many batteries can I charge at once?
You can charge 2 or 4 batteries simultaneously. Use the switch in position '2' for two batteries (placed in the left compartments) or position '4' for four batteries.
How to start charging?
Insert the batteries, set the switch to '2' or '4', then plug in the mains adapter or the 12V cable. The DISCHARGE/CHARGE LED lights up red, indicating the start of fast charging.
What to do if the red LED does not light up?
First check that the wall outlet is live and the adapter is properly connected. If the problem persists, clean the charger and battery contacts, or make sure the batteries are placed correctly (respecting polarity).
How to use the Refresh function?
Set the switch to the center position (REFRESH). The yellow LED lights up. After it turns off, you can start charging normally. This function fully discharges the batteries to combat memory effect on NiCd batteries.
What does each LED color mean?
Red: fast charging in progress. Yellow: discharge or refresh in progress. Green: trickle charge (batteries maintained at full charge).
Why do my batteries get hot during charging?
During fast charging, a high current (800 mA for AA) flows through the batteries, which can heat them up to 65°C. This is normal. Do not cover the charger during use.
Can the charger be used in a car?
Yes, use the supplied 12V cable with cigarette lighter plug. Plug it into your vehicle's 12V socket. Do not use it with a non-supplied adapter.
What to do if the yellow refresh LED does not light up?
Make sure the switch is in the center position (REFRESH). Also check the proper contact of the batteries and their orientation. If the LED remains off, clean the contacts.
How to know when the batteries are fully charged?
The charger automatically switches to trickle charge mode once the batteries are full. The LED then turns green. The batteries are maintained at their optimal capacity.
