USER MANUAL BS 980 CB BOMANN
General Safety Instructions Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.
- The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fi t for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors (except if it is designed to be used outdoors). Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately. .
- When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull on the plug, not the cable) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
- Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you should leave the workplace, always switch the machine off or remove the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead).
- Check the appliance and the cable for damage on a regular basis. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged.
- Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by a qualifi ed person and with a cable of the same type.
- Use only original spare parts.

- In order to ensure your children‘s safety, please keep all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene etc.) out of their reach. Caution! Do not allow small children to play with the foil as there is a danger of suffocation!
- In order to protect children or frail individuals from the ha- zards of electrical equipment, please ensure that this device is only used under supervision. This device is not a toy. Do not allow small children to play with it.

- Do not suck up liquids!
- Do not suck up hot ashes or pointed or sharp objects!
- Do not use the appliance in humid rooms!
- Never use without the fi lter. Check that the fi lter is inserted correctly!
- Keep hair, clothing and body parts away from the vacuum nozzle during use!
- Keep the vacuum cleaner away from sources of heat like radiators, ovens, etc.! - Insert the connection head of the suction hose into the hose connector until it locks in place. To do so, please press the buttons simultaneously. In order to release the hose again, please press the buttons once more on the connection head.
- Keep the buttons pressed down and then pull out the hose.
- Insert the vacuum tube into the handle if required. Using the Appliance
1. Fit on the accessory.
2. Insert the mains plug into a correctly installed safety socket
(230 V, 50 Hz) and then switch the machine on using the on/off switch (7).
3. Set the vacuum power with the vacuum power regulator (4).
4. Vacuum at a steady speed. There is no need to exert
pressure. NOTE: Pay attention to the range that can be covered with the cable length. Cable winding device
- Pull out the cable up to the maximum length indicated with the yellow mark.

Winding Press the cable winding button and guide the cable. Hold the cable to avoid wrapping. Telescope Vacuum Pipe
- The height-adjustable vacu- um pipe enables individual alignment to your height.
- Unlock the coupling by pres- sing the key in the direction of the arrow.
- Slide the vacuum pipe to the desired length.
- To lock the device, release the key until you hear it lock in place. Nozzle accessories Groove and brush nozzle: For vacuuming upholstery, cur- tains and in corners and crevices etc. „2-in-1“ nozzle: When this is folded together it can be used as a groove nozzle. If you would like to use the brush nozzle, pull the brush section in the direction of the arrow until it locks in place. Upholstery nozzle: For cleaning upholstery, curtains etc. Floor nozzle: To clean carpets or smooth surfaces. In order to facilitate control, the fl oor nozzle is fi tted with rollers and can be adjusted to suit the circumstances. Carpet: make sure that the brushes on the fl oor nozzle are deactivated when cleaning carpets. If this is not the case, press the lever on the fl oor nozzle forwards with your foot. In order to vacuum even surfaces, for example, press the lever back with your foot. This activates the brushes (you can tell whether this is the case by checking that the brushes are visible on the fl oor nozzle). Releasing the nozzles: Pull these off while turning slightly. Air Slide Open the air slide on the hose handle in order to regulate the airfl ow or to clear any particles sticking to the nozzle. Filter System or Dust Bag You can operate your vacuum cleaner with the dust fi lter system or a conventional dust bag. For this you will fi nd the dust bag carrier among the accessories. Dust Bag If the fi lling level indicator (1) lights up the dust bag has to be replaced. Illustration A
- Pull the plug out of the socket.
- Open the lid of the dust compartment with the button (5) (see illustration A). Illustration B
- Pull the dust bag out of the holder (see illustration B).
- Insert a new dust bag.
- Close the cover so that it snaps into place. Dust Filter System
- Your device also has a dust fi lter system. The conventional dust bag can b replaced by a dust container.
- In this, coarse dirt particles and tiny particles fl oating in the air are swirled out of the suction air by the high speed of the air current.
- The purchase of dust bags is no longer necessary. NOTE: If you would like to use the dust container the dust bag carrier has to be removed from the device beforehand. Removing the Dust Container and Filter If the fi lling leve indicator (1) lights up the dust container needs emptying. Please proceed as follows: Illustration C
- Open the lid of the dust compartment with the button (5) (until its locks in place).

- Open the clip on the lid (b) in order to release it from the dust container (a).
- Turn the fi lter insert (c) a small amount in an anticlo- ckwise direction to release it from the lid (b). Illustration E Motor protection fi lter (d)
- The motor protection fi lter is located in the dust space.
- The fi lter fi ts vertically into the rear section of the dust hou- sing. Pull the fi lter upwards to remove it (see illustration E). Cleaning the Dust Container and Filter Inserts
- Always empty the dust container fi rst.
- After use you can rinse out the dust container with clean water.
- Any soiling in the container can be removed with a sponge or nylon brush. Filter Insert, Motor protection fi lter
- Quick clean: Tap or brush the fi lters out in order to remove any residues. The quick clean is recommended every time the dust container is emptied.
- Hand wash: In the case of more intense soiling we recom- mend a hand wash up to 40°C. CAUTION: You should always carry out this cleaning process if the suction power of the device is reduced! NOTE:
- Simply allow the fi lters to dry in the air!
- The device should only be used again when the fi lters are dry! Outlet fi lter (13) The appliance is also equipped with an outlet fi lter.
- In order to ensure that the fi lter works correctly, we recom- mend that you replace it every six months.
- This fi lter is to be found on the top side of your device under a ventilation grille.
- Pull on the button to open the grille.
- Remove the grille by pulling upwards.
- Take out the fi lter and clean it as described above.
- Place the fi lter back in position. Cleaning and storage Cleaning
- Pull the plug out of the socket before cleaning!
- Clean the casing with a dry cloth. Storage
- Let the iron cool down completely.
- Wind the cable completely.
- Insert the hook of the nozzle on the back of the device into the parking aid (8). Troubleshooting
- The Device Does Not Work. Remedy: Check the connection to the mains. Check the position of the switch.
- The device does not suck up anything. Possible Cause: The suction power is set too low. Remedy: Check the position of the control switch. Possible Cause: The dust bag is full. Remedy: Renew the dust bag.
Possible Cause: The dust container or the fi lters are dirty. Remedy: Empty or clean the components. Possible Cause: There is a foreign body in the suction tube or the nozzle. Remedy: Check the accessories for foreign bodies. NOTE: Important note!
- Cleaning may become necessary after a shorter time, depending on the conditions of use, e.g. when vacuuming fi ne dust.
- If the suction power of your vacuum cleaner diminishes please clean the fi lters as described.

The guarantee services do not entail an extension of the life of the guarantee nor do they give rise to any right to a new guarantee! Proof of the guarantee is provided by the proof of purchase. Without proof of purchase no free replacement or repair will be carried out.
