Frequently Asked Questions - Hobby Bezzera

How to start the machine for the first time?
Fill the water tank, plug in the machine, then press the main switch and pump simultaneously until water comes out of the steam wand. Then close the valve, turn off the pump and activate the coffee switch. Wait for the green light to indicate that the machine is ready.
What to do if the yellow light of the main switch does not light up?
Check that the plug is properly connected and that the power cable is not damaged. If the problem persists, contact a qualified technician.
How to prepare an espresso coffee?
Wait for the green light to turn on. Place ground coffee in the portafilter (1 dose for one cup, 2 doses for two cups), tamp lightly with the tamper, lock the portafilter, place a cup under the spout and press the coffee switch until you get the desired amount.
How to use the steam function?
Activate the steam switch, open the water/steam valve until steam comes out, then close it. Wait for the green light to come back on, immerse the wand in the beverage, open the valve and heat. After use, close the valve and refill the boiler following the procedure described in the manual.
How to clean the steam wand?
After each use, clean the wand with a damp cloth. If it is clogged, use a pin to unclog it. Regular cleaning prevents residue buildup.
What to do if the coffee flows too slowly or too quickly?
If the coffee flows too slowly, the grind is too fine, the dose too large, or the filter clogged. If too quickly, the grind is too coarse or the dose insufficient. Adjust the grind, dose, and tamping. If in doubt, consult a technician.
How to maintain the portafilter and filters?
After each use, clean them with hot water. Soak them in boiling water for a few minutes to dissolve oils. Use a soft brush. Replace damaged filters.
What does the green light mean?
The green light indicates that the machine has reached the ideal temperature for dispensing coffee or hot water. Wait for it to turn on before using the functions.
How to descale the machine?
The manual does not specify a descaling procedure. It is recommended to use water with a hardness of about 15°F and follow daily maintenance instructions. For deep descaling, contact an authorized technical service.
What to do in case of malfunction or leak?
Unplug the machine and immediately contact the authorized technical support service. Do not attempt any repairs yourself, as the machine is sealed and any opening voids the warranty.

The provided products are covered by warranty due to defects of material and/or manufacturing for a period of 12 months from the invoicing date. If the machine is outside the warranty period, it will not be possible to avail of it. Warranty will be granted only after submission of the original purchase document (sale receipt or invoice) attesting the purchase date.

In case of malfunction attributable to manufacturing defects, request the warranty intervention directly to the authorized G. BEZZERA dealer where the machine has been purchased, indicating the malfunction and the serial number indicated in the user manual or on the machine frame.

Goods returns which may reach the authorized dealer without the above serial number will void the warranty, since machine traceability data would not be available.

In case of return, equipment delivery is care of the customer. Handle with care and reposition the machine inside the original packing, to avoid further damage during transport. We remind that, in order to grant the warranty, the goods shall be mandatorily returned in the original packing.

The cost and the risks of machine transport to the dealer shall be borne by the customer.

  • are caused by thunderbolts, humidity, fire, improper power supply voltage, as well as any other damage not objectively attributable to the manufacturer.
  • are ascribable to tampering with the power supply cable
  • are not ascribable to manufacturing faults, but rather to the normal wear of the materials due to the proper use of the equipment (notably, calcification and wear of the parts subject to wear, e.g. seals, grinding disks)
  • occur due to wrong use, negligence or carelessness in use or care (e.g. in case of non observance of the user instructions of the equipment)
  • are caused by wrong installation, maintenance, or repair by non authorized persons or by damaging during transport.

3 - MACHINE DESCRIPTION

3.1 Description of working cycle

Water coming from the tank at the back of the machine is sent to the boiler by a vibration pump controlled by a switch on the front panel. Water is heated by an electrical resistance and temperature is regulated and kept constant by contact thermostats located at the top of the boiler. Water passes through a valve, crossing a boiler filter to the infusion area. Hot water or steam can be directly withdrawn from the boiler through the faucet.
