How to prepare coffee with the Moulinex Principio FG2125?

Use cold water, a paper filter No. 4, and ground coffee. Pour water into the tank (b) without exceeding the max level. Place the filter in the filter holder (c) and add coffee. Close the filter holder lid. Place the carafe (g) on the hot plate (d). Press the On/Off button (e) to start. The red indicator light turns on. The appliance stops automatically at the end of the cycle.

Why won't my coffee maker turn on?

Check the power connection and that the outlet works. Make sure the On/Off button is pressed (indicator light on). If the problem persists, contact an authorized service center.

How to descale the coffee maker?

Descale every 40 cycles. Use a sachet of descaling solution diluted in 2 large cups of water or 2 large cups of white vinegar. Pour into the tank (b) and start a cycle without coffee. After one cup flows out, stop and let it sit for 1 hour. Resume the cycle to finish. Then rinse by running 2-3 cycles with fresh water.

Can I use the carafe in the microwave or dishwasher?

No, the glass carafe should not be placed in the microwave, dishwasher, or on a stove top. Wash it by hand.

The drip-stop is not working properly, what should I do?

Make sure the carafe is properly in place. The drip-stop activates automatically when the carafe is removed. If coffee is still flowing, check that the filter holder is correctly positioned and that the filter holder lid is closed. Refer to the manual.

How to clean the filter holder?

The filter holder (c) is dishwasher safe. You can also clean it by hand with a damp sponge. Never immerse the appliance.

What is the maximum water level not to exceed?

Do not exceed the max level indicated on the tank (approx. 1 L). Excess could cause overflow.

What to do in case of excessive noise or slow flow?

These symptoms indicate a need for descaling. Perform a complete descaling (see corresponding question). If the problem persists, contact customer service.

The appliance is hot, can I clean it immediately?

No, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning. Use a damp cloth, never running water.

• After switching on your coffee maker, never touch the hot plate with your hand when removing the jug from the coffee maker. Whilst in operation, the plate reaches a high temperature and can cause burns.

Before using for the first time

• Run the coffee maker for the first time without coffee, rinsing the circuit with 1 litre of water.

Making coffee

(Follow illustrations 1 to 8)

• Only use cold water and a paper filter n°4.
• Do not exceed the maximum amount of water indicated on the water tank level indicator.
• Close the lid of the filter holder firmly before switching on the coffee maker.
• This coffee maker is equipped with a drip-stop feature so that you can serve a cup of coffee before all the water has finished flowing through. Return the jug to its base quickly to avoid spillage.

Operation:

• Press the red " button; the red indicator light comes on and the coffee maker begins to run.
• Press the " button again to stop operation.

Cleaning

• To dispose of the used coffee grounds, remove the filter holder (c) from the coffee maker.
• Unplug the appliance.
• Do not clean the appliance while hot.
• Clean with a damp cloth or sponge.
• Never put the appliance in water or under running water.
• The filter holder can be washed in the dishwasher.

Dscaling

• Descale your coffee maker after every 40 cycles.

You can use:

• a packet of limescale remover diluted in
  2 large cups of water.
• or 2 cups of white vinegar.
• Pour into the tank (b) and switch the coffee maker on (without coffee).
• Let the equivalent of one cup flow into the jug (g), then switch off.
• Leave to act for one hour.
• Switch the coffee maker back on to run the rest of the liquid through.
• Rinse the coffee maker by running 1 litre of water through it 2 or 3 times.
• The guarantee does not cover coffee makers that do not work properly or do not work at all because they have not been descaled.

Practical tip

To remove and put back the filter-holder (c), make sure that the filter-holder is in the right direction and that the handle is correctly positioned for locking it. If it's not it may not be possible to close the lid properly.

Please note: before removing or putting back the filter-holder, remove the pourer from its base.

Troubleshooting

• Check:
  that it is plugged in properly.
• that the switch or the On / off button (red indicator light on) is in the "ON" position.
• So that the filter holder is correctly in place inside the coffee maker and that the lid of the filter holder is correctly positioned above the filter holder. See figure n°7.
• The water flow-through time is too long or makes too much noise: descale your coffee maker.
