Frequently Asked Questions - 70d ARCHOS

How to charge the Archos 70d?

Connect the provided USB cable to the Archos 70d and a powered-on computer. Press the Back button. The charging indicator turns blue while charging. Once fully charged, the indicator turns off. Charging time is approximately 6 hours in standby mode.

How to transfer files to the Archos 70d?

Connect the device to a computer via the USB cable. The Archos 70d appears as a storage device. Copy your files (books, music, videos) into the corresponding folders using Windows Explorer or Finder (Mac). Then disconnect it by clicking 'Safely Remove Hardware'.

How to adjust the font size?

While reading, press the Zoom button. Five sizes are available: Small, Medium, Large, Very large, XXL. Use the direction keys to select the desired size, then press OK.

How to add or remove a bookmark?

To add a bookmark, open the desired page, press Menu, select Add bookmark and confirm with OK. To delete, go to Menu > Bookmarks, select the bookmark, press Menu again then Delete.

How to listen to music while reading a book?

While reading, press the Play/Pause button. A control bar appears at the bottom. Use the direction keys: Up to increase volume, Down to decrease, Right for next track, Left for previous. Press Play/Pause again to close the player.

How to reset the Archos 70d if it freezes?

If the device freezes, press and hold the On/Off button for 6 seconds. This forces a hardware reset. Data is not deleted.

How to insert a Micro-SD card?

Orient the card with the contacts facing up and insert it into the Micro-SD slot until it clicks. To remove, push again until it clicks. Caution: do not insert or remove the card during an ongoing operation to avoid crashes.

How to use Adobe Digital Editions for protected books?

Connect the Archos 70d to your PC. Open the digitaleditions_172 file preloaded on the device. Install Adobe Digital Editions and authorize your PC and your eReader with your Adobe ID. You can then transfer DRM-protected eBooks by dragging and dropping them into ADE.

How to turn pages of a book?

Use the Next page (right arrow) and Previous page (left arrow) buttons located below the screen. You can also press the corresponding direction keys.

How to zoom on a page or photo?

While reading, press the Zoom button to access the font menu, then select Enlarge for zoom. Choose the zoom level with the direction keys and confirm with OK. For a full-screen photo, press Zoom to change the level, and Back to return to original size.

STARTING UP

Charging the Battery

Before using your ARCHOS for the first time, completely charge the battery! IMPORTANT: when connected to a computer, your device does not start charging automatically. Follow the procedure below.

1. Connect the supplied USB cable to the ARCHOS and to a running computer. The ARCHOS device will turn on and mount.
2. Press the Back button. When the device is charging, the charging indicator color is blue. When the battery is fully charged, the charging indicator light is off.

Notes:

• Please turn the Reader to standby mode to shorten the charging process (short press on on/off button).
• It will take about 6 hours to fully charge the reader in standby mode (LCD off).

Inserting a Micro-SD Card

Make sure that the Micro-SD card is in the correct position with the contact pin facing upwards. You may damage the card and the reader if you do not insert it properly.

• Push the card into the card slot until it clicks.
• To remove the card, push it once again until it clicks.

Caution

• When a Micro-SD card is inserted in or ejected from the card slot, it may take a few seconds for the eReader to update the content.
• Do not insert or eject a Micro-SD card when other operations are running, as this may cause the system to hang.
• Do not remove the card if the content inside the card is being played. This will halt the operation of the device and cause it to restart.

Transferring media to your ARCHOS

Connect the supplied USB cable to the ARCHOS and to a running computer. The ARCHOS will turn on. Within a few seconds, the ARCHOS will appear as an icon on your computer. 2. Transfer your media files to the ARCHOS by copy/pasting them into the respective folders using Windows Explorer (or the Finder on a Mac®). Once all your file transfers are finished, close Windows Explorer and any other program that may have read or written to the ARCHOS. Click on the 'safely remove' icon in the system tray, next to the clock. You can now unplug the USB cable.

ARCHOS INTERFACE

Description

1. Continue Reading: displays the page of the last read book. Press the OK button to open the last read page. 2. Library: displays the list of books available. Move the cursor to the desired book and press the OK button to open it. 3. Battery Indicator: displays battery status during operation. 4. Page Number: displays the current page number and total available pages. 5. Time & Date: displays current time and date; you can set this from the [Settings].

File Directory: indicates the location where the file is stored. 6. SD - SD card, INT - internal memory

The menu button

1. To access available options, press the Menu button.
2. Use the directional keys Up or Down to move to the desired item.
3. Press to select it.
4. Press the Back button to exit.

ADOBE DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT

You can download the most recent eBooks in protected ePub and PDF format and transfer them onto your eReader. To do so, you need to download and install Adobe Digital Editions® onto your computer. This program will help you when you order and transfer your eBooks onto your ARCHOS.

Installing Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) Authorizing PC and ereader

The Adobe Digital Editions installer is preloaded into the ereader.

1. Connect the ereader to your PC via the supplied USB cable.
2. On your PC, go to My Computer and double click on the ereader icon. Make sure your computer is connected to internet
3. Double click on the [digitaleditions_172] file to open the installer. Alternatively, you can download the installer from http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/#fp.

For first time user, you will need to get a free adobe ID from adobe website. Click on Get an Adobe ID online.

1. Enter your email address and complete the online form as per instructed.
2. Upon registration, return to the ADE window.
3. Enter the username and password to activate your Adobe account.
4. After activation, connect the Reader to PC. ADE will detect the Reader and you are prompted to authorize device. After authorization, you will be able to find the Reader recognized in ADE as below. Contents inside the Reader will be displayed on the right hand windows. You can now start downloading or buying eBooks from online Ebook stores supporting Adobe DRM. Purchased or downloaded eBooks will be stored in [My Digital Editions] in [My Documents].

Transferring DRM eBooks to your ereader

1. From the Adobe Digital Editions application, click on [All Items] on the left hand column. Items in [My Digital Editions] will be listed down in right window.
2. Select the desired item(s) to be transferred + to select multiple files.
3. Drag and drop the selected item(s) into the ereader's Drive located on the last row of the left side column.

READING BOOKS

Your eBooks transferred to the Archos device are listed in the Home Menu. The ARCHOS device supports eBooks in epub, pdf, txt format and also supports Google books.

Opening an ebook

1. From the ereader's main interface, use the directional buttons to select Library.
2. Select the book you want to open.
3. Press the OK button.

Turning book page

• Press the or button to turn to the next page. To turn to the previous page, press the or button.

Adjusting font size

1. While reading, press the button to enter the font size menu. There are 5 font sizes available: Small, Medium, Large, XLarge, XXLarge.
2. Move the cursor to the desired font size.
3. Press <OK> to confirm. It may take some time for the fonts to be resized.

Zooming in/out

While reading, you can zoom in/out. 1. Press the Zoom button to enter the font size menu. 2. Select Enlarge. Zoom options will appear. 3. Move the cursor to the desired zoom level and press the OK button. In zoom mode, use the buttons to pan across the zoomed page.

Page turning is disabled in zoom mode. To exit zoom mode, press the Back button.

READING BOOKS

Bookmarks

Adding a Bookmark

While reading, turn to the desired page that you would like to bookmark.

1. Press the Menu button.
2. Select Add Bookmark.
3. Press the OK button.

- Deleting Bookmark

1. Press the Menu button and select Bookmarks. All your bookmarks are displayed.
2. Select the one you want to delete and press the Menu button.
3. Select Delete and press OK.
4. From a displayed bookmark;
5. Press the button.
6. Select Remove bookmark and press OK.

Read from Bookmarks in Home Menu

From Home Menu, press

and select [Bookmarks] to enter Bookmark List. In the Bookmark List, move the cursor to the desired bookmark, press to open.

Read from Bookmarks in Current Book

In reading page, press

and select [Bookmarks] to enter into Bookmark List.
In Bookmark List, move the cursor to the desired page and press OK button to open.

Background Music Playback in Book page

The device supports background music playing when reading books or viewing photos. - Press the button. A music player control bar will appear at the bottom of the page.

For the music control buttons:

Up: volume + Down: Volume - Right: Next/Fast forward - Left: Previous/Rewind

• To close the music player control, press the button.

PLAYING MULTIMEDIA FILES

From the Home screen, press the

button, then select Video, Music or Photo.
Press the OK> button.

Video

Enter/Exit Full Screen: Press Zoom button

Increase/Decrease Volume: Press button

Previous Video / Fast Rewind: Press button

Play / Pause a video: Press button

To Display Subtitle during Video Playback: The reader supports subtitle of sub, ssa, srt, lrc format. The file name of the subtitle must be identical to that of the video file. The subtitle will be loaded automatically during video playback.

Music

In the Music player, press the button to play/pause your music.

Press the directional button to play the next song. Press and hold to fast forward.

Press the directional button to play the previous song. Press and hold to fast rewind.

Press the directional button (Up) to increase the volume.

Press the directional button (Down) to decrease the volume.

Photo

Use the buttons to navigate through the files/folders.

Press OK on the selected photo to view a full screen display.

In full screen mode, press to view the previous and next picture.

To zoom in on a picture, in full screen mode, press the Zoom button to change the zoom level.

To return to the original size, press the button.

Slideshow

In full screen mode, press

[Slideshow] to start.

To stop the slideshow, press

button once.

From the drop down menu, select [Slide Time] to adjust the slideshow duration.

FIRST USE

Charging the battery

Before using your ARCHOS for the first time, fully charge its battery!

IMPORTANT: Battery charging does not start automatically as soon as the device is connected to a computer. Please follow the procedure below.

1. Connect the supplied USB cable to the ARCHOS and to a powered-on computer. The ARCHOS device turns on and is mounted.
2. Press the Back button. While charging, the charging indicator color is blue. When the battery is fully charged, the charging indicator turns off.

Notes:

• Put the ARCHOS in standby mode to reduce charging time.
• Full charging of the ARCHOS in standby mode takes about 6 hours.

Inserting a Micro-SD card

Make sure to properly orient the Micro-SD card before inserting it. You risk damaging the card and the device if the card is not inserted correctly.

• Insert the card into the Micro-SD card slot until you hear a click.
• To remove the card, press it once until you hear a click.

Warning

• When you insert or remove a Micro-SD card, updating the device's content may take a few seconds.
• Do not insert or remove a Micro-SD card while another process is running, as this may cause the system to crash.
• Do not remove the card if its content is in use. This will interrupt the device's operation and it will restart.

Transferring multimedia files

1 Connect the supplied USB cable to your ARCHOS and to a powered-on computer. The ARCHOS turns on. After a few seconds, the ARCHOS appears as an icon on your computer. To transfer your files to the ARCHOS, you can copy/paste them directly into the device's respective folders (with Windows Explorer or Finder on Mac®). 3 Once all file transfers are complete, close Windows Media Player or any other program that might be using the ARCHOS. Then click the safely remove hardware icon in the taskbar, next to the clock. You can now unplug the USB cable.

Date & Time: displays the date and time. They can be modified by pressing the Menu button, then Settings. 6 File directory: indicates the location where a given file is stored. ADOBE DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT

It allows you to read protected e-books. To do this, you need to download and install Adobe Digital Editions on your computer. This application will allow you to purchase e-books and transfer them to your ARCHOS.

Install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) Grant access rights to the PC and the ARCHOS

The installation software for Adobe Digital Editions is preloaded on your device.

1. Connect the ARCHOS to your PC via the USB cable.
2. On your computer, go to My Computer and double-click on the ARCHOS icon. Make sure you have access to the Internet.
3. Double-click on the file [digitaleditions_172] to launch the installation. You can also download the installation software from http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/#fp.

If you are connecting for the first time, you will need to create a free account on the Adobe website. Click on Get an Adobe ID.

1. Enter your email address and complete the form as indicated.
2. After you have registered, display the ADE window.
3. Enter your username and password to access your Adobe account.
4. Connect the ARCHOS to your computer. The Adobe Digital Editions application detects the device and asks you to open access to your ARCHOS.

Once access is opened, the ARCHOS will be displayed in the Adobe Digital Editions application. The content of the device will be displayed in the right part of the application. Purchase and download books from stores that support Adobe DRM. Your books will be stored in My Documents/[My Digital Editions].

Transfer your books to any ARCHOS

1. From the Adobe Digital Editions application, click on All Items in the left column. The books present in the [My Digital Editions] folder will be displayed in the right window.
2. Select the books to transfer. + to select multiple files at the same time.
3. Drag and drop the selected books onto the ARCHOS icon displayed at the bottom of the left column.

READING FUNCTION

Your digital books downloaded to the Archos eReader are displayed on the home screen page. The ARCHOS reads digital books in epub, pdf, txt formats and supports Google Books. Use the directional arrows or , or to select a digital book. Press to display it.

Opening a digital book

1. From the main screen of the ARCHOS, use the directional arrows to select Library.
2. Select the book you want to display.
3. Press the OK button.

Turning a page

• Press the button or directional arrow to go to the next page. - To display the previous page, press the directional arrow button.

Setting the font size

1. While reading, you can press the button to access the font size menu. There are 5 font sizes: Normal, Medium, Large, Very Large, XXL.
2. Select the desired font size.
3. Press OK to confirm. The font size is adjusted after a few moments.

Zoom in/out

While reading, you can zoom in or out. 1. Press the Zoom button to access the font size menu. 2. Select Enlarge. Zoom options are displayed. 3. Select the desired zoom size and press the OK button. When you zoom in on a page, use the directional arrows to move around the page. When zoomed, the page turning function is disabled. Press the Back button to exit zoom mode.

READING FUNCTION

Bookmarks

Adding a bookmark: While reading an ebook, open the page where you want to add a bookmark. 1. Press the button

PLAYING MULTIMEDIA FILES

From the home screen, press the button

To display subtitles for a video being played: the Archos ereader supports subtitles of type sub, ssa, srt, lrc. The name of each file containing subtitles must be identical to the corresponding video. Subtitles will display automatically during video playback.

Music

In the Music application, press the OK button to play/pause the music. Press the directional arrow to play the next song. Press and hold for fast forward. Press the directional arrow to play the previous song. Press and hold for rewind. Press the directional arrow to increase the volume. Press the directional arrow to decrease the volume.

Photo

Use the directional arrows to browse files/folders. Press the button after selecting a photo to display it in full screen. In full screen mode, press the directional arrows / to display a previous or next photo. To zoom in on a photo, in full screen mode, press the button to select a zoom level. To return to normal display, press the <Back button.

Slideshow

In full screen mode, press the button

Before first use of the ARCHOS, the battery must be fully charged!

IMPORTANT: When the device is connected to a computer, it does not start charging automatically. Follow the procedure described below.

1. Connect the ARCHOS to your computer using the supplied USB cable. The ARCHOS will then turn on and become ready.
2. Press the Back button. While the battery is charging, the power indicator lights up blue. When the battery is fully charged, the charging indicator turns off. Notes:

- Put the reader back into standby mode to shorten the charging time.

• Fully charging the reader in standby mode (LCD off) takes about 6 hours.

Transferring media files

Make sure the microSD card is in the correct position with the contact pins facing up. If the card is not inserted properly, the card or the reader may be damaged.

• Press the card into the card slot until it clicks into place audibly.
• To remove the card, press it again until you hear a click.

Caution

When inserting or removing a microSD card into the card slot, it may take a few seconds for the eReader to update the content. Do not insert or remove a microSD card while another operation is in progress, as this may cause a system lock. Do not remove the card while the content of the card is being played. This will stop the device and restart it.

1. Connect your ARCHOS to the computer using the supplied USB cable. The ARCHOS will then turn on. Within a few seconds, the ARCHOS appears as an icon on your computer. 2. You can transfer your media files by copying/pasting them into the respective folders on your ARCHOS, either with Windows Explorer (or with Finder on a Mac®). Once the file transfer is complete, close Windows Explorer and all other programs. Click on the 'Safely Remove' icon in the system tray next to the clock. You can now remove the USB cable.

1 Continue reading: Open the last page read of the last book read. Press the key to access the last page read. 2 Library: Display available books as a list. The Menu key

1. To access available options, press the Menu key.
2. Use the direction keys (up/down) to navigate to the desired icon.

ADOBE DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT

You can load the latest books in protected ePub and PDF format onto your eReader. To do so, you need to download Adobe Digital Editions® and install it on your computer. This program will allow you to purchase eBooks and load them onto your ARCHHOS.

Installation of Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)

The installer for Adobe Digital Editions is preinstalled on the eReader.

1. Connect the eReader to your PC using the supplied USB cable.
2. On your PC, go to My Computer and double-click the eReader icon. Make sure the computer is connected to the internet.
3. Double-click the file [digitaleditions_172] to open the installer. Alternatively, you can download the installer here: http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/#fp.

First-time users need a free Adobe ID from the Adobe website. Click on Apply for Adobe ID online.

1. Enter your email address and fill out the form as instructed.

Authorize PC and eReader

1. After registration, return to the ADE window.
2. Enter username and password to activate your Adobe account.
3. After activation, connect the reader to the PC. ADE will recognize the reader and you will be prompted to authorize the device.

After authorization, you will find the recognized reader in ADE as shown. The content of the reader is displayed in the right-hand panels.

You can now start downloading or purchasing eBooks from eBook shops that support Adobe DRM.

Purchased or downloaded eBooks are saved under [My Digital Editions] in [Documents and Settings].

Transferring DRM eBooks to your reader

1. Click [All Items] in the left column in the Adobe Digital Editions application. The items in [My Digital Editions] are listed in the right window.
2. Select the item(s) you want to transfer. + , to select multiple files.
3. Drag the selected item(s) onto the Reader drive in the last row of the left column.

READING BOOKS

Books transferred to the ARCHOS device are listed in the Home menu. The ARCHOS device supports eBooks in the formats epub, pdf, txt. Use the direction keys - up or down, left or right - to select a book and open it with OK>.

Open book

1. Use the direction keys on the main page of the eReader to select the library.
2. Select the book you want to open.
3. Press the OK button.
4. Press the button or to go to the next page. - Press the button or to go to the previous page.

Adjust font size

1. While reading, the font size can be changed with the – button. Five different font sizes are available: Small, Medium, Large, XL, and XXL.
2. Select the desired font size.
3. Confirm with OK.
4. Changing the font size may take a few minutes.

Zoom (enlarge/reduce)

You can zoom while reading.

1. Press the zoom button to access the font size menu.
2. Select enlarge. The zoom options will be displayed.
3. Select the desired zoom level and confirm with the OK button. While in zoom mode, you can navigate the zoomed page using the arrow keys. While in zoom mode, page turning is disabled. Exit zoom mode using the back button.

Bookmarks

Add bookmark

1. While reading, select the page you want to bookmark.
2. Press the menu button.
3. Select Add bookmark.
4. Press the OK button.

Delete bookmarks

1. Select Bookmarks from the menu. All your bookmarks will now be displayed.
2. Select the desired bookmark and press the Menu button.
3. Select Delete and confirm the deletion with the OK button. From a displayed bookmark;
4. Press the Menu button.
5. Select Delete bookmarks and confirm with the OK button

Reading from bookmarks in the Home menu

In the Home menu, press and select [Bookmarks] to access the bookmark list. Move the cursor in the bookmark list to the desired bookmark and press to open it.

Playing music while reading

You can play music while reading or during a slideshow. Press the < Play/Pause > button. A control for the music player appears at the bottom of the page.

To control the music player, press the button.

Video

On the main screen, press the button, then select Video, Music, or Photo. Press the button. 3 The ARCHOS device displays the selected application.

Activate/exit full screen mode. Press the button.

BEFORE YOU START

Charging the battery

Before using your ARNOVA for the first time, fully charge the battery!

IMPORTANT: when the device is connected to a computer, the device does not start automatically. Follow the procedure below.

1. Connect the supplied USB cable to the ARCHOS and to a powered-on computer. The ARCHOS will turn on. The USB storage device can be used.
2. Press the Back button. The power indicator is blue when the battery is charging. When the battery is fully charged, the charge indicator light turns off.

Notes:

• Put the Reader in standby mode to shorten the charging process.
• In standby mode, the reader takes about 6 hours to fully charge (LCD off).

Insert a microSD card.

Make sure the Micro-SD card is in the correct position, with the contact plates facing up. If you do not insert it correctly, you may damage the card and the reader.

• Push the card to the bottom of the slot until it clicks.
• To remove the card, press it again until it clicks.

Caution

• Once a Micro-SD card is inserted or ejected from its slot, the eReader will take a few seconds to update the content.
• Do not insert or eject any Micro-SD card while another operation is in progress, as this may cause a system lock.
• Do not remove the card while its content is being played. This may interrupt the device's operation and cause it to restart.

File Transfer

1. Connect the supplied USB cable to the ARCHOS and to a powered-on computer. The ARCHOS will turn on. Within a few seconds, the ARCHOS icon will appear on your computer. You can transfer multimedia files to the ARCHOS device by copying and pasting them into the corresponding folders using Windows Explorer (or Finder on a Mac). 3. Once all file transfers are complete, close Windows Explorer and any other program that may have read or written to the ARCHOS. Click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray, next to the clock. Now you can unplug the USB cable.

ADOBE DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT

You can download the latest books in protected ePub and PDF formats and transfer them to your e-reader. To do this, you will need to download and install Adobe Digital Editions® on your computer. This program will help you when you request and transfer your e-books to your ARCHOS.

Installing Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)

The Adobe Digital Editions installer is loaded from the source on the e-reader. 1. Connect the e-reader to your PC using the supplied USB cable. 2. On the PC, go to My Computer and double-click on the e-reader icon. 3. Make sure the computer is connected to the Internet. Double-click on the file [digitalations_172] to start the installer. You can also download the installer from http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/#fp.

If it is the first time you use it, you will need to get a free Adobe ID on the Adobe website. Click on Get an Adobe ID online.

1. Enter your email address and fill in the form as instructed.

PC and e-reader authorization

1. After registering, return to the ADE screen.
2. Enter your username and password to activate your Adobe account.
3. After activation, connect the e-reader to the PC. ADE will detect the e-reader and you will be prompted to authorize the device. After authorization, you will find the e-reader in ADE, as shown below. The content of the e-reader will appear in the right-hand windows. You can now start downloading or purchasing e-books from eBook stores compatible with Adobe DRM. Purchased or downloaded e-books will be saved in [My Digital Editions] under [My Documents].

Transferring DRM e-books to your e-reader

1. In the Adobe Digital Editions application, click on [All Items] in the left column. The items in [My Digital Editions] will appear in the right-hand window.
2. Choose the items you want to transfer + to select multiple files.
3. Drag and drop the selected items onto the e-reader drive located in the last row of the left column.

READING BOOKS

The books transferred to the Archos device appear in the Home menu. The ARCHOS device is compatible with e-books in epub, pdf, and txt formats. Use the direction buttons, up or down, left or right, to select a book and press to open it.

Opening a book

1. From the main screen of the e-reader, use the direction buttons to choose Library.
2. Select the book you want to open.
3. Press the OK button.

Turn a page of the book

• Press the or button to advance to the next page. - To go back to the previous page, press the or button.

Adjusting the font size

1. During reading, press the button to access the font size menu. There are 5 possible font sizes: Small, Medium, Large, XLarge, XXLarge.
2. Move the cursor to the desired font size.
3. Press OK to confirm. It may take a while for the font size to change.

Zoom in/out

During reading, you can enlarge or reduce the text (zoom in/out). 1. Press the Zoom button to access the font size menu. 2. Select Enlarge. The zoom options will appear. 3. Move the cursor to the desired zoom level and press the OK button. In zoom mode, use the buttons to move around the enlarged page. Page turning is disabled in zoom mode. To exit zoom mode, press the Back button.

Adding a bookmark

During reading, go to the desired page where you want the bookmark.

1. Press the Menu button.
2. SELECTION Add bookmark.
3. Press the OK button.

Delete Bookmark

1. Press the Menu button and choose Bookmarks. All your bookmarks are displayed.
2. Choose the one you want to delete and press the Menu button.
3. Select Delete and press OK.
4. Press the button.
5. Select Delete bookmark and press OK.

In the Home menu, press <Menu> and choose [Bookmarks] to access the list of bookmarks.

In the list, move the cursor to the one you want, and press to open it.

Charging the battery

Prima di utilizzato il disposativo ARCHOS per la prima volta, caricare completamente la batteria! Charging the batteries

Laad de batterij volledig op alvorens de ARCHOS voor de eerste maal te gebruiken! BELANGRIJK: Wonneer het apparaat is aangesloten op een computer, worden het apparaat Niet automatisch geladen. Gebruik de volgende procedure. 1. Verbind de meegeleverde USB-kabel met de ARCHOS en met een computer die aan staat. Het apparaat worden ingeschakeld. USB-opslagapparaat kan worden gezruikt. 2. Druk op de toets Terug. Wanneer het apparaat aan het laden is,licht de laadindicator blauw op. Als de accu volledig is opgeladen, dan Licht de laadindicatoruit. Opmerkingen: - Zet de reader in de stand-bymodus om het oplaadproces te versnellen. - Het vergt ongeveer 6 uur om de reader volledig op te laden in de standbymodus (LCD-schemui).

Inserting a micro SD card

Zorg ervoor dat de Micro-SD-kaart goed worden geplaatst, met de contactpinaar boven. U kunt de kaart en de reader beschadigen als de kaart Niet goed worden geplaatst. - Druk de kaart in de kaartsleuf totdat deze vastklikt. - Als u de kaart wilt verwijderen, drukt u nogmaals op de kaart, zodate ze weer losklikt.

Transferring media to your ARCHOS

1 Verbind de meegeleverde USB-kabel met de ARCHOS en met een computer die aan staat. 2 U kurz uw mediabestanden op de ARCHOS plaatsen door ze ofwel in de betreffende map te kopieren/met behulp van Windows® Verkenner (of met Zoeken op een Mac®) 3 Sluit, zodra alle bestanden overgeplaatst zichn, Windows® Verkenner en eventuele andere toepassingen die bestanden op de ARCHOS hebben gelezen of bestanden op uw ARCHOS hebben geplaatst. Klik op het 'VEILIG VERWIJDEREN' pictogram in het systemvak, naast de klok. U=knt de USB-kabel nu loskoppelen.

1 Doorgaan met lezen: de pagina van hetIRST gelezen boek weergeven. Druk op OK> om de LAST gelezen pagina te openen. 2 Bibliotheek: een lijst met beschikbare boeken weergeven. Verplaats de cursor waar het gewenste boek en druk op < OK> om deze te openen. 3 Batterijindicator: geeft de status van de batterij weeer. 4 Paginanummer: geeft de huidige pagina en het totale aantal pagina's weeer. 5 Tijd & Datum: geeft de huidigeijd en datum waar, u kunt deze instellen via [Settings]. 6 Bestandsdirectory: geeft de locatie weeer waar het bestand werk opgeslagen. SD - SD-kaart, INT - intern geheugen

ADOBE DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT

Installing Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)

Transferring DRM ebooks to your eReader

READING BOOKS

De boeken die zich op het Archos-apparaat bevinden, worden in het Home Menu weergegeven. Het Archos-apparaat ondersteunt eBooks in het formaat epub, pdf en txt. Gebruik de pijltjestoetsen (omhoog, omlaag, links en rechts) om een boek te selecteren en druk op <OK> om het boek te openen.

Opening a book

1. Gebruik de richtingsknuppen van de hoofdinterface van de eReader om Library te selecteren. 2. Selecteer het boek dat u wilt openen. 3. Druk op de knop OK.

Turning a page

Adjusting the font size

1. Tijdens het lezen, druk op om maar het menu van de tekengrootte te gaan. Er zijn vrij tekengroottes beschikkaar: Small, Medium, Large, XXLarge. 2. Verplaats de cursor waar de gewenste tekengrootte. 3. Druk op om te bevestigen. 4. Het kan enigeijd in beslag nemen voordat de tekengrootte worden aangepast.

Zooming in/out

Tijdens het lezen=kunt u inzoomen/uitzoomen. 1. Druk op de toets Zoom om maar het menu Tekengrootte te gaan. 2. Selecteer Vergroten. De zoomopties zullen worden weergegeven. 3. Verplaats de cursoraar het gewenste zoomniveau en druk op OK. In de zoommodus, gebruik de pijtjestoetsen om te pannen over de gezoomde pagina. In zoommodus kurz u de pagina Niet draaien. Druk op de toets Terug om de zoommodus te verlaten.

Wonneer u aan het lezen bent, gaaar de gewenste pagina waaraan u een bladwijzer wilt toevoegen. 1. Druk op de toets Menu. 2. Selecteer Bladwijzer toevoegen. 3. Druk op OK.

Klik in het menu Home op en selecteer [Bookmarks] om de lijst met bladwijzers waar te Geven. Verplaats de cursor in de lijst met bladwijzers maar de gewenste bladwijzer en druk op om deze te openen.

Klik op de pagina die u leest op en selecteer [Bookmarks] om de lijst met bladwijzers wee ter geven. Verplaats de cursor in de lijst met bladwijzers waar de gewennen pagina en druk op om deze te openen.

In de Music player, druk op <OK> om uw muziek af te spelen of te pauzeren. Druk op de pijtjestoets om de volgende song af te spelen. Houd deze toets ingedrukt voor Snel vooruitspoelen. Druk op de lijttjestoets om de vorige song af te spelen. Houd deze toets ingedrukt voor Snel acheteruiestspoelen. Druk op de pijtjestoets om het volume te verhogen. Druk op de pijtjestoets om het volume te verlagen

Photo

Gebruik de om doorheen bestanden/mappen te bladeren. Als u eenoto hebt geseleeteerd, druk op om deleze over het hele scherm weer te gehen. In de modus VolTedig scherm, druk op de pijltjestoetsen om de vorige en volgende afbeelding weer te geven. Om in te zoomen, in de modus VolTedig scherm, druk op de toets om het zoomniveau te wijzigen. Om terug te keren aan de oorspronkelijke groote, drik op .

Slideshow

Druk in een volledige schermweergave op [Slideshow] om een diashow te starten. Om de diashow te stoppen, drukt u een keer op de knop . Selecteer in de verzolgkeuzelijst [Slide Time] om de weergavedur van de dia's in de diashow aan te passen.

Transfer multimedia content to the ARCHOS device

Install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) Authorize the PC and the eReader

O programa de instalacao do Adobe Digital Editions está pre-carregado no leitor electronomico. 1. Ligue o eReader ao seu PC atraves do cabo USB fornecido. 2. No seu PC, vá a Meu computations e clique das vezes no icone do leitor electrónico. Certifique-se de que o seu computador está ligado à Internet 3. Clique das vezes no ficheiro [digitalations_172] para Abrir o programa de instalacao. Em alternativa, poder a descarregar o programa de instalacao a partir de http://www.adobe.com/ products/digitalations/#fp. Se estiver a utiliseronga prima vez, sera necessario obter uma ID Adobe gratuite a partir do site Web da Adobe: Clique em Get an Adobe ID online (Obter uma ID Adobe em LINHA). 4. Insira o seu endereço de correio electrónico e preencha o formulário em LINHA de acordo com as instruções. 1. Após efectuar o registo, regresse à janela ADE. Transfer DRM eBooks to your eReader

A partir da aplicação Adobe Digital Editions, clique em [Todos os artigos] na coluna da esquerda. Os artigos em [Minhas edições digitais] sãopresentados na janela da direita. 1. Selezione o(s) artigo(s) pretendido(s) para efectuar a transferência + para seleccionar multiplos ficheiros. 2. Arraste e largue o(s) artigo(s) selecionado(s) na Unidade do leitor eletronico localizada na ultima fila da coluna da esquerda.

READING BOOKS

Os livros transferidos para o dispositivo Archos são incluidos no Menu Inicial. O dispositivo Archos suporta eBooks no formatting epub, pdf, txt. Utilize os botoes direcionais, para cima ou para baixo, para a esquerda ou para a direita, para selecionar um livre e prima para Abrir o mesmo.

1. A partir da interface principal do leitor eletronico, utilize os botões direcionais para selecionar Biblioteca. 2. Selezionale o livro que desejaAbrir. 3. Prima o botão OK.

- Prima o botão ou para mudar para a páginha seguiné. - Para mudar para a páginha anterior, prima o botão ou .

Adjust the font size

1. Quando estiver a ler, prima o botão para entra r no menu do tamanho da letra. Existem 5 tamanhos disponveis: Pequeno, Medio, Grande, XGrande, XXGrande. 2. Desloque o.cursor para o tamanho de letra pretendido. 3. Prima < OK> para confirmar. 4. Pode demorar algoym tempo a redimensionar a letra.

Zoom In/Out

Durante a leitura, pode ampliar/reduzir a imagem. 1. Prima o botão Zoom para entrada no menu Tamanho da letra. No modo de Zoom, utilize os botões para movimentar-se pela páagina ampliada/reduzida. Não é possível virar a páginna no modo Zoom. Para sair do modo Zoom, prima o botão Voltar.
