PRIOR TO FIRST USE

This unit brings water to the boil within a few minutes.

Fill the unit with clear water and re-boil it in order to clean the unit. Pour out the re-boiled water.

CHILD LOCK

Via a hidden switch on the bottom of the electric kettle you can activate the child lock. From now on, the appliance only heats water up to the desired temperature if you confirm this by pushing the BOIL-button.

To activate the child lock, slide the switch (by using a pen) to the closed lock symbol. To deactivate the child lock, slide the switch (by using a pen) to the open lock symbol. The child lock is deactivated now.

IMPORTANT!

After deactivating the child lock please wait for 30 minutes to unload the energy memory. To unload the energy memory put the kettle beside the base plate..

INITIAL OPERATION

Take the base station and wind up the cable as far as possible.
- Insert the plug into the socket.

  • Open the lid.

  • Fill the electric kettle with a maximum of 1 litre of water. Do not exceed the maximum fill-level marking. The water would bubble over when boiling.

  • Close the lid.

  • Place the electric kettle onto the base station.
  • Press the button for the desired temperature.

IMPORTANT!

Make sure that the maximum fill mark is not exceeded. Fill the unit so that the water level is between the minimum and the maximum fill-level marking. Burns / scalding may be caused by effervescent water.

Temperature Options Ideal for

All black teas, herbal- or fruit tea blends
Pour over coffee
All Green Teas and instant beverages
Japanese "Gyokuru Asahi" Tea

IMPORTANT!

The current temperature is firstly indicated by the respective glowing button and the button of the desired/chosen temperature is blinking.

  • 3 short beeps and the blue-glowing button of the chosen temperature indicate that the heating-process is completed.

The temperatures can be adjusted at any time of the heating-process, provided that the desired temperature has not been reached, yet.

  • For a new/repeated heating-process please press the button for the desired temperature. If you have chosen a higher temperature setting during the first heating-process and now desire a lower temperature of the remaining water, please press the button for the respective (lower) temperature.

BOIL-DRY AND OVERHEAT PROTECTION

This unit has been fitted with a dry-out and overheat protection. If it should happen that you operate the unit without water or with too little water, the unit will switch off. Wait for a short moment until the unit has cooled down. Fill the unit with water and continue as usual.

CLEANING OUTSIDE

Remove the plug from the socket and let the unit cool down. Use a soft and moist cloth to clean the outer surfaces of the unit. Use a mild detergent in case of heavy soiling.

Clean the unit and never hold the base station under running water and never immerse it into water.

REMOVAL OF ANTI-LIMESCALE FILTER

The removable anti-limescale filter prevents that limescale and dirt particles are poured out along with the water. For simple cleaning, the anti-limescale filter can be removed.

  • Remove the filter when the electric kettle has cooled down.

GRAEF WK 900 - REMOVAL OF ANTI-LIMESCALE FILTER - 1

Pull the anti-limescale filter out upwards.

  • Clean the anti-limescale filter under running water.

  • To reinsert, press the anti-limescale filter from above behind the spout.

DECALCIFYING / INSIDE CLEANING

Depending on the degree of hardness of the water in your region, lime deposits will develop at the bottom and on the inside wall from time to time. The harder the water, the faster limit deposits will develop.

Descale the unit in regular intervals, because too much scale can affect the performance of the unit. A defect which can be traced back to lacking descaling is not covered by warranty!

If you regularly decalcify the unit, this will increase the service life of your unit. For decalcifying, we recommend to use Graef descending tablets. The descending tablets are available in our online shop www.graef.de under article No. 145618. Moreover, water also causes soiling on the inside of the container, which can also be removed by regular descending.

Process:

Fill the unit with water up to the maximum fill-level marking.

Insert the descending tablet, allow the tablet approx. 5 minutes to dissolve.

Re-boil the decalcifying mixture.

Empty the unit, and rinse it several times with clear water.

We do not assume any liability for lack of or insufficient descaling. In this case, the warranty will become null and void.

TWO-YEAR WARRANTY

As from the date of purchase we assume manufacturer warranty of twenty-four months for defects which can be traced back to manufacturing and material defect. Your legal warranty claim in conformity with Section 437 et seq. of the German Civil Code (BGB) shall remain unaffected by this regulation. The guarantee does not cover any damage which is caused by incorrect handling or use as well as defects which only slightly influence the function or the value of the unit. We do not assume any liability for damage caused by lack of or insufficient descaling and maintenance. In this case, the warranty will also become null and void. Moreover, transport damage provided we are not responsible shall be excluded from the claims under guarantee. Guarantee shall be ruled out for damage, the repair of which has not been carried out by us or one of our representations. In case of justified complaints, we shall repair the defective product or replace it by a product without defects at our discretion.
