ENGLISH Unpacking your telephone

When unpacking, ensure that the following elements are included:

1 x Barbie corded phone

1 x handset coil cord

1 x telephone line cable

1 x telephone base station

1 x instruction manual

WARNING: All packaging materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, wire ties

and tags are not part of this telephone and should be discarded.

Telephone description

1. Handset coil cord jack

Press the FLASH key to generate temporarily a timed break of 100ms onto

the line; you can use this function for special service. (e.g. call waiting func-

The CP050BBi1 can be wall mounted (using the template page 12) or placed

You can connect your CP050BBi1 to a direct exchange line (DEL) — a line

connected to a local exchange, with its own phone number; to an extension

socket connected to a DEL; or to an extension on an approved compatible

PBX. Do not connect the CP050BBi1 as an extension to a payphone.

Please read the following instructions before installation

Each item of telephone equipment (phones, fax machines, etc.) has a ringer

equivalence numbers (REN).

The REN of all instruments (phones, fax machines, etc.) connected to an

exchange line must not add up to more than 4 — otherwise, one or more of

them may not ring and/or answer calls correctly. CP050BBi1 has a REN of 1,

and most other telephones have a REN of 1 unless marked otherwise.

ENGLISH Making and answering calls

1. Lift the handset and wait for the dial tone.

2. Dial the telephone number using the keypad.

When the telephone rings, just lift the handset to answer the call.

REDIAL To make a repeat call to the last number you dialed:

1. Lift the handset and wait for the dial tone.

2. Press the REDIAL key.

MUTE While you are on a call, to mute the mouthpiece:

Please read carefully the instructions on this

ENGLISH Troubleshooting

The CP050BBi1 must be serviced by trained engineers. NEVER attempt

any repairs or adjustments yourself: you could make the problem worse and

invalidate the warranty.

ALWAYS check rst that:

• You have followed all the instructions of this manual to install and set up

• All connectors are rmly inserted in their sockets

If the phone does not ring:

• Make sure that your CP050BBi1 is fully plugged into the telephone line socket.

• Check that the ringer volume switch on the underside of the base is set to “H”.

• Check that the total REN value of all equipment connected to your

telephone line is no more than 4. Disconnect one or more telephones and

see whether that helps.

If you cannot make a call:

• Make sure that your CP050BBi1is fully plugged into the telephone line socket.

• Disconnect all other instruments connected to the same line as the

CP050BBi1and see whether you can make a call.

• Disconnect the CP050BBi1from the telephone line and plug a different

telephone into the socket. Try making a call. If this works, the line is OK.

• If you are using a two-way socket adapter, remove it and plug a telephone

directly into the socket. If the call now works, the adapter may be faulty.

• If you cannot make a call, the fault may be on the exchange line. Contact

the service provider.

If the volume in the earpiece is low when you are on a call:

Make sure you’re holding the earpiece correctly over your ear.

If you still cannot identify the cause of the problem, contact the
