USER MANUAL JC138G Joycare

Thanks to its infrared sensors, the Joycare's thermometer detects heat of arterial rush in correspondence of forehead or of auricular canal. Forehead is supplied by temporal artery, which carries blood from heart to brain; if you slide the probe from the arch of forehead to temple, the thermometer will immediately detect body

temperature in a accurate and reliable way. This is an easy and an efficacious way to measure, with numerous advantages: it is rapid, ideal to be used with children, even when they are sleeping.

DESTINATION OF USE AND REFERENCE RULES

This electric digital Joycare's thermometer JC-138G is an instrument to measure body temperature for clinical and hospital use, and moreover for domestic use whenever it is not necessary continuous watch by medical and paramedical staff. The instrument can be used on forehead and it must be used

following scrupulously the indicated instructions in this manual: every use different from that prescribed is illegitimate. This is a product conformable to the following rules: - EN 60601-1: + A1: + A2: + A13: - electro medical devices.

Part 1: general rules for security; - EN 60601-1-2: -electro medical devices.

Part 1: general rules for security. Part 2 - collateral rule: electromagnetic compatibility - prescriptions and test; - UNI EN 12470-5: clinical thermometers.

Part 5: performance of infrared thermometer. Digital infrared thermometer Joycare JC-138G is a medical device of class IIa. Classification according to clause 3.2, section 3, rule 10 of directive 93/42/CEE.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Mean temperature varies from person to person depending on sex, age and different parts of the day. It can go from a minimum of 35.5^ ( 95.9^ ) to 37.8^ ( 100.4^ ). Thereby, when you are in good health, it is suggested to effect different consecutive measurements to state the range of your own mean temperature.

READ ACCURATELY USER MANUAL PRECAUTIONS

• Use the device only with the aim it was built for.
• To do accurate measurements, be sure that the probe is integral, clean and dry (see maintenance).
• Avoid measuring your temperature for at least 30 minutes after having done an intense physical work, having eaten and having had a bath.
• Don't expose the instrument to high temperature, to direct sunbeams and to dust.
• Keep the thermometer in its holder.
• Avoid to knock it off.
• Be careful to follow the instructions for a correct position and use.
• Don't try to open or repair the instrument alone: the guarantee would decay.

• Don't disassemble the instrument, except to remove or substitute the battery.

• In case of breakdown turn to a specialized centre.

• Don't put fingers or objects into the probe.
• To clean the instrument use a soft cloth soared with alcohol; never use aggressive chemicals or detergents.
• To clean the probe use some cotton soared with alcohol.

HOW TO PROCEED TO MEASURE

• Push the switching on button: to be sure of a correct operation, when you switch on the device check that display shows in order: all the segments lighted for few seconds the last temperature detected, then Lo^
• Bring the thermometer's probe near to forehead in the centre, under the hairline, paying attention the probe not to come completely in contact with skin (distance less than 1 cm)
• Slide the device toward to the temple with a continuous movement, up to the temple.
• The temperature will be detected in 3-4 seconds and display will immediately visualize it.

Note: If you dry or wash your forehead, skin could become cooled. As a result measurement of the temperature could not be reliable anymore. In this case it is suggested to measure through the auricular canal: place the probe in the auricular canal and after 2-3 seconds the thermometer will detect temperature.
- If the detected temperature seems to be not reliable or instable, it is suggested to call the authorized service to check that the device works correctly or call our own doctor for a consulting.
- Push the button again to effect a new measurement.
- Before going on measuring, make sure your skin to be dry and clean (skin must be always clean, not sweaty, not wet of water or oil). Follow the instructions with attention and move delicately the thermometer, in light contact with skin.

PARTICULAR INSTRUCTIONS

• The movement through the forehead is necessary to find the point of the highest temperature.
• Read carefully the instruction manual before using.
• When high temperature persists, turn to our own doctor.

AUTOMATIC SWITCHING OFF

The device switches off automatically when it is not in use for about 60 seconds.

MAINTENANCE

Cleaning the product

Before and after using always clean the thermometer with a soft cloth dampened of water or of alcohol diluted with water. Store the device in its plastic box. Do not dip the device in water or other liquids.

The thermometer stores the previous 8 measurements. The last measurement appears on the display when the thermometer is turned on.

Replacing the battery

Before using the product, remove the plastic film between the battery's poles and the contacts.

Replace the battery when the 'flat battery' icon display.

Configuring the time

1-Press the TIME buttons once to enter time configuration mode. The hour digits start flashing.
2-Press the STATUS button to decrease and SET to increase
3-Press TIME again to configure the minutes
4-Press the STATUS button to decrease and SET to increase
5-Press TIME again to confirm configuration

MEASUREMENT UNIT

To change the measurement unit, open the battery compartment and set the small button at C^ or F^ (depending on which measurement unit you wish to have on the display)

RETRIEVING STORED TEMPERATURES

To retrieve one of the 8 saved temperatures:

1-Press the STATUS button to select the memory function (the memory icon appears on the display)

e SET button to find the saved temperature you require

DISPOSAL

The device (including its removable parts and accessories) must not be disposed of together with municipal waste at the end of its

life, but in compliance with European Directive 2002/96/EC. Since it must be handled separately from household waste, either carry it to a separatelycollected waste disposal centre for electrical and electronic appliances or give it back to the retailer on purchasing a new device with the same purpose. Any infringement will be severely prosecuted.

The batteries used in this device must be disposed of in the special bins at the end of their life.
