Technical description

The device is a mini fridge with absorption cooling. Ammonia is used as the refrigerant. All materials used are compatible for use with foodstuffs. The refrigerant circuit is maintenance-free.

The mini fridge is available as freestanding version (FS) and as built-in version (BI). The freestanding version is intended for freestanding use. The cooling unit cover protects the warm parts of the cooling units. The foot frame with ventilation openings ensure sufficient ventilation. By removing the foot frame and cooling unit cover the mini fridge can be used as a built-in version. The built-in version is intended to be mounted into furniture. It does not have a foot frame or cooling unit cover. The temperature is set using the thermostatic control on the inside of the mini fridge. The electronics checks the mini fridge‘s function after every defrosting phase by measuring the evaporator temperature drop. If it registers a problem it shuts down the mini fridge and the interior light flashes continuously. The mini fridge is equipped with an automatic defrosting function. Each defrosting phase lasts 2 hours. 39 hours after switching on the cooling device, the first defrosting phase starts. After that, every 22 hours a defrosting phase is performed. The defrost water is run through a drain tube from the drip channel to an evaporator vessel at the mini fridge‘s bottom rear. The defrost water evaporates automatically into the circulating air so that the vessel does not need to be emptied. Two door sensors check whether the door is open.

The various types of mini fridges are shown in the following illustrations:

• DS200: fig. 1, page 3 • DS300: fig. 2, page 4 • DS400: fig. 3, page 5 • DS600: fig. 4, page 6

Instructions for installing the mini fridge

Observe the following when installing the mini fridge:

• Install the mini fridge so that the warm air produced can easily flow away (either upwards or to the sides, fig. 5, page 7).

EN No. in fig. 5, page 7

Clearance above the mini fridge if exhaust air can not adequately circulate upwardly or at the side

Installing and connecting the mini fridge

• Observe the following installation dimensions:

– DS200: fig. i, page 12 – DS300: fig. j, page 13 – DS400: fig. k, page 14 – DS600: fig. l, page 15 • Keep objects clear of openings in the housing or installation structure (such as ventilation slots, etc.).

Installing freestanding version

Observe the following to set up the mini fridge in a freestanding position:

• Ensure that the cover for protecting the hot components of the cooling unit is present. • Ensure that the floor frame is in place to provide adequate air circulation. ➤ Place the mini fridge on a level surface. Use a water level to check this.

Installing built-in version

CAUTION! Health hazard To avoid a hazard due to instability of the device, it must be fixed in accordance with the instructions.

Observe the following instructions if you wish to install the mini fridge in cabinetry:

• Place the mini fridge on a level surface. Use a water level to check this. • Maintain 20 mm clearance to the walls. • Air must be able to circulate without any hindrance (fig. 5, page 7). • The entire cooling unit must extend into the ventilation duct. • The air in the ventilation duct may not be heated by other heat sources. • The ventilation grille must have a cross-section of at least 200 cm². Proceed as follows to install the mini fridge (fig. 6, page 8): ➤ Erect the mini fridge and screw on the feet of the device.

Mounting the door handle (optional)

➤ Proceed as shown to mount the door handle (fig. 7, page 8).

➤ Proceed as shown to disassemble the door handle (fig. 8, page 8).

EN Installing and connecting the mini fridge

Changing the door hinge

A WARNING! Electrocution hazard

Before performing any work on the mini fridge, unplug the power plug. NOTICE! Risk of damage! The mini fridge may only lie on its side briefly.

You can change the hinge of the door, so that it opens to the left rather than the right.

➤ Proceed as shown to change the door hinge: – Freestanding version: fig. 9, page 9 to fig. c, page 10 – Build-in version: fig. 0, page 9 to fig. b, page 9

Replacing the door panel

A NOTICE! Risk of damage

The mini fridge may only briefly lie on its side.

The door panel has the following dimensions:

➤ If necessary, disassemble the door handle (chapter “Mounting the door handle

(optional)” on page 24). ➤ If necessary, remove the retaining ring of the door lock. ➤ Proceed as shown to remove the decorative plate (fig. d, page 10). ➤ Proceed as shown to mount the decorative plate (fig. e, page 10).

Using the mini fridge

NOTICE! Damage hazard • Ensure that food or liquids in glass containers are not excessively refrigerated. Liquids expand when they freeze. This can therefore destroy glass containers. • Ensure that you only put items in the mini fridge which may be chilled at the selected temperature.

Before starting your new mini fridge for the first time, you should clean it inside and outside with a damp cloth for hygienic reasons (see also chapter “Cleaning and maintenance” on page 28).

• Only open the mini fridge as often and for as long as necessary.

• Allow warm food to cool down first before placing it in the device to keep cool. • Avoid unnecessarily low temperature settings. • For optimal energy consumption, position the shelves and drawers according to their position on delivery. • On a regularly basis, make sure the door seal still fits properly. • Clean dust and dirt from the condenser at regular intervals.

Positioning the shelves

Proceed as shown (fig. f, page 11). DS400, DS600 Proceed as shown (fig. g, page 11).

➤ Plug the power plug into the socket.

✔ The mini fridge begins a self-test.

✔ The LED initially flashes several times and then lights continuously.

✔ The mini fridge is switched on.

NOTE After switching on, the mini fridge needs several hours to reach the cooling temperature within the mini fridge compartment.

Setting the temperature

To avoid food waste, note the following:

• Keep temperature fluctuation as low as possible. Only open the refrigerator as often and for as long as necessary. Store the foodstuff in such a way that the air can still circulate well. • Adjust the temperature to the quantity and type of the foodstuff. • Store the different foodstuff types as shown in the figures. • Foodstuff can easily absorb or release odor or taste. Always store foodstuff covered or in closed containers/bottles. ➤ Set the thermostatic control (fig. h, page 12) to the middle position. Depending on the filling and installation conditions, a different position may be necessary. Turning the controller toward the large symbol increases the cooling; turning it toward the smaller symbol reduces the cooling.

Switching off and storing

If you intend to not use the mini fridge for a longer period, proceed as follows:

➤ Pull the power plug out of the socket. ➤ Clean the mini fridge (see chapter “Cleaning and maintenance” on page 28). ➤ Leave the door open to prevent odors from forming.

A EN Replacing the LED NOTICE! Damage hazard

The lamp can only be replaced by the manufacturer, a service agent or similarly qualified person to avoid hazard.

Cleaning and maintenance

Cleaning and maintenance

A WARNING! Electrocution hazard

Always disconnect the refrigerator from the mains before you clean and service it. NOTICE! Damage hazard • Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or hard objects during cleaning as these can damage the refrigerator. • Never use hard or sharp tools to remove ice or to free objects frozen onto the device. • Do not use any mechanical tools or any other tools to speed up the defrosting process.

➤ Clean the refrigerator regularly and as soon as it becomes dirty with a damp cloth.

➤ Make sure that no water drips into the seals. This can damage the electronics. ➤ Wipe the refrigerator dry with a cloth after cleaning. ➤ Check the condensate drain regularly. Clean the condensate drain when necessary. If it is blocked, the condensate collects on the bottom of the refrigerator.
