How to take a correct measurement with the BP 1600 blood pressure monitor?

For an accurate measurement, attach the device to the palm side of your wrist, about 2 cm above the palm line. Make sure the cuff is properly adjusted. Sit down, relax, do not move or talk. Keep the device at heart level. Press the red on/off button. The measurement starts automatically. After the beep, read the values.

What to do if the screen displays 'ERR'?

The 'ERR' error indicates a measurement or handling error. Repeat the measurement carefully following the instructions in the Taking Measurements section. If the problem persists, contact Braun customer service.

How to view stored measurements?

Turn off the device, then press the memory (memo) button. The last measurement is displayed. Press the memory button repeatedly to scroll through the values. To exit, press the on/off button.

Can the BP 1600 blood pressure monitor adjust the time and date?

No, time and date adjustment is only available on the BP 1650 model. The BP 1600 only stores the last 10 measurements without timestamps.

How to change the batteries?

Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device. Insert two alkaline LR03 (AAA) batteries, observing the indicated polarities. Close the cover. New batteries allow about 200 measurements.

What does the low battery symbol mean?

When the batteries are low, a symbol appears on the screen. Replace the batteries quickly with new ones to ensure accurate measurements. Use alkaline LR03 (AAA) batteries.

Why do successive measurements differ?

Blood pressure naturally varies during the day and can fluctuate by 10 to 20 mmHg even in a healthy person. For consistent readings, always measure under the same conditions, at the same time, and wait 3 minutes between measurements.

How to clean the blood pressure monitor?

Clean the device housing with a soft, damp cloth. Stains on the cuff can be gently removed with a damp cloth. Do not wash the cuff with water or dry clean and do not store the device in direct sunlight or extreme humidity.

What to do if the cuff does not inflate properly?

Check that the batteries are sufficiently charged. Make sure the cuff is properly positioned and the wrist is at heart level. If the problem persists, there may be a handling error: press the on/off button to stop and start again.

What is the warranty on the KAZ BP 1600 blood pressure monitor?

Braun VitalScan Plus is a blood pressure monitor that has been developed for easy and accurate blood pressure measurements from the wrist. The measuring accuracy of Braun VitalScan Plus was tested at the time of manufacture and was proven by clinical research in accordance with AAMI/ANSI-SP10.

What you should know about blood pressure

Blood pressure constantly changes throughout the day. It rises sharply in the early morning and declines during the late morning. Blood pressure rises again in the afternoon and finally drops to a low level at night. Also, it may vary in a short period of time. Therefore, readings from successive measurements can fluctuate.

Blood pressure readings from a healthy 31-year old male, measured at 5-minute intervals

Blood pressure measured in a doctor's office only provides a momentary value. Repeated measurements at home better reflect one's actual blood pressure values under everyday conditions.

Moreover, many people have a different blood pressure when they measure at home, because they tend to be more relaxed than when in the doctor's office.

Regular blood pressure measurements taken at home can provide your doctor with valuable information on your normal blood pressure values under actual "everyday" conditions.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has set up the following standard blood pressure values when measured at resting pulse.

Inserting batteries

• Use alkaline batteries, type LR 03 (AAA) as supplied with this product.
• Remove the battery compartment cover (F) and insert two batteries with correct polarity (see symbol in the battery compartment (E)).
• New batteries will provide approximately 200 measurements.
• Only discard empty batteries. They should not be disposed of in the household waste, but at appropriate collection sites or at your retailer.

Key rules for accurate blood pressure measurement

Always take readings at the same time of day, ideally in the morning, under the same conditions.
- Do not measure within 30 minutes after smoking, coffee or tea consumption.
Take off wrist watch and jewelry before fitting the monitor on the measuring arm.
While taking a measurement, sit down, relax, keep still, especially the hand of the measuring arm, do not move or speak.

• Hold the monitor at heart level.
• Wait approximately 3 minutes before repeating a measurement.

Taking a measurement

1. Fasten the monitor on the palm side of your wrist, roughly 2 cm below the palm line. Make sure that the cuff (G) fits tightly.

1. Press the red start/stop button (D).

1. Hold the monitor at heart level. The measurement starts automatically. While measurement is in progress, do not move or speak.

1. At the end of the measurement, a beep sounds and the reading is displayed:

1. Press the start/stop button to turn the product off.

Otherwise the product will turn off automatically after 2 minutes.

If at any time, you want to stop the measurement, press the red start/stop button.

Memory function

After each measurement, the blood pressure monitor automatically stores the reading in memory.

Please note that stored data will be erased if changing batteries takes longer than 15 seconds.

Recalling stored readings

• To recall stored readings, first turn the device off.
• Then press the memory button («memo») (B). The latest reading will be displayed.
• Repeatedly pressing the memory button will call up one by one all stored readings.
• To exit the memory mode, turn the device off by pressing the start/stop button.

BP 1600: The readings of the last 10 measurements are stored in memory.

BP 1650: The readings of the last 20 measurements with time and date are stored in memory. The lower display line successively shows date, time and pulse of the respective measurement.

Setting time and date (BP 1650 only)

• Push the time/date button (C). The lower display line shows «Time» and flashing digits in the «hour» position. To adjust the hours, repeatedly push the «memo» button.

• Push button (C) again: The minutes digits will flash. Again, repeatedly push the «memo» button to adjust the minutes.
• Push button (C) again to adjust the date: The lower display line shows «Date» and flashing digits in the month position. Adjust the month by repeatedly pushing the «memo» button.
• Push button (C) again: The day digits will flash. Again, repeatedly push the «memo» button to adjust the day.
• To exit the time and date setting mode, push button (C).
• Otherwise the device automatically turns off after 2 minutes and activates the settings made so far.

Storage and cleaning

Clean the product with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Stains on the cuff (G) can be carefully removed with a damp cloth. Do not wash or dry clean the cuff. Do not store the product in a place exposed to direct sunlight or high humidity.

Calibration

This product has been calibrated at the time of manufacture. If used according to the use instructions, periodic recalibration is not required.
